The days drag on as ambertwo is seen writing through her notebook however, today she hears a crash and slam. The slam seems to be coming from outside. Rushing outside she finds herself in a white void with a letter,"Kitakami mysteries untold terror lies." The girl then says,"Kitakami where the hell is kitakami." She pulls out her cellphone and checks. What she finds on the phone is that the usual applications don't work it seems her phone was hack. Shaking and quite freaked out she presses the app and it displays coordinates before the system crashes and resets the phone returning back to normal. The coordinates seem to be for an airport. She then says,"Alright, things have been boring in kanto so I got nothing else to lose." She then sends out a shiny eevee with the eevee asking in a very russian accent,"Kid what is it?" Ambertwo then says,"Gather the rest of the pokemon, we're going on a road trip." her tail wiggles as the eevee replies,"Yeah about that, mewtwo is very busy right now, and your pokemon are busy helping molly build a kingdom for the unown since she's basically the monarch of the entire species." Ambertwo then says,"Oh right I forgot about that." The eevee then replies,"You know you can take me right!" Ambertwo nods saying,"Yeah but i wanted to take the rest. Ya know what whatever i can manage with just you and besides pretty sure there'll be other pokemon there for me to befriend." Eevee nods and the two teleport departing to the old traditionalist region of kitakami in the country of japan.

Missing backstory= Missing context

I wish the Pokémon cannon had not gotten rid of Ambertwo/Aitwo from Mewtwo’s backstory

For those of you who do not know, the Mewtwo in the First Movie once had a more intricate backstory ( which was played in the Japanese version of the movie, but got cut by Warner Brothers studios because of concerns with how American audiences might react). This backstory gives so much context to the movie. Mewtwo ’uncut origin ’ has the same opening as Pokémon the First Movie but then there is deviation of scene where we cut to Mewtwo as a child/baby . Baby Mewtwo then states “ Where am I? What am I? Who am I?” ( the three questions that Mewtwo had asked at the beginning of the movie). Then a new voice of a little girl says “ If your here then you must be the same as all of us are .” We then see a Charmander, a Bulbasaur , and a Squirtle appear ( implying how Mewtwo got a Charizard, a Venusaur, and a Blastoise later in the movie) followed the little girl called Ai/ Amber/ Ambertwo. This where Mewtwo learns they/he/ze/it is a clone , and that they/it/he/ze is in between a Pokémon and a human . The Pokémon, Mewtwo, and Amber play together while Amber tells Mewtwo about the world. Meanwhile we see Dr. Fuji going through his experiment with his hope that his research will bring his daughter back to life. Time then passes and when Amber is telling Mewtwo about the night, when suddenly the Charmander dies (think Thanos’ Snap style, but with sparkles instead of dust) followed by the Bulbasaur and the Squirtle and finally Amber. Before Amber passes she tells of a bedtime story where Pokémons’ tears can bring people back to life (which explains the ending of the movie). Dr. Fuji mourns over the death of his daughter ( finally accepting the death of his daughter although it not clear why he gives up now?). Mewtwo becomes really upset because they/he/ze lost all of their friends. Mewtwo begins crying as he is not able to bring Amber back to life and adding to their/its’ /his/zer confusion about if they/he/ze/it is/are a human or a Pokémon. Finally the scientist see Mewtwo ‘s brainwaves and decide to erase Mewtwo’s mind (explaining why Mewtwo erases everyone’s mind at the end).

As you can see this backstory adds so much context to the First movie. So my question is why the writers have gone out of their way to erase this backstory? We know that people like the backstory because it was remembered and known about. There was the perfect opportunity to bring the backstory back in Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution. However it was not put back into the movie. I cannot help but wonder why? Did the writers not think it was that important (even though it added context to the story)?

I do not understand? To me not including this part of the backstory is like making a cake and not using eggs. The product is still good, but the richness of cake is less. I just wonder what is the motive here? Do the writers think it is too controversial or dark? Do the writers not like that they killed Dr. Fuji, and can no longer make stories about him and possibly Amber? Or that the story is too complex to handle?

