Ok random ask let's talk about how when jasmine in Cordy's body kills lilah she calls her a stupid bitch which is the same thing Dennis's momghost called cordy in 1.05 which led cordy to feel empowered and reclaim the word bitch only now the word is coming out of her mouth without her permission being weaponized against a woman she did not want to kill. Thoughts?

ok well my first thought is i'm glad there was no one else in the staffroom during my 15 minute morning break today bc i saw this ask and literally had to go pace around and blair witch it in the corner of the room for a few seconds. so yeah. upset.

I did read an insanely good fic a while back (that I think you've also read? tho I now don't remember if you sent it to me or not) that touches a little bit on this and on cordy's feelings towards lilah in general and it made me crazy then and it does make me crazy now thinking about it. everyone should go read if you want to achieve the level of ungluedness some of us are currently on about season 4. it's like. one of the most genuinely harrowing pieces of art i've ever seen put on the internet for free. and i am something of a conoisseur of harrowing internet art so.

other thoughts... just in general i think there's some interesting parallels to explore w cordy and lilah in this season (and incidentally that's something i do plan to dig into in origin of species later down the line). like it's not lost on me that by the end of the season lilah is also in a position of having lost... not all her autonomy, but certainly to a great degree - she's trapped in a contract with wolfram & hart that she can't leave even in death and can't be destroyed. there's something deeply ghoulish about the fact that she dies and her employer still will not let her go. really really makes me wish she was still around in s5 to actually explore that, but i'm maybe getting a bit off topic there.

but yeah, it's heartbreaking, it's even more heartbreaking for the fact that despite being mortal enemies they did at points seem to have some respect for each other and lilah gets taken out in a way that just. doesn't feel like playing fair. i like thinking about what possible dynamics would emerge if cordy and lilah both got to stick around in the show very much. and as much as it sucks at least lilah got to inadvertently call a megalomaniacal and all powerful divine being "twinkie" before she died so. win for her

It was kind of a joke between me and a friend ("you wouldn't judge someone for having gone rock climbing with a bunch of different people") but honestly the more I thought about it the more I bought into it unironically because:

It is a physical activity done with one or more partners

You should only go rock climbing with people you trust to not let you fall

You should not go rock climbing with someone who is drunk or currently incapable of rational decision-making

Some people get super super super into rock climbing and do not shut up about all the places they have climbed and how many are left on their bucket list and these people are usually men between the ages of 20 and 35 and like it's fine dude I'm glad you're happy but I don't know what most of those mountains even are

While many consider it a fun activity, pressuring someone into climbing when they don't want to (or ignoring their feelings and just dangling them off a cliff,) could cause both psychological and physical trauma

There is no moral value to it whatsoever. Who you have gone rock climbing with (or whether you have rock climbed at all) has no bearing on who you are as a person. Imagine telling someone "it's not that heights make you nauseous, it's just that you haven't found the right person to belay you!" or "you need to save your first time rock climbing for someone special." That would be absurd.

For some people it is a deep and moving personal experience.

historically I have not asked myself "will this aggravate my hip flexor injury" before participating when perhaps I should have 😔

i don't really think there's this epidemic of LSN disabled people who want caregivers but don't actually need them and are stealing all the resources. like. do you think most people want someone in my house baby-talking me through dressing myself, and putting my meds bottles back where i can't find them, and undercooking my meals? if i could do my food prep for myself, and was consistent in dressing myself and changing my bedding, don't you think i'd want to do that? i'm autistic. i have extremely specific standards for how i want my house to go, and if my living room rug is slightly moved i have a meltdown. i think any "lazy faker" who manages to grift their way into having a caregiver come to their house to do anything beyond what a hired housecleaner would do is in for a rude fucking awakening and will cancel their contract as soon as they're able. which, ironically, they might not be able to, because of how human services agencies work. and if you get yourself labeled a "vulnerable adult" they don't get their grip out of you very fast.
