Season 1, Episode 6: Night and Day

Plot: Because they are as different as night and day, Maggie and Galileo have been arguing a lot lately. But when Mud comes down with a case of the Mumblemumps, the two squabbling Groundlings have to work together to find a cure for it by going to Grey Grotto to find red glowberries.

Story told by Eco:

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful plant called the Flowering Night Blossom Bush that only bloomed at night. It was the prize of the forest. The night creatures would gather round the Night Blossom because it was the coziest place to be, but in the daytime, the Night Blossom Bush kept its blooms closed to protect them. The daisies and petunias thought the Night Blossom was just a boring looking bush, but when one day, there was a lunar eclipse when the moon covers the sun and it gets very dark but just for a couple of minutes. The daytime flowers were terrified, but the Flowering Night Blossom Bush woke up and began to bloom as it always did at nighttime. When the Night Blossom realized the other flowers were terrified of the dark, it told them tales of the nighttime so they wouldn't be scared. The flowers listened in wonder, but when the moon past the sun and daytime returned, the Flowering Night Blossom Bush once again folded up its blooms. In that brief moment, the day flowers learned the truth about the Flowering Night Blossom. Even though it was dull and scrawny in the day, it was special and beautiful in ways they had never imagined.

Season 1, Episode 5: Maggie’s Quest

Plot: Maggie tries to find the magical fenflowers to prove that she's special. However, when Mud/Slinger ends up getting hurt and lost in the woods, Maggie proves just how special she truly is, just by being herself.

Story told by Eco:

A long time ago, deep within the marsh, there lived a very young dragonfly named Maybelline. She was very sad because her wings did not work. Boris and Wilson used to make fun of her because she couldn't zoom and zip like they could. One day, Morris the trout, who lived in the marsh longer than anyone, told Maybelline about the rare pink and purple fenflowers that grew deep in the swamp that surrounded Paradox Pond. Anyone who drank the fenflowers' nectar would have their heart's desire, so Maybelline set off for Paradox Pond. She even got lost until a group of sightseeing horseflies showed her the way. After a long journey, Maybelline finally found the fenflowers, but she was so tired she could only take a few sips before falling into a deep dragonfly sleep. Suddenly she awoke when a gust of wind blew her into the air. She was very frightened but instinctively, she began to flap her wings. To her surprise, they worked. She flew all the way home and arrived to the cheers of all her friends. Boris and Wilson insisted there was no such thing as magic nectar, but she didn't care. It was her belief in the magic of the fenflowers that did it.

I used to watch this tape at my great-grandparents’ house when I was a little girl. They even gave me two storybooks full of these exact stories (which I still have now that they’re both gone). Reading those books reminds me of them and will always cherish forever.

Season 1, Episode 4: Truth & Consequences

Plot: Maggie has been playing a series of practical jokes on her friends. However, when she finds a tree dying of soil erosion, no one believes her.

Story told by Eco:

Marvin loved to tell fibs. Once, he told his parents that his little sister was stuck in the apple tree, but she was only swinging on the swing set. His parents were so angry that they grounded him for a whole day. Marvin couldn't believe it. His parents were really overreacting, but grounded he was and there was nothing he could do about it so he decided to explore the attic. There was nothing up there but his dad's old golf clubs and some suitcases. Because it was dark, Marvin didn't see the golf ball on the floor but that's how he found an old bottle. When Marvin pulled off the top of the bottle, the bottle started shaking and pink smoke starting puffing out. To his amazement, out popped a genie. Of course, the genie had to grant him a wish but according to the rules that govern genies all over the world, Marvin had to get his parents' permission. He ran to ask, but his parents thought it was another fib. Marvin couldn't believe it; his parents were really being stubborn. So he told the genie that he did have his parents' permission. Of course, genies know a fib when they hear one. Because Marvin fibbed, the genie couldn't give him the wish. The rules that govern genies all over the world were very strict on this point. Marvin couldn't believe it; not only had he lost his wish - he was still grounded.

