A Consistently Expanding Southern California Housing Market

Based in Venice, California, Allen Sarlo emphasizes a personalized approach to selling real estate. Serving clients through RE/MAX Estate Properties, Allen Sarlo stays abreast of trends in the hot Southern California housing market. As reported in the Los Angeles Times, the regional housing market is a frenzied one. A relatively low inventory of homes, coupled with consistent job growth and low mortgage rates, has resulted in bidding wars. This competitive landscape was confirmed in February of 2016, with CoreLogic providing data indicating 9 percent sales growth over the previous year. At the same time, median prices rose 3.7 percent, which marked 47 straight months of growth. The bottom line is that it pays to plan a residential purchase well ahead of time: Orange and Los Angeles County buyers on average put in five bids on homes before they are successful. Areas with significant activity are not confined to the coast or traditionally expensive zip codes. They include the Leimert Park neighborhood of South LA, which is known for its traditional Spanish-style homes.

Allen Sarlo is a longtime Venice, California, real estate professional who works with clients through RE/MAX Estate Properties. An avid cycler and surfer, Allen Sarlo maintains a strong community presence and contributes to the Maui Ola Foundation (MOF) by taking children with special needs on surfing excursions. The THERASurf Foundation Helps Kids with Special Needs
Allen Sarlo, a real estate sales professional in West Los Angeles, has been a surfer for most of his life. He invests his time with the THERASurf Foundation, an organization that is committed to helping kids with special needs safely experience the thrill of the ocean. Allen Sarlo and other experienced surfers instill confidence and courage in kids by giving them an unforgettable opportunity to surf. The THERASurf Foundation was founded by Kim Bordenave Gamboa and her husband Jimmy Gamboa. It started with a desire to help Kim’s son, James, who has been diagnosed with a neuro-genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome. When James spent time surfing with Jimmy, it not only helped James’ balance, it also gave him an undeniable calmness and confidence. After seeing the positive impact of surfing on James, the couple began recruiting people within the surfing community to help other kids with developmental disabilities. The THERASurf Foundation hosts several workshops each year for children with special needs. When a child signs up, he or she is provided with a wetsuit, life vest, and a surfing buddy that will take the time to tailor instruction to that child’s specific needs. The result is an afternoon that both surfer and child are unlikely to forget.

Trend of Millennials Not Purchasing Homes in Los Angeles

A native of western Los Angeles, Allen Sarlo currently serves as a real estate sales professional with RE/MAX Estate Properties in Venice, California. Dedicated to quality service for clients across the Los Angeles area, Allen Sarlo improves his investment tactics by following real estate market trends. According to the LA Times, few young adults in the millennial generation purchase homes in the Los Angeles area because they cannot afford one. Although the economy has begun to improve in the aftermath of recession, millennials still may not be able to afford purchasing a home. The development industry has focused its attention on large luxurious homes for a wealthier clientele. Thus there exist fewer smaller dwellings that would make good first homes for couples just starting out as homeowners. Even if millennials do succeed in earning the funds to purchase a home and find an available dwelling in their price range, they must handle a much greater mortgage than previous generations. This fact alone may make them wary of purchasing a home too soon. Many choose to rent indefinitely.

How Do Realtors Help Home Buyers and Sellers?

Allen Sarlo leverages more than 35 years of real estate experience toward helping his clients buy and sell residential and income-producing properties in West Los Angeles. Throughout his career, Allen Sarlo has focused on providing a full range of services to buyers and sellers in this iconic real estate market. Realtors apply their own market knowledge and research to the behind-the-scenes work of buying or listing a house. While much of the process is invisible to their clients, it is invaluable in finding the perfect home, or the perfect buyer. For example, if you are looking for a new home, they research the market to find houses that fit your specific parameters. If you are trying to sell your home, they can help you assess the property, prepare it for presentation, determine the listing price, and publicize the listing. Having a realtor on your side is particularly helpful if you are unsure how much you should pay for a given property in a certain area, or how much your home is worth. They can also assist you in verifying important details like the availability of utilities, and identifying required legal disclosures.

New England Patriots Sign QB Tom Brady Through 2019

Top-producing realtor Allen Sarlo markets and sells residential real estate with his wife Deborah in Venice, Malibu, and West Los Angeles, California, through the RE/MAX Estate Properties office in Venice. In his free time, Allen Sarlo enjoys watching professional basketball and football. One of his favorite football teams is the New England Patriots. ESPN reports that the New England Patriots have agreed to extend quarterback Tom Brady’s contract for two more years through the 2019 season. That will allow Brady, who will hit 39 in August, to continue playing into his 40s, which he says he wants to do. With a win-loss record of 12-4 in 2015 and a win in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks the previous season, he continues to play at a high level. Under Brady’s current contract, which has two years left to run, the Patriots will pay him $9 million in 2016 and $10 million in 2017. Financial terms of the extension have yet to be released.

Expectations for Southern California Real Estate Market in 2016

A Southern California real estate professional with over four decades of experience, Allen Sarlo works with buyers and sellers as an agent with Re/Max Estate Properties in Venice. To best serve his clients, Allen Sarlo makes it a point to stay up-to-date with the latest trends affecting both the national and local real estate market. According to recently released data from CoreLogic, a property information and analytics company, over 14,600 residential homes and condos were sold in Southern California counties during January 2016. This figure represents a sales increase of 7.3 percent over last January’s numbers and is good news for an area that has been experiencing a purchasing slump as of late. Most experts agree that the decline in real estate purchases in SoCal has been driven by home price appreciation outpacing wage increases, a trend that is common throughout the United States. In Los Angeles, home prices have appreciated 126 percent over the last 15 years, which has put some homes beyond the reach of the average buyer. In 2016, a stronger jobs market in Los Angeles and the rest of the country are expected to enable more people to purchase homes. The National Association of Realtors is optimistic and forecasts that loosening lending standards combined with economic growth will drive up real estate sales in 2016.
