I know this is my deck... I haven’t touched it in months and it still gave me advice.

Hello!!! So I'm new to tarot reading, but I absolutely love it. So far I've mainly just been trying to bond with my deck but I just have a slight problem, I have adhd and for the life of me I can't seem to keep a consistent pattern. Sometimes I'll go weeks without really bonding with my deck, and I always feel guilty because I really love tarot reading, and I was just wondering if you have advice? Also any other tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated, thank you ❤️❤️❤️ ~🦢
So among tarot readers there are two main camps: cards as a tool and cards as partners.
Im a bit in the middle but I do believe decks have personalities/energies and each deck is unique even if its the same make. I too struggle with consistency so what I did was formed a relationship with my main deck. I got to know her and just keep her in my purse at all times. Sometimes I just shuffle the cards while watching TV or when Im bored to stay familiar.
You’re less likely to ignore an old friend than you would a box of expensive rectangles. And when you do take a break from your cards, it will be easier to reconnect later.
In the end, its always okay to be inconsistent in your magickal practices. Maintaining a meditation routine is really the only thing I advocate for discipline in doing all the time.
Here’s a spread I found online that I would recommend for getting to know or reconnecting with your deck.
~ ☀

How to find your God(s)/Goddess(es)
Have patience. Lots of it. This can be helpful in understanding better and can also be the same method as finding your spirit animal/familiar/spirit guide.
Sometimes, you can choose your own deity(ies). Sometimes, they choose you.
They may stay with you for a short period of time. They may stay with you for life. Some of them will only help with certain situations or until you get the message. They make themselves known to you when both of you are ready.
As one of my other witchy friends @cyrnarosorcery suggested to me, you can try an “Open Invitation” ritual where you light candles and meditate and see who approaches you. A guideline to help:
“I meditate, at this moment, to reach out to my potential deity(ies). Please step forth and show me who you are. I am very much interested in meeting you. Thank you.”
Be extremely patient and look out for any signs. The deity(ies) may not physically reveal themselves to you but they may give signs leading to them. What do you see? What do you feel? Hear? Any abnormal sensations/thoughts? Outside of meditation, is there anything unusual? Keep a look out for anything. It may take days, weeks, months, years but always look out for something. Never give up. Always have patience. They reach out to us, individually, in different ways.
When you do find them, thank them for being there with and for you. Find out more about them. Research. Ask them questions. How are they going to help you with your life? What do they expect from you in return? How do you go about worshiping them? How are you able to receive additional messages from them? Any questions you have for them, ask.
To each of us, we have our own deity(ies) that approach us in different ways and give us different messages. None of us ever have the same exact experiences/encounters even if we share the same deity(ies).

Connecting With Tarot Cards
I got a new deck of tarot cards so recently so I’ve been working on building a personal connection with them. I personally think it’s super important to connect with them. The better connection you have with your cards the more accurate your spreads will be.
Here are some ways I personally like to connect with my tarot cards:
☾Taking them everywhere with me, I put my tarot cards in my purse. This once again helps build that connection with them being on you constantly.
☾I also think adding your tarot cards to your meditation sessions also help a ton!
☾Interviewing my tarot cards through different spreads. The image down below is one of my favorite spreads for this.

☾Let your cards get to know you as well. I do this by doing an assortment of different spreads. This allows the cards to get used to you and vise versa.
☾When I’m home I set my cards on my altar, I don’t think this is necessary but I personally like to do it.

If you just get a deck of cards don’t get upset or discouraged if your spreads aren’t accurate, it normally takes some time for your cards to get used to you, and vise versa. So keep working on building that connection with your tarot cards!
Blessed Be 🌒🌕🌘