Season 1, Episode 3: Big Dreams

Plot: Galileo builds a boat to complete a mission of sailing to Mount Mumblemoo. But first, he has to overcome his fear of water.

Story told by Eco:

The people of the kingdom of Dala were very unhappy because they had a mean and grumpy king. His name was King Bola. He was so mean some days he would make everyone walk backwards just to see them trip and fall. On other days, he would make everyone balance a banana on their nose. Anyone who couldn't would have to stay in bed all day. Now there was a little boy in the kingdom of Dala named Ram. Ram hated backwards-walking days and banana-balancing days and all the other mean things King Bola made the people of Dala do. One day, Ram went to King Bola and asked him who was the most important person in the kingdom. King Bola answered,

"Why me, of course! I can do anything I want!"

"Anything?" said Ram.

"Anything!" said King Bola.

"Why, can you make your guard stand on his head?"

"Just like that," the king replied.

"Why, can you turn Gulu the elephant pink?"

"Just like that," the king replied.

"Can you stop the sea from rising?"

The king raised his arms and cried, "Just like that!" But the waves came in and covered King Bola from his toes to the top of his headdress. When the people of the kingdom of Dala heard how Ram had tricked King Bola, they all laughed. King Bola was so embarrassed that he went to bed and ate nothing but porridge, and thanks to Ram, the people of Dala never listened to King Bola again.

Season 1, Episode 2: The Featherbeam

Plot: Galileo gets a new pet rainbow-colored Featherbeam, but it soon suffers from a mysterious disease. He soon discovers that the only thing to make the creature feel better is freedom.

Story told by Eco:

One day, a lonely little girl was playing by the sea when she saw an astounding sight: some fisherman had caught a mermaid! The mermaid struggled, but the net held her tight. The little girl heard the fisherman say that they could sell the mermaid to a carnival for a fortune in gold. As soon as they were gone, the little girl knew what she had to do. She took a deep breath, dove into the water and freed the poor mermaid. The mermaid told the little girl that she would grant her a wish. The little girl immediately asked the mermaid to come live with her and be her friend. The mermaid tried to be a friend to the little girl; their favorite game was Go Fish. But gradually, the mermaid stopped talking, her tail became dry and the only thing she wanted to do was sleep. The little girl realized the mermaid missed her friends and the sea and the fresh salty air. She would have to let the mermaid return to her home, but that didn't stop them from being friends for they will always meet where the shore met the sea and the lonely little girl would never be lonely again.

Season 1, Episode 1: Fungus Amungus

Plot: Hoping to become the most famous Groundling in the world, Mud/Slinger finds fame by making fungus cookies with his newest invention, the Mud-a-phone. Unfortunately, a marauding swarm of crunchybugs aren’t very happy. That’s because crunchybugs eat fungus!

Story told by Eco:

In the far-off kingdom of Rampur, there lived a poor boy named Samil. One day, in the jungle, Samil found a creature that looked like a monkey caught in a trap; his name was Alfonso. In return for releasing him, Alfonso gave him a beautiful mango, which is a special kind of fruit, as a gift. But Samil knew this special mango could fetch a good price in the market. That day, the ruler of Rampur himself came to the market and asked the price of the beautiful mango.

"One silver piece," Samil answered.

"What?! No mango is worth such a sum! You will be put into prison for cheating customers!"

Then the ruler chomped into the mango.

"Fantastic! I will pay a gold piece for every such mango you can provide!"

Samil got as many mangoes as he could carry and ran straight to the palace. The next day, Samil went back to the jungle to get more, but he found Alfonso lying on the ground, starving. You see, the mangoes were Alfonso's only food and the tree was now bare. Higher and higher Samil climbed until he was high above the clouds. At the top of the tree, he found the last mango. He plucked it and slid down, down, down to the ground and from that day on, Samil never took more than one mango and he made sure there were always plenty for Alfonso to eat.

