The Return Of The Wakka Wakka – PAC-MAN And The Ghostly Adventures He’s Back and just in time for my first proper video recordings so i decided to use PAC-MAN’s new 3D romp as a test case for my video editing skills which btw is quite rusty now. This new game is a return to the PS1, PSP and PS2 PAC-MAN games, a comeback that i have been waiting for and honestly, i had given up the hope to see on the PS3, just like Spyro, CrashBandicoot, Frogger and so on. The game is quite varied really and has a lot of character/power-ups that changes PAC-MAN into a new character which adds a few nice touches to the game and while it is nothing mind-boggling it is still fun and keeps the game fresh. I have created a video showing some of the game modes and levels and i have tried to not spoil the game for you guys. I still have not figured out how to add the microphone to the recordings (while playing) but i will figure it out soon..i hope… see video below. Ok so that’s all, https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=1112&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Long Time Friends : Mortal Kombat Collector’s Edition My fever for Special Editions actually started with this Mortal Kombat reboot. I have always been a fan of the saga, ever since I saw the arcade cabinet of MK inside a mid-western Texas cafeteria, but I never played it that much. Mortal Kombat is one of those games that can really be unforgiving, and I never had particular skills to beat a …. beat’em up! Nonetheless, after few years of edulcorated contents, MK finally came back with a vengeance, returning to its roots. Mortal Kombat Kollector Edition Front Mortal Kombat Kollector Edition Back Mortal Kombat Kollector Edition Side Mortal Kombat Kollector Edition Side 2 This Collector Edition features a nice diorama in which Scorpion (creator Ed Boon’s preferred character) is kicking Sub-Zero ass https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=705&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

What A Day – Updated The Website To php7 + More Earlier today the blog crashed and all that showed was a “White Screen Of Death”, with no error messages or anything like that and it is safe to say that we started to panic a bit here at the blog. We double checked all the domains and it took a while before we had to contact the provider for some help. Access was gained a few moments later and the first thing that was mentioned was all the changes we had done the last few weeks in regards to going SSL and preparations towards php7.2 and yes even WordPress5.0. Had we done something wrong?  Had we forgotten something important? Are we being hacked? After some heavy debugging and most likely my busiest coffee break ever, there was a plugin or two that messed up the whole website due to the auto upgrade of php7.2 (Plugins that was supposedly working fine according to compatibility charts/tests).  The website was left alone for 4-5 hours with https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=29189&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Shop Display : Nintendo Gamecube I finally got hold of a Nintendo Gamecube, it is the first GC that i have ever owned, and i am quite excited to give Mario Kart and such a go. I didn’t plan on getting a GC at this point but sometimes i come over some special deals so things just happen, and this time around i came over something really special and maybe most of all, it was really cheap. Here you can see the GC, it came with 3 controllers, 2 of them quite bad but the unit itself was mint… This picture should give you a hint what i bought, i can share with you that it weighs over 120kg and that it is around 2m tall. Yup, it is an actual shop display unit, incredible right?. Well, do you know what i paid for it? , prepare for a shock, heh, the price was on 37 Euro’s, yes you heard me. Both controllers on the actual stand have to be replaced, i have no idea if i can get new sticks but changing the whole controllers https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=11162&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

A Taste From The Past – Dragon’s Dogma Review At the end of 2011, Capcom revealed his project for a new IP (intellectual property) called “Dragon’s Dogma“. Judging by the first impression reports and the initial screenshots, it was supposed to be a very promising title and I was really interested in it. The game was a classic RPG but, coming from a Japanese software house, there were good chances it had the “J” factor in it. In my opinion, the news had a positive and a negative side: the game looked appealing and I really wanted to try it out; at the same time though, I felt I did not have the strength for such a venture since I had just finished FFXIII (it took me a couple of years to do it!) and I was literally exhausted. At a certain point, the official demo appeared on PlayStation network, so I decided to spend a little bit of time with it. The game looked good, featuring a very strong character-build section, nice graphics, nice music and sound https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=520&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

