I just started crying because oh my god do I feel sad for the Marked Ones.

It is so fucking tragic what happened to them. They watched their parents and loved ones fight for a better world, and then watched them fail to achieve their goal for a better future.

By their enemies, they were forced to watch their parents executed to the delight of the rest of Navarre. People who the Separatists had been fighting for taking pleasure in their deaths. And they made the kids watch. They were kids. The youngest hadn’t even been born yet.

And then to be sent to Basgiath, trained to fight for the kingdom who had shown such despicable cruelty to them, under the command of a woman who had been the executioner of those they loved. Hated and feared by those around them, condemned to serve those they despise.

Xaden, whose father’s reputation was destroyed, called insane by those who wanted the truth covered up.

Imogen, who had to watch her mother and sister die for what they fought for.

Liam, whose father they came for after his mother was executed. Who had to watch soldiers kill him in his own house. Who was separated from his sister to be raised by strangers.

Garrick and Bodhi and Sloane and Eya and Soleil and Ciaran and 98 others.

Aretia, the beautiful city that was destroyed.

So much hurt was caused, and I feel so fucking sorry for every single one of the Marked Ones because nobody deserves that, and especially not them.

here's a devastating thought!

xaden was 17 when he made the deal with lilith, which places him at the oldest end of the marked ones. he's at that age where he had friends who happened to be younger than him, like liam, but he most definitely lost more than just his father to the executions. it's likely some of his best friends that we will never hear about just happened to be over the age of 18 when aretia fell, maybe as little as a few months older than him. i can only imagine his survivor's guilt for it. the fact that he's the rebellion leader's son means he probably sees himself deserving of being executed more than any of his older friends did, but he was spared by being born when he was, something completely out of his control. so of course he would guard the marked ones with his life. they are not only what's left of the movement his father died for, but pieces of the people he loves, family friends who have probably known him before he knew them.

I love these opening chapter blurbs so much! Super insightful, I dunno how anyone was skipping over them.

This one broke my heart.

My impression is that Fen Riorson was a very respected man, the Duke of Aretia and apparently loved by the people. I'd like to think he was a good ruler and that plus his charisma got people to follow him in his plan for succession.

Considering he was actually on the right side of history, trying to fight the real problem and help the neighbouring provinces, it's heart breaking to read that blurb and see how Markham absolutely ruined Fen's name - saying that he went mad of all things!

And the audacity to write 'an unedited history' 😒😒😒😒😒

I'm curious about how much the Tyrrish knew about the truth of venin. Did Fen grow up knowing the truth or only found out when he got into leadership? Is it common knowledge amongst the people, like it is for the marked ones, or do they only know because of their parents?

The Tyrrish were the last to join the unification. I wonder why that is....

And of course because I can't stop thinking about my new favourite boy, my heart breaks imagining what it was like for Xaden (and the other marked ones) to go from respected nobility- with a great reputation- (I think that's important to note because it doesn't seem like people like King Tauri - not even his son), to being besmirched and hated, dragged from your home and thrown into the heart of the enemy. Having to pretend that yes, your father was indeed mad, that he wasn't a good man, that the truth you know isn't real, and having to bear the brunt of everyone's hatred and you can't fight back or defend your name or the name of the father you loved lest your loyalty be called into question.

That whole cover up is insidious af and reckless to a stupid level imo. You secure yourself to the detriment of everyone else... But that's just a stop gap against the very real threat that still exists.

But what they did to the Tyrrish leadership was down right unforgivable. No wonder those kids were so mad.

It has been a criminally long time since I've posed teensies (no it hasn't I'm greatly exaggerating)

This was actually a fun exercise lol. Taking an oc, one of my favorite characters, and some stolen skin from Minecraft Planet and making them interpretive characters was really fun to do. (Similar to how people drew DSMP and Hermitcraft ppl)

I did this b/c of a childhood Minecraft series that I'll describe below lol (along with progress photos):

Recently I felt this urge to watch a really old Minecraft series called Seedlings. I remember watching the first season when it first dropped on Game Time (I think it was called that???) and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. Rewatching it as an adult, I see how the existentialism is shown and being comfortable with your place in the world is felt. (I relate to Mark so heavily and I have no idea if that's a red flag or not.)

ANYWAYS, I had an interesting hypothetical Season 3 where the NPCs show their intelligence and sentience to the Marked Ones and come to a resolution to the whole violence and massacre thing. It would most likely be leave the server alone and let the NPCs do whatever without interference lol. Thing was I had no ideas for how these hypothetical Marked Ones skins would look. You would think I would try to be basic with it, but I wasn't in the mood to draw a buncha anime peeps. So, what better idea than to use my own Minecraft skins!