Groundling Marsh

Time for my next project - a truly nostalgic one. For any one of those 90s kids who grew up watching quality television shows like me, I’m sure you’ll remember Groundling Marsh. A magical wetland inhabited by unique and unforgettable characters - Groundlings. Join Galileo, Maggie, Mud/Slinger, Eco, Stacks, Hegdish and Crystal as they have many adventures as well as learning valuable lessons. After I watch each episode, I would provide a post with a short description of the episode, write out the story that's told in the episode, give out the names of the songs provided, give my rating of the episode out of 10 and even give out the link on where to watch the episode the post is about.

There’s No Place Like Home

Epilogue

After that narrow escape from Fun-Land Farms, the Sir Eat-a-Lot truck is now covered with leaves and vines to camouflage with the landscape. The back was open and there were unstrapped collars all over the ground. And in the distance was the island paradise of Chicken Island. Now back in their island paradise, the chickens were settling into their everyday lives. The new islanders were delighted to find themselves in such a lovely leafy paradise. They were safe now, safe from Mrs. Tweedy and any other human who wanted to cover them in breadcrumbs and put them into a bucket. Everyone was very happy. The gang got back to their usual tasks: Bunty was busy growing vegetables, Mac was working on new inventions, Fowler was still telling his RAF stories to anyone who would listen, and Babs was, of course, knitting. Babs, being her usual dim self, thought the whole rescue mission was holiday but still thought it was so good to be back home from said holiday. Bunty just sighed and agreed with her friend that it was good to be back home again.

Fun-Land Farms was just a bad memory, although some of the gang had managed to retrieve a few souvenirs on the way back. Mac was excited to be working on a challenging new project - her robot duck was a little unpredictable but, luckily, it only fired laser beams when it had a screw loose. Our Scottish hen kept a careful eye on her robot pet and followed it around with a wrench, just in case. The robot duck was able to make popcorn in buckets from Fun-Land Farms for anyone who was feeling a bit peckish. The rats, meanwhile, were enjoying life, laying on sun loungers and experimenting with a Fun-Land collar they had picked up. Although when Fetcher thought that the collar was making him feel all happy and brainless as Nick said it would, Nick sighed at this, telling him he hadn't even turned it on with the remote control.

Outside their home, watching their happy kingdom once again, Island King Rocky and Island Queen Ginger were happy too. Rocky put his wing around Ginger, telling his wife that they finally got their happy ending. Ginger smiled at her husband, adding that they should instead call this their happy beginning. That's when they seen the cloud-balloon floating down towards them with Molly and Frizzle inside it. Sergeant Molly saluted her parents for her and Frizzle to report for reconnaissance. Sergeant Frizzle reported that there was a chicken farm beyond the north field and there were thirty birds to a cage. All the chickens looked up, alert. Rocky and Ginger gave a knowing look to each other. That's when our island queen began to get ready to lead our friends on another rescue mission.

Back on the mainland, at this mentioned chicken farm, we see Rocky, Ginger and Molly poke their heads out of bushes. They see the thirty chickens in a cage, worried about their fate. Ginger knows that it's go time. She and Molly share a determined look. Like mother, like daughter. Rocky shortly flirted with his wife, asking if crowing is back on the agenda. Ginger flirted with her husband back, replying that crowing was definitely back. That's when our freedom-fighting hen called out to all their friends, ready for their next mission. And so was everyone else. With a mighty COCK-A-DOODLE-DOOO, they were off to rescue chickens far and wide and bring them back to their island paradise. No chicken would be left behind - or made into nuggets! Now while King Rocky, Queen Ginger, Princess Molly and the whole gang were around!

And there we have it. Life on Chicken Island may be back to normal, but not entirely. There were a few changes like Molly and Frizzle now do aerial reconnaissance for chicken farms on the mainland and the chicken and rat crew now liberate those they find. I just hope there will be another film in the future because I feel that these liberations will be the start of another adventure for our chicken and rat friends.