I wish the writers had not forgotten or tried to erase that part of Mewtwo backstory because it adds a lot context and richness.

I wanna ask you about ambertwo? If you were to decide what pokemon she would have what would they be? Also how's your day?

Hmm, good question!

If Ambertwo can have a Pokemon team what would they be:

A Rotom given by her father Dr. Fuji, to help start up electronics. Also the ghost type will symbolize Ambertwo in cannon.

A Chansey to symbolize Amber’s caring attitude.

An Alakazam to symbolize Amber’s knowledge and also connection with Mewtwo.

An Umbreon to symbolize Amber’s friendship especially because Mewtwo looks at the moon a lot in cannon.

I can see Aerodactyl to symbolize the cloning of her in the cannon. It can also fly symbolizing how she got around in her remember place.

I can see her using a Politoed that she raised from a Poliwag. The tadpole / frog theme can symbolize the experiments done on her and Mewtwo (amphibians eggs are used a lot in real developmental biology experiments).

I can see her taking the Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle from the lab, but that would be cheating on your question.

Tell me if you agree with these headcannon on ambertwo. I think she has autism and ptsd. Autism due to how she asks and how strangely philosophical she is despite being childish and ptsd due to the craziness she must've endured during the mewtwo project. I also think ambertwo and her mom have a distant relationship like jeff and dr.andonuts from earthbound. They don't hate each other but feel awkward.

I think these are wonderful headcannons, Philosphy123. I agree with them.

I can definitely see Ambertwo having Autism. I think some Autistic people can relate to her talking about the stuff she remembers from the world that she knows. Especially at her age. Also Ambertwo’s “Thank you for caring about me…” may also be relatable to some Autistic people. When growing up in an ableist world , some Autistic people may feel the need to express gratitude to other people for caring about them (as ableism tends to push the belief that Autistic/disabled people are burdens and not people).

The PTSD is a very believable headcannon as there is no Ambertwo as we know it without a traumatic backstory (although I guess coffee shop AUs are possible, but that takes a lot of liberties with the cannon material). I mean something bad had to happen to this character in order to be cloned by her dad. Either from the accident if the cannon is that she survived the accident or from the cloning process if she did not survive the accident. That is a good headcannon too!

I admit that I don’t know enough about the Earthbound fandom to make a judgment, but from what I read on the Wiki I can totally see that too. Especially the “I have not seen you in 10 years.” part.

I also just wanted to let you know Philosphy123 that you should feel confident in your headcannons! They are wonderful, and it would not matter if I disagreed with them (but, I must admit that I feel very honored that you asked me about your headcannons) . These headcannons are yours. How do you think jp mewtwo would react at remembering Amber again?

Hmm, Good question Anon! I am not really sure, because I am not familiar enough with the differences between the original concept of Mewtwo ‘ s character from Japan as compared with the (American) English Dubbed version of Mewtwo ‘s character. However, I will try to answer your question to the best of my abilities.

If Mewtwo remembered fragments of Ambertwo or Aitwo (which is the character’s name in the original Japanese version) at first, and then at some point Mewtwo remembered Aitwo as a whole, it might go something like this:

Mewtwo’s first memory of Aitwo which might be a flash of memory, maybe caused by Mewtwo seeing a little kid or a small Pokémon . The flash of memory doesn’t have be a complete memory of Aitwo , just enough to remind Mewtwo of Aitwo (perhaps a voice , or Aitwo’s arm, or her outfit). Mewtwo’s reaction might be along the lines of “Who ‘s that? “ or “What’s that?”

Then as Mewtwo remembers more and more of Aitwo , Mewtwo might feel sad until Mewtwo remembers that Aitwo wanted it/them/zir/him to enjoy life. You can have Mewtwo leave with a subdued, yet happy expression. You can add lines like something like “I remember you too.” or “I promise to enjoy life!” or maybe a “Thank you.” thanking Aitwo for the good times and advice.

