The new diorama corner

Moved to a new place. No lovely floor length windows for natural light on the diorama like in the previous place, so I had to make do and make my own fake window with an ceiling light panel that I added a plug for.

It's a bit more cluttered of a room than before, but oh well, that's what happens after some time passes. You just keep accumulating stuff 😅 He's got LoZ merch, CCS merch, a gundam model, (real) manga with fully printed pages, plants, plushies, a doll, laptop, a switch, food/games (hidden in drawers). Eventually he'll have a CD collection as well.

For a sense of scale, Junha is 65cm tall and Ringo, the cat is 14lbs.

Finally Finally finished her faceup.

I def like her so much better now than I did with her company faceup despite imperfections i made. Beforem while still very pretty, she looked like she'd slap you if you offended her which is so not my idea of how Cinderella is. Now I feel like she's so much more relaxed.

slight vent: I posted her on a bjd group and someone told me i've ruined her value by giving her a custom faceup because they saw a low priced cinderella on the 2nd hand market with a custom faceup before, and I was like excuse me... first I wasn't asking; second i'm not selling, so please keep your opinions to yourself... like damn... Plus there def are other disney princess that are CURRENTLY on the market with custom faceups and company faceups on the same sculpt, and they have the same price, so your single sampling should not be taken as a universal truth...

Augh just love the multicolor cool tones of these lights with the fabric. Finally put the lights to use again after a year from when I used them for the bubble backpack, now that I'm moved in.

It's not that visible during the day or when the room lights are turned on, but at night with all the lights off, it's simply lovely. I'm not sure if I know how to capture this on my other camera, the night mode on the phone still works great.

Japanese gacha machine miniatures to use with my 1/3 dolls.

The manga volume is an all pages fully printed and legible volume 1 of Fruits Basket! And the Dos card game is a full set of cards you can actually play with 😂

The volks SDGr body isn't meant to hold poses like this (lack of thigh mobility joint and double jointed knees), but w/e, managed to get it with the heel of the shoe digging into the carpet lol.

I should do more photo dumps here. Less forced cropping and quality is higher than insta.

3 part torsos are the best for these sort of relaxed poses. This might say something about me and my posture, but I love the ability to slouch. Also love women in a fitting power suit. It's just 😩👌. I wish I could be this cool.

I suddenly accidentally got a Little Monica Giselle head because you don't say no to offers like that. Previous owner was offloading her because of unpleasant memories associated with her

This is what the company faceup and blank pics look like:

And this is what I received.

It was a cute freckly face, but I like doing faceups, so it went off to the ultrasonic submerged in a Ziploc bag of alcohol for 10 min as soon as I got it.

It came out mostly clean other than a little extra scrubbing I did in the nostrils and ears.

I tried in different eye base sizes I had on hand to see which I preferred. I tried out 18S, 18mm small iris (6.75mm iris) pictured on the left 👈. The company pics and yellow acrylic eyes it came with were 16N, 16mm normal iris (8mm iris) which is pictured on the right 👉.

I ended up leaning towards the 18S with the smaller iris size. Unfortunately I don't have any premade eyes in that size so I had to make them. I went with different shades of blues.

But half regretting the color choice wondering if I should have gone with a gradient of red, purple, blue which I was also considering

Since i had no plan for this head and it's low stakes, i decided to try out some different techniques. Normally I do blushing then the linework, but I've seen people do line work first then blushing, so i decided to try it out. I also wondered if i could fake an open mouth on a closed mouth head since her lower lip is fairly thick.

Adding the shadow to the lower lip worked i think and I liked the lashes but something wasnt right with the expression.

After looking at it for a while and then also looking at the company faceup pics again. I realized the brow placement was too high.

I can't quite wing brow placement by diving straight into linework it seems. I guess the vertical strokes makes me unconciously stray vertically. so i went back to placing guide blushing for the brow placement again and this time erased a bit of shadowing in the lips to try to draw in some fake teeth.

the blushing placement was right, but again in adding lashes i somehow strayed vertically again so the brow placement was still a tad high. So I lowered brows again and now i think the expression is finally decent.

I got stuck at this faceup stage for like a week due to the rain, so i played around with trying different black wigs.

the straight wig was nice and smooth, but i didn't want to cover the brows i worked so hard on and redid like 3 times so i decided to go with the curly. She'll be an RBF Snow White.

The weather let up finally, so I was able to seal and then move on to the blushing layer last night.

That brings us to today. Now that I've done some of the eye makeup, i'm debating on going back to 16N eyes for the bigger iris... maybe... then i could do the red, purple, blue gradient i considered earlier.. hmmmm. Well... still maybe want to do some more blushing, so we'll see.

Hybrid successes: Volks SDGr Ariel (pinkish fair)/ Angell-studio mermaid body (milk)

I have to say I love my version slightly customish Ariel over the company fullset. I dyed a light brown lace-front wig a more muted brownish red instead of the more canon firetruck red hair since i preferred that color and noticed that the volks ariel wig sometimes could show the wig cap if you didn't position the hair just so. The texture blue eyes I made after a few iterations of different colors lol.

For the AS mermaid body: though it's too blue to be canon, i dyed the mermaid body a more saturated blue since originally it had was almost a blue grey (faded with time? dunno, it was a 2nd hand purchase) and highlighted the scales blue green mica mixed with acrylic gloss. The purple seashell bra, also came from AS but with a different mermaid. The color is perfect, but i do wish they were slightly bigger, but o well.

Happy Lunar New Year & Year of the Blue Dragon!

These are old pics, but I just love them so much and it's thematic for the occasion.

The pictured one is my beta prototype and is one meter long, but I still need to work on editing the joints so it's easier to assemble & disassemble so that I can make my final dragon for myself that will be 2x size with a length of two meters.

So many bjd projects and such limited time & mental capacity. 😔

omfg guys. i'm so damn excited with how my kind-of-itabag turned out for this upcoming con.

Pictured is a 1/3 scale 70cm Angell-studio mermaid body with a Lin DaiYu head in a bubble backpack pet carrier.

I started out with wondering if she'd even fit in there to then being suggested to try out some iridescent organza fabric in the background and another suggestion to get battery fairy lights. i sourced the fabric first, which was okay. Then found $2 fairylights, but they were softwhite and pretty warm in color. Then i tried out dyeing the lights with blue rit dyemore and voila~ 😍 💞💞