Anyway, thank you for joining me on these posts on Chicken Run and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget for over the past year. Even though it took longer than I expected for the sequel posts, it was still fun to make them for all of you. Now it's time to move on to another project I planned on starting for a while. Hope you will like this one too. Write to you all again next time.

A Nugget Nightmare

Right through the sun, our gang sees no summer holiday paradise but a complete nugget nightmare. They slid right down the chute onto a conveyor belt and saw the hundreds of chickens slide down after them, four in a row. Terrified, Molly looked up to see Ginger still looking for the remote control. Ginger glanced down and saw Molly and the gang on the conveyor belt heading for the processor. She then looked behind her to see Mrs. Tweedy still hot on her tail with her axe and a crazed look in her eyes. Rocky, meanwhile, managed to free himself from the cables and managed to climb onto a high girder. Our island king then went to go rescue his wife. Down below, Molly and the others were dangerously close to a bread-crumbed end. Frizzle looked up and pointed Molly to all the buckets they were both once excited about. Our island princess also saw Ginger being cornered by that evil woman - and the remote control hanging in the wires.

Seeing the buckets and the remote, Molly got an idea. She tells Frizzle to get on Bunty's shoulders. Frizzle asks why but Molly just tells her to trust her. Doing as Molly said, Frizzle climbed on Bunty's shoulders, then Molly clambered up the two of them. As the buckets passed overhead, Molly leapt up and swung herself onto a bucket. It carried her up, up, up to the control room overhead and the battle between Tweedy and her mother. The whole gang cheered Molly on as she jumped off the bucket, leapt across a gap onto a beam and headed towards the remote. She began the edge her way across a wire to get to the remote, balancing like an expert tightrope walker. Rocky shouted to Molly in shock - his daughter was in danger! Molly just shouted to her father that she got this and that he should help Ginger.

Ginger, meanwhile, was in big trouble. Mrs. Tweedy was almost upon her with the axe - and our trapped island queen had nowhere left to go. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Molly edging towards the remote, her eyes wide with fear. Tweedy saw the fear in Ginger's eyes and looked towards the hen's eyes pointed to. That's when the evil woman saw Molly reaching the remote. Ginger tried to warn Molly, but Tweedy grabbed our island princess. Looking back and forth from Ginger and Molly, Tweedy made the connection - Molly was Ginger's child. Molly threw the remote to Ginger, who caught in in a second. The young hen cried out to her mom that the gang and the chickens were going over the conveyor belt. Down below, the gang were desperately trying to stop the wave of chickens. Bunty cried out that they can't hold them much longer! They were about to be swallowed up by the nugget processor!

Ginger's hand hovered over the button. Mrs. Tweedy tutted at Ginger, holding an axe over Molly, who shouted to her mom that she can't wait and just push the button. Ginger was in a terrible dilemma. If she pressed the button, she could save all the chickens. But what would Mrs. Tweedy do to Molly? At that moment, Ginger spotted Rocky sneaking up behind Mrs. Tweedy. He grabbed a cable to get ready to swing down to rescue his family. Rocky caught Ginger's eye and nodded to her. Ginger looked back down to the gang below and then back at Rocky, remembered what her husband once said to her, "Sometimes you've just got to take a leap". That's when she hit the big red button. The lights on the collars below flickered out and at once, the chickens woke up, not knowing what had happened.

That's when Rocky the Flying Rooster came to the rescue! He crowed a mighty crow as he swung towards Mrs. Tweedy. He missed her, but used the cable to wrap around the axe and yank it out of her hand. Molly saw her chance to escape and bit Mrs. Tweedy hard on the hand. Tweedy cried out in pain and threw Molly who screamed as she fell into the processor, but Ginger caught her just in time. Now both of them were dangling above its gaping mouth! Mrs. Tweedy, meanwhile, watched all the chickens below realized what was happening and started racing away from the processor as fast as they could. Her fortune was escaping once again! Growling, the wicked witch marched towards Molly and Ginger but Rocky swung at her again. Tweedy dodged him but the axe, still tangled in the cable, sliced off the top of her hairdo.

