#WestsideGUNN #HitlerWearsHermes7 - this is the 7th mixtape/project in the series and on here #Flygod is sounding like a veteran! Still grimey, still Street, but the beauty and polished sound behind this one shows that he’s got his craft completely on lock as far as making something that perfectly fuses the glamour with the dirt. He’s a character with all the signature adlibs and flows but not to be taken lightly in the least, it’s entertaining but still it’s hard tales from the ground up, along with braggadocio that only the flygod himself can proclaim convincingly as facts. The mood of this album feels just like the time it was released which helped me connect to it immediately upon release, like a cold December day, holiday season in the hood. It should also be noted there’s plenty stellar guest appearances here too, from fellow #GriseldaRecords flagship artists #Conwaythemachine and #Bennythebutcher as well as a dope intro from #Djdrama and verses from #fatjoe, #currensy #boldyjames, #jayworthy, Estee Nack, and more, plus excellent production from #Daringer #DjGreenLantern #alchemist #statikselektah and more that all creates the world of this project seamlessly. #StatueofLimitations by #SmokeDza #BennytheButcher and the legendary #PeteRock on all the production - this #EP is so fulfilling despite its length because of the satisfying high quality of the #Music itself. As Expected, Incredible standout beats being lyrically slaughtered by the tag team of smoke and butcher along with features by #StylesP and the #griseldarecords fam members #Conwaythemachine and #WestsideGunn who make excellent appearances here as well. It’s simply easy to like if you love that street talk along with top notch bars , flows, and instrumentals, especially of the modern boom bap variety with some new flavors sprinkled in as well. #JPEGMAFIA - #Veteran , before I run out of characters explaining it, I’mma go ahead and say this was without a doubt one of the most interesting #albums of the decade, especially within #hiphop #rap #alternative #music, with some incredible experimental and progressive production, it uses elements of trap, hardcore, popular and underground aesthetics and sounds to get its confrontational, playful, and eclectic points across in a direct way while still traveling on a road all its own to do so. #Peggy brings the most memorable of bars after bars with dynamic various deliveries and content that could either potentially throw off your average listener at any point if they aren’t used to or don’t like to occasionally be challenged , but if you’re a listener who generally wants to travel into the depths of an artists’ created universe, it’s well worth it and rewarding to hear some insteresting samples, sharp commentary, funny and very very memorable refrains and one liners, interesting flexes/braggadocio that a former fan of g4tech, Internet, and pop culture fans alike can all be face melted by, with a twist around every corner. Thought it’s hard to put this world into words exactly, after hearing this, you’ll get it. This is his Sophomore set With one of the most star studded feature lists featuring HEAVYWEIGHTS Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes, Anderson Paak, Roc Marciano, Elzhi, Crimeapple, Fellow #Griselda team #BENNYtheButcher and #ConwaytheMachine and Keisha Plum and if THAT wasn’t enough we got INCREDIBLE production by Pete Rock, #theAlchemist, #Daringer, #9thwonder, #Harryfraud and more! with all this, it only adds to the experience provided and curated by star of this show, the #FLYGOD himself. This project sounds uniformally like a dim day where the sun may be behind the clouds but it’s still chilly out, meaning for it being such a super dark grimey, haunting listen, there’s still glimpses of psychedelia, and rays of light and color that manage to shine its way through. It carries a theme loosely of the wrestler #ChrisBenoit (alternate title of this project) not so much in the details of Chris’ life but more the vibe of being the outsider horseman and legendary wildcard of the industry as a whole in feel. Which adds to the subdued aggression & darkness of the vibe here. With added wrestling sample skits and titles to kinda weave it more into the mix of the literal street struggles, personality and hood survived triumph in Gunns actual lyrics. It marries all the signature aspects of WG as an artist in a way that even for how super Raw and underground it is, still keeps very potent in artistic integrity, soul, and beauty. #WestsideGunn #FLYGODisAnAwesomeGod — with an Epic spoken intro from the one and only Master #Raekwon the chef dropping his wisdom, acknowledgments, and salutes, we begin one of the grimiest, yet colorful, enigmatic yet immaculate albums to come out this decade. The #Flygod of #Griselda #records creates such a potent atmosphere on every single song of where he’s been, where he’s at, and why we such be paying close attention. Lyrics range from references to street life, wrestling, and just being the flyest one in the place being the best, business as usual. It’s done in a way that’s action packed with charismatic bar delivery, them signature gun and car Adlibs, memorable one liners for days, and the PRODUCTION, some of the most hardest and unorthodox beats the deep core of #hiphop has to offer with plenty dusty drums, and dark soul sample chops and grimey loops, but only thee most menacing of cuts are allowed here. And if that isn’t salivating enough, the guest features on here hit home runs themselves, with appearances from the other equally lyrically supreme #Griselda boys #BennytheButcher and #ConwaytheMachine doing critical damage throughout, and #Saucewalka with an incredible feature verse on the last track.
