I just remembered how the Life is Strange remaster completely butchered the original game’s art direction and now I’m sad.

77k words of Aerti? In MY FF7 fanfiction? It’s more likely than you think!
Chapter 15 is up, you should give it a read? Maybe?

Just like Remake, FFVII Rebirth features one of Advent Children's best tracks, “the Promised Land” in a way that I find really interesting
Remake has it very early on, in chapter 2, after Cloud's first vision of Sephiroth. It's just an instrumental track, but it definitely adds something somber to that scene when you walk around Sector 8 and see the damage caused by the Reactor's explosion.
Now why would a song from AC, a film meant to be taking place 2 years after the events of the main game, play now? Back then, I appreciated the nod, but I didn't think about it much at all.
In Rebirth, “the Promised Land” shows up several times.
First you hear it in Cosmo Canyon, you get an a capella group singing it in the original AC tune. It might even be the same recording as the one they used in AC. It's the same lyrucs.
Later, during the final chapter of the game, you hear a new arrangement of the song, with bits of “Those Chosen by the Planet” interspersed. Once again, the same lyrics.
Is it fanservice? Yes, of course it is. You know this song. You know that it announces somber things. It's a good song, too. You probably made the Leo DiCaprio pointing thing when you heard it.
Is there something more to it than that?
Why on earth would people sing “stella nobis non concessit” now? Clearly there was enough money into this soundtrack to make not one but two Stamp songs (bow-wow-wow) so if they'd wanted to, the people making this game could have changed the lyrics to something else.
I can't fully wrap my head around this but I get the feeling that it has to do with the very nature of the Re- games as requels and their relation to memory, both the players' and that which is contained within the Lifestream.