Rocky dropped from the cable to try to help his wife and daughter, who were slipping into the deadly processor, little by little. Ginger slipped off the edge of the platform she was on, but Rocky managed to grab her leg. Now our island king was hanging on the edge with his queen and princess dangling from his grasp. A very angry Mrs. Tweedy marched over and snarled as she raised her boot to send the Rhodes family to their nugget nightmare. She knew that these three chickens would make a bucketful. Ginger saw the axe, swinging round again. She smiled at Tweedy, echoing the words she had once said before, "Bye-bye - again!" Mrs. Tweedy looked surprised. The axe whizzed up behind her, hitting her in the head. She groggily walked backwards, knocking herself into the processor. The machine shuddered and began to make loud grinding noises. Rocky pulled Ginger up to safety and then they both pulled Molly up to safety as well. They were all safe at last! This would have been a good time for another family hug! However, they still had to escape the building so they made their way to join the others.

Outside, the Sir Eat-a-Lot truck was still waiting for the nuggets to arrive. Smith was starting to grow impatient. Behind him, a door began to rattle on its hinges. Sounds of clucking and flapping could be head from within. As the puzzled man approached it, there was a deafening rumble. Suddenly, the door flew open and a sea of chickens burst out, led by Bunty, Babs and Mac. Smith and a guard were flattened! Bunty, Babs and Mac herded the chickens into the truck while the rest of the gang headed for the front of the truck and jumped into the seats. Rocky, Ginger, Molly and Frizzle took the stirring wheel while Nick and Fetcher took the pedals. Even though Nick told Fetcher he know how the pedals worked, it's clear he may not know entirely. But that doesn't matter now because they had to go! So they started to take off, only going backwards. They tried again, this time going forwards, driving at high speed.

Meanwhile, a giant bread-crumbed heap was coming down the conveyor belt leading to outside. Smith climbed out from the smashed down door and angrily approached the heap. The heap slowly got up and he realized it was Melisha, completely deep-fried in bread crumbs, dressed up like a nugget. Ignoring Smith, a very angry Mrs. Tweedy took off after the truck with her axe in hand. Back in the truck, Ginger happily pointed her family to the exit below. Suddenly they heard a thump above them. It was Mrs. Tweedy, angrily axing her way into the truck through the roof. Rocky, Ginger, Molly and Frizzle swerved the truck, trying to knock Tweedy off while still keeping on course to the moat bridge. A gate guard saw the truck swerving madly down the driveway and rushed to pull up the drawbridge and stop them from escaping.

Now Rocky, Ginger, Molly and Frizzle watched in shock as the drawbridge was staring to close up. And to make matters worse, Mrs. Tweedy managed to open up the roof, snarling at the chickens below her. Frizzle gasped, giving us a legendary reference quote from Jaws, "I think we're going to need a bigger bucket!" Tweedy swung her axe at the Rhodes family and Frizzle as the truck continued to swerve. Just as the wicked witch was about to swing again, along came Fowler whizzing down his zip wire on a coat hanger. As the truck careered over the bridge and landed on the other side of the moat, Fowler smashed into Mrs. Tweedy, sending her head over heels into the water. The old sausage crashed into a tree, bounced down all the branches and somehow landed on his feet. No one was more surprised than him. The truck stopped to pick him up and he saluted to Ginger, Rocky, Molly and Frizzle who were happy to see him. After all, he was T. I. Fowler - Getaway Division, reporting to duty. Ginger saluted him back, telling him, "Where would we be without you, Fowler?" Fowler hopped inside the truck and they all drove off at speed.