If on the other hand Mewtwo remembers Aitwo all at once , you can write something like this:

If Aitwo is not alive (like maybe Mewtwo finds the memory of Aitwo on a broken computer file that was recovered out of curiosity, or maybe Dr. Fuji lived, or Mewtwo found a fire resistant lab notebook , or something) there might be an expression of shock as memories flow back into Mewtwo’s mind. “What?” Mewtwo might think. Or “I remember!” Or “I remember her?!” Then there might be anger on Mewtwo’s part remembering how they were both treated. It ends with Mewtwo being thankful for the memories that Aitwo gave them/it/zir/him. There might be curiosity about Aitwo and her family too that Mewtwo has after the memories of her. Maybe Mewtwo goes searching for answers or Mewtwo leaves satisfied with what they/it/zir/he knows? The story is up to you Anon.

The last option of this scenario is that Aitwo is still alive or ends up surviving the experiments. This can go between 3 possible ways (there might be more ways, but I am not creative enough for that).

Way 1: Somehow Mewtwo ends up in an alternative universe where maybe the original Ai (Amber) never died (and maybe Mewtwo doesn’t exist in that universe because Dr. Fuji never had a reason to clone Mewtwo). The original Ai meets Mewtwo there , and Mewtwo gets memories flooding back from Aitwo. “You remind me of someone?” After the story is over Mewtwo can have a thought that can be something like “I remember you now! And I will not forget you again!” Way 1.5: Aitwo ends up being cloned again or surviving the first time (maybe a relative, or a coworker of Dr. Fuji continues the work, or Dr. Fuji somehow survives, or Dr. Fuji clones himself first in a different experiment , lol). Aitwo lives and has a chance encounter with Mewtwo. Something about Aitwo sparks a flashback in Mewtwo. Maybe lines can be written like “There is something familiar about you, but what?” Mewtwo and Aitwo then can find out who each other is. The story can end on positive terms like “I am so glad to see you again.” Or bittersweet terms. Or sad terms. Whatever you want Anon! It is your story to tell.

Way 2: Aitwo lives, but never ends up interacting with Mewtwo (or not yet in the story). Mewtwo finds out about Aitwo because Aitwo becomes famous , or does something , or leaves a diary , or a record of some sort. Mewtwo can be watching from afar like maybe a TV screen, or a newspaper , or see some notebook writings, or a picture, a photo album, a song, or a published book, or a person who tells Mewtwo (it doesn’t matter what it is for this side of the story, it is just Aitwo and Mewtwo had not had the chance to interact again yet, but Mewtwo knows of Aitwo’s existence ). Then later Mewtwo finds something fascinating about Aitwo and learns more out of curiosity. Maybe Mewtwo feels a kinship or belonging with Aitwo (it is up to you Anon)? Mewtwo can go on a journey to find out more about Aitwo. It can reveal more about Mewtwo too. “This story, this girl/woman, she reminds me of something.” You can write if Aitwo meets up with Mewtwo or not. It is up to you. Maybe if they meet it can be like “I have so many questions to ask you!” and they can say it at the same time. “It was wonderful to meet you again. I will not forget you this time!” Mewtwo can say at the end of that story. Or if Mewtwo doesn’t meet Aitwo it would be something like “I feel/felt like I know/knew her.”

Way 3: Aitwo is looking for Mewtwo trying to find out about her past (there is also a version where Ai’s mother is looking for Mewtwo instead because she wants answers , or it can be some other relative as well.) After many trials and tribulations Aitwo finds Mewtwo. In this version of the scenario Mewtwo’s would probably be running and avoiding being caught by Aitwo for a while. Mewtwo can say something like “Persistent one aren’t you.” Then you can have Aitwo and Mewtwo continue to play this cat and mouse game. Until one of them gets too curious about the other and starts asking questions. Like if want Mewtwo to remember first “ Why does your voice sound familiar?” Or “Why does she look familiar in the moonlight?” Or if you want Aitwo to convince Mewtwo you can have Aitwo be like “Wait, I want to ask you if you know anything about my family ? You see my name is Ai…” then you can either have Mewtwo remember Aitwo “Ai..? Why does that sound familiar?” The story can continue on with them talking and chatting! “ I remember that skyline of that city.” Aitwo can say. “ You called it your remember place …” Mewtwo replied.