The two taller skins are my OC Katelyn, and my interpretation of Goth Teensy both translated into the Minecraft style (which is funny cuz Katelyn was originally a Minecraft character anyways soooo 💀💀💀). Then they are translated out into these new designs lol. Their users would probably be KattoDrago27 and GTeensyGuardian lol

The "Tiny Minumus" as I've deemed him is called King Teensie Grand Minimus Rayman Legends Origins by SnaKke on Planet Minecraft. Go check out their skins they're pretty good. His user would probably be TheGrandestMinimus001

one of the theories i’ve seen about the fourth wing is that marked ones have two signets (xaden can can mind read and is shadow daddy, liam can wield ice and see). when they’re planning to steal the map from general sorrengail though, imogen actually states that she can erase memories AND is fast??? so do we think her being fast a natural talent or is it her second signet. because when i first read it i read it as just a natural talent but now i’m thinking that she plays it off as one but it is her signet as well.

i like to think violet is to xaden and his marked ones as feyre is to rhys and his inner circle.

head angsty shadow boy accepts this beautiful, unexpectedly badass girl into his life and introduces her to his closest people. of course they all proceed to adopt her as their own and protect her because she's literally tethered to his mind but also because they just Love Her.

in my personal opinion garrick is cassian, bodhi is azriel, imogen is amren, and liam is mor but i have also only finished acomaf so far so who am i to say lmao

I stg I'm kicking yall in the shins one last time, we're ALMOST done with the angst!

Let me tell you I had this finished(!) twice(!), but no, I had to go back and change it lmao

In my first go the fight scene was much more rough, it was hard for me to draw from the beginning, I'm not really good at this sort of thing. So I took a little break from the comic and when I got back to drawing the last two panels (static ch close ups) they turned out so GOOD and CRISP! I just had to go back and redraw the previous ones. Didn't change the composition back then, just made the drawings less sketchy and fixed minor mistakes. This panel in particular went through bigger fixes, I couldn't get the pose right:

I emphasized the arch in Zoro's back so it's more clear he's hunched over, the head is lower, and the hand on his stomach wasn't looking good, so I switched its direction and I feel it looks more natural now. The whole pose is shifted to the side now, whereas in the previous ones it was more straight up, but I wasn't conveying perspective well.

So after that I had it all exported, loaded into drafts and as I scroll it on my phone I'm like... There should be one more panel where Zoro's getting kicked : | Imma need to change it AGAIN.......

It just didn't flow well. I work on the comic in chunks so I haven't put these panels together before, I always saw them side by side in my main file.

I just didn't like how you go from Zoro getting kicked to him being thrown, it just felt disjointed to me.

So first I looked through the three sole volumes of BNHA that I have at home to maybe understand drawing fight scenes just a little bit better. That's how I got to the new version of Zoro getting kicked so there's more lines showing movement etc. but most importantly you have the kick and Zoro's reaction separate. So now Zoro's face has a bigger closeup, you can see his open eye.

In the previous version it was more distant, the closeup wasn't as big and you couldn't see his expression well. With just the side view you could only see he's in pain but nothing more than that,whereas when you have a full view of his face you can get much more from that. You see where he's looking, you know he's looking at Sanji when he kicks him in the guts.

I guess that's why, in the first version, I was trying to still show his face where he's being thrown off of Sanji bcs I felt the side profile wasn't doing it's job, but at the same time it felt off, like there was less force in the kick bcs his head wasn't following the movement idk. Also he was def too big in the frame. So now Zoro's smaller to emphasize the perspective more, the head is down, the right arm is more to the side and there's more lines, the flame is more aggressive now and bursts into the sides when it comes in contact with Zoro's body to show the impact. I know they could be better still, but this is the best I can do right now and I'm happy with the result!! I'm glad I kept pushing it! These poses were VERY confusing to draw lol

Alsooo, it would make more sense if Sanji threw Zoro in the other direction, over his head like in karate/judo, but I wanted to keep my directions consistent. I had to have Sanji standing back to the carriage, so he doesn't notice the spear being thrown and Zoro facing the carriage so he can get hit from the front, right after he gets up. It's like..... did he not see it? Did he get hit on purpose? You decide lmao

Though I'm probably too rigid with my 'camera', in BNHA you see the action from any and every direction, i guess it adds to the dynamism of it all, also there's just many MANY more panels in manga lmao

Judge giving me major "isn't there somebody you forgot to ask" vibes at the end there lmao I hope you forgot he's even there and this comes as a surprise!
