Everyone: Odysseus cares for no one but himself, Penelope and Telemachus. Anyone else doesn't matter to him or matters very little
Actual Odysseus: Treats his subjects like a father. He was allowing other noble kids close to him (Eurymachus was eating on his knees at his table), gave mercy to Antinous's father even if he straight out betrayed him to the Taphian pirates, always fought to the front line at war and didn't let anyone from his people get hurt on his expense, he stopped a riot to the army and defended Agamemnon against the slander of Thersites, saved Diomedes at risk of his own life by giving him his chariot to escape, he cleansed people from sins himself even if there was a priest available, he felt pity about Ajax's condition and he was the one to insist give him a funeral, he handed Neoptolemus his father's armor as a heirloom even if he could have kept it, he defended his men against all odds with every way possible including but not limited to selling himself to a goddess that had them hostage and arming himself to fight Skylla, he gently refuses Nausicaa being respectful of her, he honors his hosts, he tries to test the suitors and makes sure that they truly are beyond saving, he tries to warn Amphinomus so that he will not perish unsuccessfully, he embraces his slaves like equals and treats them like proper friends, he openly defends people like Menelaus or Agamemnon, he respects Diomedes and doesn't look down upon him, he respects his opponents...
Me: ... Yeah that’s an amoral sociopath alright...he doesn't care for anyone...

I like that you're a supporter of Ares, like me, and like me, you understand that to be a god of war and hold the throne of the twelve gods of Olympus, you need to have a lot of intelligence and even genius in reserve.
But it hurts so much that I don't like your drawing style.it's kind of sloppy, a mix of several styles, which in the end doesn't look organic.
What should I do, you're cool, I respect the fact of your efforts, but I don't take the work itself to heart.ಥ_ಥ
Tumblr media
talk about whiplash. My art has been called many things, but sloppy and a mix of several styles is a new one. I've no advise to you, I'm rather pleased and proud of my art in all its forms

If there is one thing I am, it is Proud of my art and it's growth and development. If for some reason you find it to be sloppy or just a mix of styles, well, that ones on you. I can lead someone to water, but i cannot force them to drink. I do hope you have a good day though.

Obsessed with John's commentary, it's so funny. Actual snitch. It's important to note none of the other gospels mention who cut the guy's ear off, and none mention Judas' thieving either

Shoutout to Michael Cacoyannis again and Θεόδωρος Δημήτριεφ (Theodoros Dimitrief) as Agamemnon for Electra (1962) 😍😍
Tumblr media
I mean look at the amazing lion king almost literally! 😍 also shoutout how this movie has a more Mycenean perspective to the armor as well!
Tumblr media
Also the way he interracts with his children! Honestly I am gonna cry!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the way he hands his sword to Orestes to play with and immediately goes to hug Electra! And then the look he gives to his wife! He doesn't speak a single word and yet the look he gives her says it all!
Tumblr media
The way he appears just in a few scenes without speaking a single word simply says it all! And the cinematography of the dude is unparalleled! Because we have Agamemnon's shield left on the ground outside the palace and Orestes playing with it by hitting it at a rhythm of a heartbeat! With his FATHER'S SWORD!
Tumblr media
And in the bath scene we see first the helmet and then the breast plate being placed down on the ground:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AGAMEMNON IS LITERALLY LETTING HIS GUARD DOWN!!!
And that murder scene with the net! GOSH! Pure brutality and amazing cinematography!
Michael when I catch you!!!

Modern Media Agamemnon: The only absolute asshole in the team. Chilling in his tent wearing flamboyant clothing. Barely fighting and when he does he always has someone do the fight for him. Always speaking about women and sex not respecting anything and anyone. Being the greedy embarrassment of his team. Gladly would offer his own mother if that would mean his victory. Always compared to the worst type of scoundrels. One-sided persona.
Actual Ancient Agamemnon: Strong powerful leader who wears his armor and always fights to the front line of battle encouraging (or daresay provoking) others do the same. Respected by his peers and always managing to turn the public to hear him. Performs many mistakes due to abuse of power but always tries to rectify them. He would do anything for his family. He respects his enemies. Speaks a lot about his concubines but ironically he shows respect for some of them (he defends Cassandra's heritage to his wife). Always compared to the gods. Complicated persona.

Lmao I finished the watching the first episode of the House of David
Jonathan is a cutie, but woahh Ishbaal.. 💀 gahhh, he’s fine what. I lowkey like him lol. He’s similar to how I imagine Ishbaal
Not Jonathan’s dead wife tho… 😭
Also, Abner’s hair is so fine to me for some reason.
Also why they gotta do Agag like that, he’s freakyy, I honestly couldn’t stop cracking up whenever he appeared. They tried too hard to make him so grotesque to the point it’s comical. Bro began chanting spells and freaking tf out of Michal
Better see some good Saul torment next episode lol, that weird montage at the end with like Saul dissociating and freaking out after Samuel leaves kinda took me out a little lmao
But yayyy, I finally watched one episode

Odysseus’s ship
Tumblr media
(Courtesy of the page people.hsc.edu)
Lo and behold the Penteconter a ship that has 50 oarsmen which most likely is a strong candidate on the ships used by the Greeks at the bronze age. (Known from other writings like Argonauts as well)
This type of boat has 50 oars (25 at every side) and a single mast and a sail. The sail was playing auxiliary purpose (the oars were still needed). So the ship was including 50 oarsmen, one navigator and a captain (roughly 53 people per shift) perhaps we can expect a few more people per ship if there is a change of a shift. We also do not count slaves and livestock.
So we expect that Odysseus started the trip from Ithaca to Troy with a crew somewhere between 625-725 people and counting the bare minimum losses at the trip more or less we get to have the people that oar back home. You can imagine also how tired his men were at the final parts of the journey when we expect the oarsmen were not sufficient even to row the boat (if they were less than 50) and they could not change the shifts
Honestly I understand why they wanted to stop at the island of Helios despite the fact Odysseus told them not to.