Or another option is to have Mewtwo not recall Aitwo at the moment. “ I know nothing about an Ai.” Then you can have Aitwo say “Please, all that I know is that my father was Dr. Fuji who worked for Team Rocket…” and then you can have Mewtwo be like “I had not heard that name in a long time.” Then you can have one of them try to leave “ I don’t think I can help you.” Mewtwo responds only to have a storm attack or some other obstacles preventing them leaving. You can maybe then Aitwo says something like “Life is too wonderful to leave out in this storm.” And then you have Mewtwo’s be like “Why does that sound familiar?” At the end of the story they promise to never forget each other again. “I will remember you!” Maybe they come over for visits “My dear friend…” they both can say together on the next visit.

Please do whatever you like Anon. These are just my thoughts. I am sure whatever you come up with will be excellent ! Thank you for the challenge. Also I would love to see what everyone else thinks! Especially, because I am no expert.

Alright,time to ask another question. But this time it involves two movie characters. I'm wondering how molly hale would get along with ambertwo. Curious since those two are my main characters of the fanfic I'm writing.

Hmm, very good question philosphy123? Remember that you can do whatever you like! It is your story after all. How would I write a character interaction between Molly Hale and Ambertwo? If they were the same age being children at 5 years old I believe that they would be friends . Maybe they go to a Pokémon Petting Zoo finding the cutest Pokémon to pet. “ Aww , this one adorable!” One of the characters can say or something along those lines. The other character can be like “ This one is so soft!” to the other character. Maybe Dr. Fuji can be taking them around to other places . Then Molly Hale can be like “Your dad is always around! I wish my dad could spend more time with me.” to Amber/Ambertwo. Or if these characters are alone (Dr. Fuji and Spencer Hale are too busy with their research) maybe one of the characters can say “I wish my dad was around more!” Then the other character can say “me too.” Then both Molly and Amber/Ambertwo can laugh together. Or if you want Molly and Amber/Ambertwo to not get along maybe one character can be a brat. I personally think Molly Hale would be the brat, but you can do what you want. “ I want this toy!” Molly can say while taking a favorite toy Pokémon from Amber/Ambertwo. Or “This Snack is mine .” When Both Molly and Amber/Ambertwo have the exact same snack! You can switch the character lines if you want Ambertwo to be the brat. Or if you want both girls to be good, but just not get along you can have them argue over something small like which is the best flavor of ice cream. “Chocolate is the best.” Then you can have the other character say “No , vanilla is the best.” The two characters can get mad and not want to play with each other. Of course this is assuming that Molly Hale and/or Amber /Ambertwo might not had the experiences of the movies yet (which is why I am writing Amber/Ambertwo in this paragraph, because I don’t know if Amber has been cloned yet at this interaction). I am not sure if Molly Hale had the events of the Third Movie happen to her yet either. Remember that I totally trust your judgment , Philosphy123 so you can decide how the story gets told. Now the next possibility is that both girls are traumatized by what they experienced in both movies. Maybe they meet an art therapy group? Or school ? Or maybe they are adopted as sisters? It doesn’t matter. You can have them discuss what they been through. Molly Hale can say that she ruined everything and is deeply regretful for what she done. Something like “I shouldn’t have caused all that trouble.” Ambertwo (because in this case Ambertwo went through the events which ended it up with cloning Amber) can say “it was not your fault that the Unown fed off of your fantasies.” “You ‘re right.” Molly can respond to Ambertwo. Or if you want to flip the dynamic maybe Molly Hale can say something like “ Hey, it is not your fault that you were cloned by your dad because he couldn’t accept your death.” Also it is up to you Philosphy123 , what ages these characters are in this context as well as the interactions . Both characters could still be 5 years old or one character could be older than the other one. Like maybe still a kid but a little older. Like 5 or 7 or teenagers in a sisterly relationship.