Back at the farm, Dr. Fry climbed up the wall looking for his wife. He looked in the moat and saw Mrs. Tweedy in the water, glaring and covered in soggy breadcrumbs. Dr. Fry reported to her that the processor is dangerously overheating. But then he began to notice a small group of robot ducks swimming towards her, their laser eyes flashing. Mrs. Tweedy was starting to get nervous and so was Dr. Fry. He tried to warn her to watch out for the explosion that comes afterwards, but too late. There was a huge KA-BOOM! As the truck continued to drive off, the chicken and rat gang could hear the explosion. The whole of Fun-Land Farms had been blown to smithereens. But at least, they were all safe and sound, and on their way back home. And at this inopportune time, Fetcher realized he had left his umbrella in there.

Well, that was certainly a narrow escape but at least everyone is safely out of Fun-Land Farms and Mrs. Tweedy has once again been defeated. She and her partners will never bother them or any other chicken ever again. Best of all, Rocky and Ginger got Molly back, safe and sound. The Rhodes family are together again and are closer than ever. Now our chicken and rat gang can get back to their normal everyday lives. Or will they?

The Escalator of Doom!

As our island family went to put their plan into action, Mrs. Tweedy was meeting with Reginald Smith in the courtyard. He got something out of his pocket that looked like a ring box. As he opened it, he told Melisha that he had something for their big day. The evil witch was flattered and smiled at first, but her face dropped and she sneered when she saw what was in the box - what she thought was ketchup. Smith corrected her, saying it was something completely new that he calls it The Dip. Tweedy tasted it, describing it as sweet. Smith added that it was also sour. The wicked woman held up her walkie-talkie, telling Dr. Fry it was time to make some nuggets. The scientist did as he was told and adjusted the remote that controls the collars to "ALL CHICKENS".

Just as he was about to hit the button, another remote hits him on the back of the head. Dr. Fry turned to see Rocky and Ginger, or as he calls them "the funky chicken" and "the ginger one", standing behind him. Knowing that his wife will not be happy about this, the scientist lunged towards them, but our island king and queen were ready for him. They shot off in opposite directions, pulling a trip wire out of measuring tape tight as they went. Dr. Fry tripped over it and landed in a wheeled office chair. He whizzed across the balcony, down the steps and through the control room, where he collided with a large egg sculpture. The egg tumbled and landed right on Dr. Fry's head! Rocky cried out an egg-cellent joke: "See you on the flip side, egg head!" Oh, brother. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Rocky and Ginger then heard Tweedy's voice shouting on Dr. Fry's walkie-talkie. Our island queen then urged our island king on with the plan. Mrs. Tweedy was very, very angry. Where was Dr. Fry? Why wasn't the processor working? She had to find him so she got into the elevator. When she reached the control room level, the elevator doors opened and she found her brilliant yet bumbling scientist husband stumbling around with an egg head. And to our worst nightmare, she spotted Rocky and Ginger. The three of them looked at each other. Then they looked at the three remote controls. Who would get there first? Rocky leapt and grabbed the nearest remote control while Mrs. Tweedy snatched another. Rocky hit his button first - only to find that his worked the coffee machine. Tweedy checked her remote - she had the right one! She grinned in triumph, ready to make some nuggets and pressed the button with Ginger watching in despair! Now things are getting real. 😳

Down below, all the chickens' collars began to flash. Happy music played - the song Summer Holiday by Cliff Richard to be exact. The cheerful chickens all thought they'd won a holiday. They looked toward the fake sun, little knowing that a nugget nightmare awaited them. Molly and the rest of the gang were with them, hiding behind some fake bushes. Molly peered out at the chickens, knowing this wasn't good. As the escalator hill started to open up, our island princess looked for Frizzle amongst the crowd. Soon she spotted her friend gazing dreamily at the fake sun and heading for the escalator of doom! Molly and Mac ran over to her. Molly grabbed her and tried pushing her back, while Mac whipped out Babs' tool and began to unpick Frizzle's collar. Molly then saw the other chickens flocking towards the escalator. She knew they all had to work fast!

