QUICK FIX short film by  Alexandra Lemay
This  was a  labour of love that was made with no budget over the pandemic. It's far from perfect but I am still extremely proud to have produced my first independent short. Thank you to DP / co-producer  Kacim Az and his better half, hand model extraordinaire Vic Lamontagne as well as everyone else who helped make this lil' dude possible. I am extremely grateful for the festivals that supported it by including it in their programs and even awarded it prizes.  I hope you like it!

I had the pleasure of working for Stoopid Buddy Stoodios as the first Assistant Director on Steve Conrad’s series Ultra City Smith.  We had an amazing team of artist, animators, fabricators, lighting and camera and production crew making this wonderfully weird little baby come to life.  As grueling as the 65+Hours a week were, I hope to do it all over again for season 2!

I made an independent short over the pandemic, Quick Fix and it’s finally done! This little guy seems like a pretty simple build, but it took a lot of trial and error before I arrived at a workable design. His design was inspired by pareidolia (where you see faces in objects) so I really wanted him to look as close to an actual cup whilst getting as much expression as possible. Thank you Erik Goulet for the armature and Dany Boivin for your fabrication advice!

Not the most successful Fingerlings Show episode, but we had a blast making  it and I love the props in this! Considering our limited budget, resources and ridiculous deadline, I think we did a good job.

So before covid hit I was working as a  creative producer for a toy company (Wowwee) . I had a  lot of fun making props, costumes and set dec as well as stop-motion animation for TV commercials, social media and youtube shows. We had the most fun working on the Fingerling Show. We worked with the R&D team to rig up their toys with remotes so we can puppeteer the blinks and head turns. Kevin Munroe wrote and  directed  them from LA  and Dany Boivin built the the sets and  most of the props. We worked with a few DP’s like Zach Fay, Ganael Dumontier and Josh Usheroff on set as well as Francis Hannerman who edited and composited all the episodes on the fly.  I was the on-set director, set decorator, costume and props fabricator as well as occasional puppeteer when we didn’t have enough hands. The show was just for youtube with very little budget and time, but it had a muppets feel to it and that made me happy.
