Btw I fucking hate that queer media is so oversaturated with tragedy and misery that people feel comfortable saying that queer joy is “unrealistic” as if that isn’t overtly homophobic. Never mind the fact that the “unrealistic” story in question has multiple portrayals of homophobia and the mental health issues that come from a childhood of being bullied for your sexuality. But no, experiencing happiness even once is too much for queer people to ask for. Having a happy ending and the boy you love loving you back has never happened for a queer person once ever. And you’re an ally—ok.

Mike getting Vecnaed would hinder his arc rather than aid it.

Mike is always forced to feel. In s1 and s3, Lucas held Mike's hand through his perceived feelings for El and unintentionally pressured him to pursue her. Will did the same thing in s4. Whether it be societal pressure or the fate of El's life, Mike only confesses when he feels like he has to. This plays into the forced conformity theme.

If Mike were to get Vecnaed, it would just be another force pushed upon him. Vecna would encourage Mike to hide his feelings more. Even if Mike accepts his queerness because Vecna shoved it in his face, unable to run from it, it wouldn't be real acceptance. An opposing force is still force. He needs to look within himself of his own volition.

For example, Max only opened up because she felt like she had to. She used her vulnerability as a lure. Max died because she used her emotions to put herself in harm's way rather than as a saving grace. Mike revealing his feelings under pressure would result in negative consequences, not positive ones. Of course emotional arcs are not linear and require setbacks, but we've had enough of Mike pretending. He needs to start moving forward.

Queerness is the opposite of force. It's freeing. Mike needs to confront his queerness and his feelings for Will because he wants to, not because he's pressured to.

I also think the byler goggles need to come off. Yes Mike accepting himself is important, but it's not big enough to revolve a supernatural plot around. The person you're looking for to fulfill the supernatural queer guilt plot is Will. Will's emotional arc, including his queerness, has always been connected to the supernatural plot. Plus Vecna probably won't target his victims the same way he did in s4. It will be different. These differences will coincide with Will's inevitable confrontation with Vecna, tying up his emotional AND supernatural plots.

has anybody written a sonadow fanfic that takes place in a sonic.exe universe where shadow is one of the souls kept alive by .exe, not just to torment him eternally but because he's feeling & somewhat unknowingly leeching off actual sonic's feelings for shadow. shadow reciprocates but not for .exe so every interaction is silently emotionally charged and shadow is miserable and sick with longing and dread because he never got to tell sonic and now look at what's come of it. .exe can try all he wants to form a bond with shadow, it's not his sonic, it never will be his sonic. or is that something i could potentially cook with