The only thing that could stop the nugget-making process was pressing the correct button on the correct remote control and switching all the chickens' collars off. Up above, Rocky realized that the third remote control must be the right one - he had to get it! Our island king leapt towards it and got it, only to have Mrs. Tweedy stride over, knock him over the balcony and sending the remote flying. Ginger saw everything and came to rescue. She got to the balcony edge and saw that her husband had landed in a spaghetti-like tangle of cables and the remote control found its landing place on a platform high above Fun-Land. Then she heard a crash behind her and turned to see her terrifying nightmare come to life. It was Mrs. Tweedy holding an axe with a menacing glint in her eyes! OH NO! NOT THE AXE!!! 😱

Ginger did the only thing she could do. She jumped off the balcony - backwards. Mrs. Tweedy dashed to the edge and looked down. Like a ninja, our determined island queen was running along the platform to reach the remote. That evil woman was still onto the feisty hen and climbed over the balcony to follow Ginger. Rocky was still struggling in his cables and shouted encouragement to his beloved wife. Ginger got to the remote but Mrs. Tweedy had caught up and kicked the remote away. Ginger watched as the remote went flying somewhere else. She then turned to that deranged woman and continued after the remote, as Mrs. Tweedy raised her axe and went after her. Hurry, Ginger! That woman's coming after you! 😰

Down below, the chickens were continuing to head to the fake sun to their summer holiday. At first, Babs did think they were going on a holiday. Bunty brought her back to reality, reminding her that their nemesis was going to turn everyone into nuggets! Fetcher even danced and sang with the song until Nick told him now was not the time for that. Molly continued to push back Frizzle as Mac continued to pick at Frizzle's collar until finally, off the collar sprang and Frizzle blinked. Our frizz ball looked around confused, wondering what was going on. Her best friend Molly explained that this place is not the best place ever. That you only get your own bucket when they've chopped you up and cooked you. At first, Frizzle was shocked by the news, but then started to think and realized what Molly had done. She came back for her friend. All because that's what friends do. "It's me and you, kidda. All the way". 🥰

Before long, there were hundreds of chickens marching towards Molly, Frizzle and the gang. Mac cried out to her friends to try to push them back. They all desperately pushed them in the opposite direction, but there was far too many chickens. They were swept onto the base of the escalator. There was nothing they could do but be carried along to the other side. To the cold, grey world of nugget processing that lay behind the fake blue skies and green grass.

Now things are really getting serious! Even though Molly had managed to get the old Frizzle back, now she and her friends are about to be put through the nugget processor. Rocky and Ginger are in trouble as well. Mrs. Tweedy is onto them and trying to keep them away from the remote that will stop everything. Will our chicken and rat gang be able to stop this evil woman once and for all? Let's hope so!

Announcement!

Since I have a couple of parts left for Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, I have decided to start a new project after I’m finished. I've been nostalgic lately so I have been going down Memory Lane with my childhood shows on various sites and apps, and one of the shows I loved when I was a kid is Groundling Marsh. I don't know how many people remember it but it was a pretty classic children's puppet series.

Groundling Marsh takes place in a magical swamp. Most of the mutant-like characters are Groundlings but look very different from each other. They can be described as any combination of animal, human, elf and plant. One of the characters is a robot named Stacks. Generally, humans never appear in the series except as an alien presence represented by a boot or a voice. Most often, humans come to the marsh to dump trash and disrupt the ecosystem. The show was designed to be educational so the story of each episode includes morals such as friendship, honesty, caring and protection of the environment. Not to mention there are songs included in each episode and a special animated story mostly told by Eco.

Characters

Galileo - a young leader Groundling. Relatively elf-like in appearance and perhaps meant to resemble a Native American person. He calls himself an explorer so he is constantly exploring and mapping the marsh. He is also curious about the world beyond the marsh, where the humans live. He built Stacks out of pieces of junk that humans dumped in the marsh. He is very friendly, but will sometimes lose his patience.

Maggie - a young tomboyish Groundling. She is roughly humanoid but more animal-like in appearance than some of the other Groundlings. She is an extremely rambunctiously energetic sporty female that often gets herself into trouble due to her sometimes immature behavior. However, she is very well-intentioned, tries to help others, and is curious about the world around her. She is often seen carrying a small, green, stuffed animal whom she calls Mossy Bear and whom she treats like a friend.

Mud/Slinger - the only Two-Headed Groundling in the world and the resident inventor. Mud and Slinger are really two separate individuals who share a body. Mud has light purple skin, a round face, spectacles perched on his nose, and is the one who does most of the scientific research and inventing. Slinger has green skin, more angular facial features and is more of a salesman, concentrating of finding uses for the inventions and relying more on intuition then knowledge. Both Mud and Slinger have troll-like appearances with large furry ears and bright blue-green except on their faces, hands and toes. Mud/Slinger is the strongest Groundling in the marsh and is always creating inventions out of the junk that humans throw away. Often, these inventions malfunction.

Stacks - a large robot that Galileo built out of junk that humans have brought to the marsh and brought to life by a powerful lightning storm. He eventually becomes a mobile unit when his essential components are placed in a special motorized vehicle (which Mud/Slinger created for him using an old shopping cart) and for which he is very grateful (thought he gets carried away at first). Mostly, he is humble, kind and tries to answer the Groundlings' questions with information from his database. He sometimes feels insignificant being "just a machine". He has a long neck that looks like a very thick vacuum cleaner tube. His head is a tall metal canister with a handle that forms his nose, a large mouth at the bottom, a pair of eyes farther up and a hairbrush on top. Several cables dangle from his head down to the heap of machinery below him. A computer monitor forms his chest, while further down a reel of film from a film projector on one side and a mechanical arm on the other side protrude from the heap.

Eco - a teacher mostly human in appearance and a source of guidance and solace for the Groundlings. Having lived in the marsh for over 2,000 years, she is the wisest and most spiritual of the Groundlings, and is kind, with a quirky sense of humor. She is the keeper of Groundling Mythology, which holds the answers to most of nature's secrets. Her beliefs are similar to that of Romani and, to a lesser extent, Buddhists. She can talk to animals and takes care of the marsh. Sometimes Eco temporarily gives an important duty or the responsibility of a rare plant or artifact to Maggie or Galileo (often to test their virtue and help them learn life lessons about responsibility).

Hegdish - a trickster, a rival, a grouch, and the show's only antagonist (added in the second season). Cynical, pessimistic, sarcastic and lazy, he sometimes makes the effort to horde the things he likes, trips up the plans of the other Groundlings, give misleading information, and waste resources. His bitterness springs from his back story (back when he and Eco were much younger and good friends) in which they were both given the chance by the Tree Elders to learn how to speak with animals and be granted other powers and responsibilities. Now Hegdish jealously ridicules Eco whenever he can. Despite generally avoiding his fellow Groundlings, Hegdish will often share knowledge from his travels and sometimes cooperate with them.

Crystal - Eco's grandniece who is introduced around the end of the third season. She is sweet, bubbly and resembles a soft bunny that lives in a beautiful cavern. Her long ears giver her the power to hear long distances and because she is an Undergroundling, she can also see in the dark. In her introduction episode, Crystal comes to visit Eco and has to wear glasses to protect her eyes. She soon becomes fast friends with Maggie. While not one of the original characters, Crystal continued to appear on the show, sometimes as the main protagonist of an episode. A running gag is Hegdish's tendency to annoy her by mispronouncing her name like calling her Crispy, Creepy, Cookie, Cracker or Christmas.

Anyway, what I thought I'd do is after I watch each episode, I would provide a post with a short description of the episode, write out the story that's told in the episode, give out the names of the songs provided, give my rating of the episode out of 10 and even write out the link on where to watch the episode the post is about. I thought this would be a fun little project during any spare time I have.
