As for the fic

Lullabies by Fireflies

Summary: It’s been nearly 150 years, and still, the ache hadn’t faded.

In a cavern only lit by fireflies Thorin finally speaks of grief he buried about losing his amad.

Hopefully he can learn that even grief this old deserves to be felt, deserves to be recognised at that here in his hobbit's arms he is safe to feel it all as deeply as he does.

And as always an excerpt:

Thorin hadn’t meant to get lost in his own head, not on this day of days. This celebration of all they had accomplished. But, well ... There were so many empty spaces here. These spaces should have been filled with all those he had loved and lost. All those who should have been by his side now. Those who should have watched Dis get married. Watched Fili and Kili grow. Watched them reclaim what was theirs and watched him marry the hobbit beside him.  Thorin wasn’t always this lost in his memories. Most days were good days. Days where he was more than able to be proud of himself and what they had accomplished. Happy with the life he had scraped together by the skin of his forge-calloused fingertips, and then there were days like today.  Days where the ghosts would not leave him be. When they rose from Mahal’s halls to torment him, to taunt him for all of his failures towards their family and their people. He had been the heir of Erebor since the moment he had been born. He had been moulded and shaped into what a great king should be, and he had failed at every turn. Even now, when his people celebrated, he was down here in a cave full of fireflies, wishing he could trade it all for one last moment with his amad, the amad Dis didn’t even remember and whose face had lost most of its features for him, too.