The last version of the story is that these characters are older now , maybe 16 through adulthood. Maybe they are trying to figure out what exactly happened to their fathers. Maybe Ambertwo doesn’t know what happened to her father Dr. Fuji. Molly Hale is investigating the Unown and how did her father get involved in the first place. They can talk to each other about their experiences in a more mature way. “How did you deal with the Unown?” Ambertwo can ask. Perhaps Ambertwo is trying find Mewtwo to ask about Dr. Fuji or something? She thought Molly Hale had advice on how to confront dangerous Psychic Pokemon . “ You have to be very careful . “ Molly Hale can reply. “Can you come with me, to help find Mewtwo?” Ambertwo can ask. Depending on the story you want to tell , you can have Molly Hale come with Ambertwo or not. It is up to you. You can have Molly Hale join Ambertwo and have an obstacle that Molly Hale has the Pokémon for. Like maybe they need to surf on a Mantine to get somewhere? Or maybe Molly needs to hold off Team Rocket at some point? A Phanpy can go into battle with the Team Rocket Grunt and maybe Phanpy wins. “This is just like I imagined!” or “Even , better than I imagined!” Molly Hale can exclaim. Or maybe they need a Flaafy to power something on by the lab where Mewtwo was created to continue the story ? Or maybe Molly has a Teddiursa who is needed to cut down a tree which is blocking the way, or maybe they have to build a structure to get up somewhere to continue the story ? You can have Molly hold concern for Ambertwo as well. “Are you sure that you want to do this? You might not like what you find.” Molly can warn. “Of course I do! ” Ambertwo can reply.

I am sure whatever you write will be great Philosphy123! Remember these are just suggestions, and it is your story! You could do whatever you want! I am sure that it will be good! So to give you context deep, my fanfic is a darker take on pokemon with ambertwo dealing with her own desperate need for love and her autophobia while trying to stop a force that threatens their very existence. Ambertwo is very smart and kind but also very impulsive and self- loathing with self-esteem issues and is prone to aggression. also she is 4. Also uniquely in this fanfic she is Mewtwo's half sister and is part mew. Now I needed to contextualize this by having the question. How could i make hazama,dr.fuji's ex wife who divorces him after the mewtwo project, sympathetic while explaining why she rejects the clone and actively pushes her away telling her she is not her daughter. Only asking because my first draft made her too nice and second draft made her too villainous and cold.

Hmm good question? By the way that sounds like an amazing story , Philosphy123 ! I would like to read it at some point in time!

Now what to do for Hazama? So , I always thought that Hazama has accepted the death of Amber . Dr. Fuji has not accepted the death of Amber. That is why Dr. Fuji continues on the project eventually creating Mewtwo, while Hazama divorces Dr. Fuji. As far as Hazama is concerned, she married a mad man/unethical scientist. So Hazama’s response to Ambertwo might be “That’s not my daughter.” or “You’re not my daughter.” Ambertwo might be the on the uncanny valley spectrum for her. Hazama probably doesn’t see Ambertwo as a continuation of Amber the way how Dr. Fuji does. Hazama probably sees an imitation of her daughter, but not her real daughter. Now probably the best arc for Hazama is having her accept Ambertwo as her daughter too. Like , Hazama doesn’t have to buy that Amber and Ambertwo are the same person (because they are not, unless that is the story you are going for, remember this is your story ), but Hazama can accept that Ambertwo is her daughter too. Like how good parents and guardians accept all the siblings of one family (or possibly from multiple families) as their children to take care of and nurture .

Hazama might also feel disturbed that Ambertwo is part Mew. You can justify that by saying something like maybe the original cloning process in Pokémon The First Movie : Mewtwo Strikes Back needs the entity being cloned to have both human DNA and Pokémon DNA to get through the process and survive. This can explain why Mewtwo was the only survivor in the original canon and explains why Ambertwo survives in this universe.