PS3 Stinkers Of 2013 – Part 4 – The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct Oooops, it’s time for the 4th stinker(s) of 2013 articles series and this one game might not come as a huge surprise to many as it has been pretty well covered in the press with so much negativity that one has to ask how on earth the developer and the game got out on the market, oh and yet again it was another pretty famous developer who’ve got lured into the shitter by none other than Activision.., i am sorry to announce the 4th game as: Typical Activision.. they just had to do a cash-in because of the Hit game from 2012 by TellTale and of course because of the amazing tv series, they probably put out a 6 months contract on it and expected the developer to do something amazing of the time and i am also 100% certain that Activision wanted nothing else than an FPS game and they succeeded in creating one of the worst games in 2013 and possibly one of the https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=944&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Back To The Roots , it’s M.A.C.E. Time. Typical Amiga game scene .., last week we had a Shoot Em Up game released and now this week we got another one, i am not negative here but it feels odd as we haven’t had a decent commercial (at app store price) shoot em up game on the Amiga in years and now we get 2 in a little over 1 week?. M.A.C.E. has had a long time coming, there’s been a lot of talks on the forums and even teasers every now and then too, the game is developed by Entwickler-X and Amiboing.de and it’s one of the few who use the Achievement system as well as the online leaderboard systems so their games are pretty popular i think. A few days ago the friends at EntwicklerX sent me this photo, just to tease me as they know i am a sucker for box art and boxed retail games so naturally, i will buy a few copies for safekeeping now when i have the chance. The actual full game is not out yet but https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=544&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Japan Madness – Moe Chronicle A few days ago I received my Easter present, a pack filled with games and figurines directly coming from Asia. Actually, not all the content was mine (my son wanted his part too), but this Moe Chronicle sure was. The Japanese box doesn’t bear a PEGi code, but I’m pretty positive it must be at least Over 16. Anyway, the game is a Role-Playing one, developed by Silicon Studio and published by Compile Heart. The Japanese release dates back to 2014, but only a few months ago it sported a full English translation. The word moe (pronounced [mo.e]) was still an uncertain origin, yet it has now expanded to directly indicate a very peculiar style of drawing and dressing. According to Wikipedia, it refers to feelings of strong affection mainly towards characters in anime, manga, and video games. Moe, however, has also gained usage to refer to feelings of affection towards any subject, often leading to sexual feelings and desires. https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=12927&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

I Really Need To Send These To Tony :( I suppose you’re wondering what it is. Well, it’s a bundle of boxless  ps1 games. Tony sent them to me to post on but I’ve had an awful year this last 8 months what with bankruptcy medical problems, an operation as well as crime rearing its head I’m surprised I’m still sane. And to be honest I forgot all about them. And I also forgot royal mail wanted 40 pounds to send them to Norway FFS. Well, it’s now one of my resolutions to get them sent. I have also just come back onto ps4 so my username is Orbilator in case you all forgot lol.

