“Well – asshole or not, thanks for being my rescuer tonight.”

“Do I get a medal?” he asks, straightening up.

“Hmm.” Kie pauses, pursing her lips. “Medal’s kind of boring, don’t you think?”

Rafe’s eyes darken just a little as his gaze flits to her mouth and back to her eyes.

She continues. “I think we can do better than that.”

A smirk spreads across his face. “Better, huh?”

“Maybe,” Kiara teases, starting to walk towards the stairs up to the apartment. “Depends if you can keep up the good behavior.”

When he answers, his voice sounds a little lower. Deeper. “I don’t think you’re inviting me up to see more of my good behavior, Kie.”

They’re up the stairs and at the door of the apartment in a flash. Before she can unlock it, Rafe grabs and spins her – pressing her against it with his bulk, pinning her hips with his. He leans down to kiss her, and she’s rising up on her toes to meet his mouth.

She parts her lips immediately on a sigh, and she can feel him smile against her mouth even as their tongues meet. His hands are everywhere all at once – running down the sides of her torso, squeezing her hips, grabbing at her ass. The taste of him goes straight into her veins like an injection – mint and sweet iced tea again, accompanied by a faint trace of smoke.

The stubble along his jaw is rough against her delicate skin, rubbing her face in a way that almost burns, but she welcomes the sting of it. His hands, too – his grip is rough, almost bruising, but she relishes it all, the way it makes her feel wanted, so deeply desired he's not able to hold back.

Pushing him further sounds so damn tempting.

“Unlock the door, Kie,” he pants, breaking away to stare down at her. “Unlock the door or I’m gonna end up fucking you out here where anyone can see, and I really don’t feel like spending the night in a holding cell down at the station again.”

She’s… going to have to ask more about that, but not right now.

“Who said anything about fucking?” She’s trying for bratty, wanting to needle him, to push him as far as she can – but the breathlessness in her voice sort of ruins the effect.

His smile is a little reckless, eyes flashing. “You just can’t help yourself, can you?” Her breath catches in her throat as he leans down and skims his lips along her neck. “Keep it up,” he murmurs. “Let’s see how much trouble that mouth of yours can get you in.”

Puritanical People / Judgments on Ships

I hate most of the newer generation and puritanical people trying to impose what they believe around certain ships, topics, and/or content on others. While there’s a line, it’s up to the person to determine what they’re okay with and not policing others.

For some reason, controversial to this group of people is deeply immoral. As if it reflects on them for enjoying something they deem bad or that characters are two-dimensional and unable to grow.

These types of people need to stop forcing judgment on others because they do not know how to disseminate reality from fiction. Puritanical group aside, I somewhat blame the fact that the younger generations grew up with access to the internet very early on. But I also know it’s circumstantial.

This goes for all of the ships out there that have large groups of people who despise the ships because it doesn’t fit in their box. I find it exhausting.

What I wanna know is why can’t they stay in their own areas if they do not like something? I find it so weird when people who do not like a ship are found frequently within that ships tags.

“Actually, I’m surprised you’re such a fan of the dress,” she continued, her voice slowly recovering its typical combative tone. “Thought it’d be too revealing for your taste.”

“Alright, to be clear, it wasn’t my taste that was the problem before. It’s everyone else’s.” Rafe leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. “Anyway – nah, I had a change of heart. You can wear whatever you want.”

“Oh, thank you for the permission – very kind of you.” Her sarcasm was acidic. “Why, may I ask, have you been overcome with such graciousness?” 

“Because I can fight,” he replied with a nonchalant shrug, eyeing her legs again, watching the way she shifted from one strappy heel to the other as she processed his response.

For a long while, Kiara didn’t say anything – just stared at him, her face carefully blank.

Finally, she muttered, “Let’s get back to Sarah’s room.” Trying to move past him, she reached for the small purse on her dresser. 

Rafe snatched it up before she could grab it, wrapping his other hand around her wrist over her charm bracelet and turning her body back towards him. She was uncharacteristically passive as he slid the purse up her arm and over her shoulder, smoothing his hand along the curve of her shoulder when he’d settled the strap on her. Her skin felt so smooth and warm beneath his fingers.

“Whatever you say,” he murmured.