So maybe the best way how to do this is if Dr. Fuji is still alive, he can run over with Ambertwo to Hazama. Ambertwo is either a baby (no or very limited autonomy at this point in the story) or Ambertwo doesn’t hear Hazama’s rage at Dr. Fuji (perhaps after a “ Go play in the garden, Amber/ Ambertwo”) . I imagine Hazama screaming something like “ You mad man, that is not our daughter! I want you to leave! That is not Amber!” You can do a similar thing if Ambertwo is being taken care of by someone else. You can have Ambertwo’s caretaker knock on the door of Hazama and have Hazama respond by saying something like “That ‘s not my daughter. I am not responsible for her/them/it.”

Ambertwo can also come to the door of Hazama herself too (although you are going to have to explain why Ambertwo is alone at 4 years old if you do that). In that case you can Hazama be like “I am not your mother!” This way is the cruelest version of writing this story and if you want to redeem Hazama by the end of the story then you better have Hazama apologize to Ambertwo and repent before the end of the story in this version of events.

Now , if you want to redeem Hazama later in the story then you can have Ambertwo end up in trouble and either have Hazama take Ambertwo out of trouble (maybe Hazama doesn’t recognize Ambertwo at that point like it has been a while ?). Or maybe someone from Hazama’s family brings Ambertwo in. Like, maybe Ambertwo ends up in the area where Hazama is staying ?Ambertwo encounters danger and either Hazama or someone else brings Ambertwo into Hazama’s house get Ambertwo away from the danger. Either a Pokémon belonging to Hazama or a family member of Hazama’s would work well for this. Or perhaps a wild Pokémon will work too, if you don’t picture Hazama taking care of anyone else at this point in time (maybe the wild Pokémon senses that Hazama and Ambertwo are related and tries to help). A force of nature like the wind or a flood will work too (this one is kinda risky for being contrived) .

Once Hazama sees Ambertwo, and knows that the child she helped , or is in her care, is Ambertwo, Hazama can freak out. “AAaahh!” Or if you want a subdued response Hazama can be like “What are you doing here?” Ambertwo can explain. You can have Hazama freak out some more. At the end of the exchange you can have Hazama either chase out Ambertwo or be a welcoming presence. If you want Hazama to chase out Ambertwo then even later in the story you can have Hazama have a change of heart like maybe Hazama hears that Ambertwo is in trouble and comes running to Ambertwo. Hazama can say a phrase like “I can’t lose another one of my daughters!” Or “ I can’t lose you too!” If you want to have Hazama to become a welcoming presence than you can have Hazama take care of Ambertwo for awhile then something happens where Ambertwo must leave again to go her journey (and continue the story). Maybe Ambertwo can take a object which symbolizes the understanding of Hazama and Ambertwo which could become relevant later in the story. It could be anything like a teddy bear 🧸 (or a Teddiursa in this case) or some other plush animal /Pokémon that was formally the original Amber’s , a piece of jewelry: like a locket , a charm bracelet, or a ring, or a sandwich that Hazama made for Ambertwo. Whatever object you want. Then that object can become important towards the end or middle of the story . Maybe someone recognizes the object and sends Ambertwo on the right path. Maybe the object offers comfort for Ambertwo during a stormy night. Maybe the object becomes a key or a map /guide to wherever Ambertwo needs to go. Maybe Ambertwo becomes hungry and eats the sandwich , maybe Ambertwo shares the sandwich with someone/something else? The idea of this , is that the story continues because Hazama was there to put the objects in place to keep Ambertwo going.

Also there is one more way how to write this sympathetic arc . The last way is to have Hazama go with Ambertwo on her journey. There are a few ways how to do this in the story. You can Hazama go with Ambertwo with the ultimate goal of if Ambertwo completes her journey than Hazama will never have to see Ambertwo’s face again. If you want to redeem Hazama , then you must have a either a scene where Hazama changes her mind about Ambertwo in a heartwarming scene or (as a very dark option) Hazama sacrifices herself for Ambertwo. The other option is to have Hazama have Ambertwo’s best interest at heart and Hazama decides helps Ambertwo on her journey because she wants for Ambertwo to be successful.