In Review: Loot Crate Subscription – August 2016 Another month, another crate and yet again i forgot all about it. The last few LootCrate months have been quite good really and well above my expectations so this months wait was a bit harder than before. One of the reasons why this crate post is late (by a month) is because of its size, yes when it is bigger than my snail mailbox then i have to pick it up at the local post office. How can that make this post delayed by a month you say?, well i forgot to pick it up and it was nearly returned to sender (i picked it up the last day), while being quite frequently at the post office this was not the case the last 20 days or so, must be a new record…. Let’s take a look inside then, shall we?   The crate this month looked like it was about to burst open before i opened it, in an opened state it looks quite good too, expectations are high as said but i prefer quality over quantity. A Look At: Dead Or Alive 5 – Collector’s Edition This is by now a very old item and while i just recently acquired it i still have to admit that i haven’t seen it before now. Dead Or Alive ain’t my favourite fighting franchise as i was more of a Tekken and Rival Schools fan on the PlayStation One and before that, well, Mortal Kombat was very high on the list. Needless to say is that i bought the first DOA game based only on the “boobs” engine and i am sure that i ain’t the only one that did that. Good game or not, titties sell and Tecmo knows that. I thought this was just another Steelbook edition at first… but when i unpacked it and noticed the size and weight, woohoo! – a huge steel box thingy. Lovely embossed design and the colours work really good with the black matte base colour. This is the game box that is included, i have seen other pictures online and i noticed that https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=26526&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Powered By Amiga, it’s Mad – Mad Dog MCCREE Mad Dog MCCREE is a very old Arcade game, it was released in 1990 and became an instant smash hit in a matter of days, the game is just a simple shooting gallery game but things like the huge backlit screen and plastic guns and Co-Op play made many overlook the plain and linear gameplay.   Mad Dog McCree was released on the PSN last week and i have waited a long time for it to be released as back in late 2011 there were rumors about these old FMV Laserdisc games getting a remake/re-release for various formats and since then we have got Dragon’s Lair, SpaceAce, and another Cowboy game Fast Draw Showdown.   The game itself is pretty straightforward, it’s a movie running/movie rail shooter and you only steer a reticule, on this PS3 version you can only use Playstation Move, there is no way to play it unless you have one. The game has a level select that will add a little gameplay variety to https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=360&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Book Review: The Story Of The Commodore C64 – In Pixels Chris Wilkins did it again, yes he managed to write yet another “must have” book for the retro scene. This time it is about the Commodore C64 and what it had on offer compared to its competitors, and maybe most of all it shows why the “breadbin” won the 8bit generation. The book started out as a Kickstarter project, and like many, if not all retro book projects so far it got funded in a very short period of time and that meant lots of freebies for the pledgers, more about these later on. The book version i opted for was the standard one (no hardback this time around either), i have no idea why i did that but i tend to click pledge a wee bit too quickly sometimes when it comes to “Amiga/C64” related stuff. The quality of the binding and cover is fine, smooth with embossed logos etc. In Pixels is one thick book, 260+ pages with games, music, https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=14066&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Portable Game Console… Here’s a little handheld/portable/mobile oddity that my 3-year-old son found in a local shop, well actually he found 2 different portables but i only bought one of em for now. So for about 25 GBP, we got 120 games! , 120 sports games it says on the box and in the main menu of the game, little did i know was that Tetris was a sports game but according to this unit it is a sport. Other games including a pretty decent platformer game and a few not so good ones. There are even some driving games and shoot em ups too. The specs on the back side of the box are: Headphone Socket. 2.7″High-Resolution Colour Display. Requires 3xAAA Batteries. 120 built in Sports and arcade (huh) games. Portable Game Console. The specs on the front of the box are: Earphone Jack 3.5mm 16-bit. 2.7″ LCD Display. Built-in 120 games. Portable Game Console. The specs according to the unit itself: Oplayer. (also the OS seems to be Oplayer(?). 2.5″ High Resolution https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=175&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

Trophy Hunter The Game! – Hunter’s Trophy Hunter’s Trophy is a hunting game where you hunt for trophies and that is a very good thing if you are a trophy hunter! but instead of shooting tin cups and whatnot you actually shoot birds and animals and visit the occasional shooting gallery. Hunter’s Trophy is actually a well-done game compared to many other hunting games but that doesn’t mean that this is an “instant buy” though. Hunter’s Trophy comes in a big package, it includes a “plastic” gun which looks cheap and feels cheap but the overall look and design of the big box (and Blu-ray cover) is pretty much up to scratch. Here’s a closer look at the big box design and info, it comes in several languages and that’s for both speech and text which is quite surprising as this is a “budget” game from BigBen. Here’s another shot of the back of the big box design, looks good and not “lying” in any way either. The box was and is meant to https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=395&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost

A New Beginning – Spider-Man VR Despite a troubled beginning PlayStation VR is here to stay. Of this I am sure, yet real products are still rather difficult to find and a true killer application, Resident Evil 7 aside, is probably not around the corner. Nonetheless, VR software keeps coming, even though they often are nothing more than a quick experience. Spider-Man Homecoming, for example, is just that, a 10-minute-experience meant to hype you up while you are waiting for the movie to come out. So what is going on over here? – you may ask. Well, you start on a rooftop just to find out the new outfit that Tony Stark has prepared for you… .. then you grab the mask (nicely done, I must say) and you quickly don it… … and here you are … now I am a true superhero with superpowers! The “game” is played with 2 Move controllers, so if you have them you can pretend to have web shooters and start grabbing and/or destroying things… The https://blog.amigaguru.com/?p=19277&utm_source=tumblr&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost
