Angelus was sure that the god in question would appreciate the thanks, but he wondered if they were aware of Arikos' survival, too. Surely they were, right? They had known of Angelus, after all. It wasn't something he would worry about now, or that he should worry about now. The blonde smiled  gently up at the Spartan. "I shall tell you the tale some day, Arikos, but for now, it is too fresh, and I would rather not..." His brow furrowed for a moment, struggling to think of the mortal phrase. "Ah! As the humans say, 'I'd rather not jinx it.' ...I think that is the right phrase, anyhow..."
"I find your unkeptness at this moment and your worry over it to be rather endearing, actually," Angelus said quietly, smiling to himself as a sea breeze whipped around them. He frowned a little as Arikos apologized again. "It is alright. One can never really account for the actions of children. They are full of surprises. I just thought the worst..." He shrugged.
"I would like that a lot, Arikos," Angelus answered with a smile. "Oh, you and I will have to watch some television together, and we will have to see what you like. Or maybe not television...maybe a film." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Ah, I am still learning so nothing too advanced.  Other than the encyclopaedias, I've delighted in many childrens' books, and read them aloud to Hektor's youngest."
"Oh, I did tourist things...like the Eiffel Tower..." He smiled.
angelustheancient:
“Ah, it was quite stressful, yes,” he agreed. “As I said, I was thankful that Hektor was near after it was all said and done. I was understandably exhausted, and I do not know how I would have gotten home without him.” He shook his head, remembering how he had slept for their entire journey home. “Oh, I would not call the…procedure new. I actually do not know exactly what was done to me.” He looked a little wary about this topic of conversation, if only because he was wholly unprepared to explain to Arikos the deal he had made. Arikos would possibly be the only person who would understand what he had given up and would also likely be upset about it. “I would perhaps compare it to magic or an act of one of the…gods…” His words were not a lie; Angelus did not lie. He simply was not ready to tell Arikos everything yet.
“You already made quite the first impression those months ago on our initial meeting, Arikos, and I was blind then,” Angelus said with a smile, leading him to sit with him on the balcony so they could look out at the water together. “It has felt like a lifetime to me as well. I was very worried about you when you did not come back, and then I was angry…and then I was upset. My decision to travel was mainly to distract me, with Hektor and his family’s encouragement. I travelled mostly to places I had already been to centuries ago: Athens, Paris…London. Places I was vaguely familiar with already. I wanted to save new places for…later.”
“Yes, I could read. Though the language has changed a bit since then.” He laughed, looking out to the water. “Oh, I am quite good at reading in English now. It turns out I can pick it up rather quickly! Then again, I have more hours in my day than other Immortals.” He turned his gaze back to Arikos. “I focused on reading quite diligently at first. Hektor’s children were surprisingly helpful. You would be surprised how quickly you can learn something just by following along with the….captions? I think that’s the word…anyway, they are words that appear on the screen when you watch television. I am now just finishing working my way through a set of illustrated encyclopedias! It seemed a low-stress way of learning about the world before I truly began to travel.”
“I look forward to whatever and wherever you have to show me.” He smiled.
Arikos watched him carefully, wondering what it was that Angelus wasn’t telling him. he could tell that there was something more, though he didn’t want to pry too much. He offered a small smile. “Well, I’m glad you came through it unscathed,” he stated easily. He moved more towards the other male, wanting to get a good look at his eyes now. “Well, whatever magic or act of the gods it was… I am happy for it. I only wish I knew which, I would thank the god for his or her blessing.” He smiled again at the other male.
“Yes, but that was my charming personality, this was for my rugged good looks. And now you’ve got your first impression all distorted by travel-Arikos rather than by rugged-handsome Arikos who is nicely dressed,” Arikos objected, though he still smiled at him. He walked with him to the balcony and sat down, looking out over the scenery. “I am terribly sorry. I thought leaving the note would be enough. I didn’t even factor in the carelessness of children. That is something I will have to work on.” He winced at the thought that he’d made Angelus worry, or upset him.
“Well, we should travel together sometime. We can both explore a little of our past that we missed out on not seeing…” he said easily. He nodded about the other’s observation on the language. “That it has. And that is a really good idea. not something that I would have thought of. Though I do not watch much… television. I did not realize you could put the words on the screen until I saw it once in a bar.” He smiled a bit at the thought of Angelus reading encyclopedias. “What other things have you been reading? Tell me everything. What all have you seen in Athens, London, and Paris? Did you go up into the eiffel tower?”

Surprising Return
Arikos tried to tell himself that it had only been a few weeks, but still, for some reason he’d grown far too attached to the other Greek immortal and his little mortal family, and he was eager to return. He walked up to the front of the house where Angelus and his family lived, a bag slung over his shoulder and raised his  hand to knock. Finding out that he could travel in the daylight had helped immensely in his travels. Not having to hunker down for fear of being burned was a blessing that he had never even dared to hope for.
He turned his back to the door while he waited for someone to answer, taking in the scent of the air. It was morning, after dawn, but the sun had only been up for maybe an hours. Perhaps they were still asleep inside. He could hear their heartbeats. The children, the adults, one powerful immortal. He closed his eyes, inhaling again and smiling at the sound of footsteps approaching the door and turned to face the door as it opened up.

The Coven Laws
The five main rules to which the Children of Darkness adhered during the reign of Santino, taken from Anne Rice’s novel The Vampire Armand.
Each coven must have its leader and only he might order the working of the blood magic on a mortal, seeing that the methods and rituals were properly observed.
This old curse must never be bestowed upon the crippled, the maimed, or children, or upon those who cannot, even with these dark powers, survive on their own. Be it further understood that all mortals who would receive this curse should be beautiful in person so that the insult to God might be greater when the magic is done.
Never should an old vampire work this magic lest the blood of the fledgling be too strong. For all our gifts increase naturally with age, and the old ones have too much strength to pass on. Injury, burning –these catastrophes, if they do not destroy the Child of Satan, will only increase his powers when he is healed. Yet Satan guards the flock from the powers of the old ones for almost all go mad.
No vampire may ever destroy another vampire, except that the coven master has the power of life and death over all his flock. And it is, further, his obligation to lead the old ones and the mad ones into the fire when they can no longer serve Satan as they should. It is his obligation to destroy all vampires who were not properly made. It is his obligation to destroy those that are so badly wounded that they cannot survive on their own. And it is his obligation finally to seek the destruction of all outcasts and all who have broken the laws.
No vampire shall ever reveal his true nature to a mortal and allow that mortal to live. No vampire must ever reveal the history of vampires to a mortal and allow that mortal to live. No vampire must ever commit to writing the history of the vampires or any true knowledge of vampires lest such a history be found by mortals and believed. And a vampire’s name must never be known to mortals, save from his tombstone, and never must a vampire reveal to mortals the location of his or any other vampire’s lair.

the magicians (season 1) sentence starters.
It’s always something with you, isn’t it? It’s always an emergency.
You can’t run away hard enough, can you?
Thank God that you’re confused too.
Are you guys trying to take over the world or—?
It’s good to be aware the world is inherently unfair. Act accordingly.
If I knew, would I need high and mighty mega-genius you back here?
Maybe I wouldn’t let myself forget.
You feel right because you’re starting toward your destiny.
I really don’t want to be the guy who dies in the first ten minutes of the movie because he’s like, “You know what? Let’s take out the Ouija board. What could possibly go wrong?”
So what is this place exactly, besides a health hazard?
Magic doesn’t come from talent. It comes from pain.
Look, if you can’t get through this, you definitely can’t deal with what it takes to do what we do.
You should hate me right now. I dragged you into this.
So let’s just hide the evidence and get our story straight.
You’re a much better liar than I expected you to be.
It will consume you. Change you into something else.
You know, as a psychic, you’d think you’d have seen all this coming.
Why do I feel like I’m talking to myself?
Loath as I am to admit it, I don’t actually know anything.
Magic wasn’t just handed to me.
Ain’t you a bucket of empathy.
I’m not patronizing you. I’m telling you that this is not a good idea.
It’s amazing I survived as long as I did not knowing that I was a magician. I can’t go back.
Okay, this is obviously a dream where I realize I’m in a dream.
Let’s just skip the part where you don’t believe me, okay?
One thing that’s real: you’re always a raging dick.
Magic does not solve problems. It magnifies them.
I’m going to kill her. —I’m fucking with you.
I know you feel that you’ve had to leave, but I’d really like you to come back.
This isn’t Middle Earth. There aren’t enough noble quests to go around.
It’s supposed to be a surprise, but I like ruining things.
I’m not trying to pick a fight with you. I’m just trying to fix what I broke.
What is the point of any of this, of magic, if we can’t fix real problems?
I just file that under, “Wish there was jack shit I could do about it.”
Oh, if you want to insult me, try again.
You know, the amazing thing is you actually believe that this plan could work.
Google it. Totally hilarious.
Blood’s not going to come out of that sweater. You should just throw it out.
You are free. More free than almost anyone in this universe or any other.
Where’s the joy? The fun? Why are you determined to be so fucking bland?
You deserve better than their punishment, which would be extreme.
I’m going to go take a nap and pretend that this entire conversation never happened.
Hell is real and it smells like Axe Body Spray.
I’ve never really seen you care about something.
Things aren’t usually worth caring about. With some limited, but very important exceptions.
I guess I’m just waiting for the part in all of this where I start to bore you.
I don’t understand why we fell apart after being friends forever.
I need to punch you in the throat if you tell me what I need to do.
You can’t possibly want to be a dick more than you want to live.
Stop! I’m literally becoming less cool with every word you speak.
Hey, would you break up with me if I told you that I’ve never been happier in my entire life?
This house is haunted as balls, is what that is.
The world never did help a smart girl.
If the world goes after you, take it as a compliment.
What if there really is a hell and this takes me there?
Life ain’t fair. Why in the high, holy fuck should death be any different?
Thinking that you can change anything– it’s such an act of monumental ego. I mean, who the fuck do you think you really are?
Well, we’ve never been this desperate before.
I can’t believe I gave up tickets to Hamilton for this.
I know that this is embarrassing, but trust me, dying is worse.
He might be about forgiveness, but I’m sure as shit not.
Don’t take this the wrong way, but shut the fuck up, okay?
I think something might really be broken.
Let’s not kick our only semi-functional idea out of bed.
Well, I hate to say I told you so, but—you know what? Actually, I don’t. I don’t hate that.
But that stuff’s illegal. —I’m fucking with you. I’m in.
Scale of one to ten, how are you with a broadsword?
When someone cares enough to reach out a hand, just drop the bullshit attitude and take what they’re offering while you can.
Shall we go fuck some shit up?
Well, I’m not going anywhere. I mean, this is my house.
There’s this thing about you. You actually believe in magic.
I should have believed you. I should have known.
It was shitty going for a while there, but I can’t sit here now and think it was anything but fate.
Of all the people in the world who don’t understand, somehow you top the list.
Come with me if you want to live. I’ve always wanted to say that.
But you are from a place that likes murder: Earth.
I think you’re the only person that I can stand.
I gather the crowd you usually hang with nods like you’re smart when you say incredibly obvious shit, but what we need is ideas.
On one hand, fuck ‘em, on the other hand, you can’t really blame ‘em.
I didn’t know who else to call.
What the fuck were we thinking?
Well, impossible shit is sort of our thing.

“It did work, yes. It could have been very bad if things had gone poorly, but thankfully it did not.” Nevermind what he had to give up in order to see again. Deals with gods were not made lightly. Arikos did not need to know what it had cost him. Not right now. “When it happened, it was actually quite painful at first and then everything went white and...” He let out a little laugh, like one did when they were anxious. “I thought it had not worked for a moment, and then slowly things started to come into view. I was very disoriented and confused afterward. Thankfully, Hektor was there.” He reached out, placing a hand on his arm.
“Do not apologize. You do not have to look your best for me,” he said a wide grin forming on his lips. It looked a little strange, like he was still learning to smile correctly. He had, in fact, been practicing such a thing. His smile had always been a little odd. “Besides, I think you look just fine the way you are, but if you are concerned about the state of yourself, do you need fresh clothes? Or to simply wash up?” He leaned into the hand that now rested on his cheek.
“Thank you,” he said quietly, blushing a bit. “I am happy. I have done some traveling...I am working on learning to read in a few languages...the children have introduced me to a few films. My list of things I wish to do is quite exhaustive now.”
Surprising Return
Arikos tried to tell himself that it had only been a few weeks, but still, for some reason he’d grown far too attached to the other Greek immortal and his little mortal family, and he was eager to return. Angelus didn’t turn around immediately when Arikos began to speak. Instead he merely listenee, staring out at the sea until the other immortal was finished speaking. When he was done, Angelus let out a breath, closing his eyes for a beat before turning around and taking a moment to take in Arikos’ appearance. This would be Angelus’ first time seeing him after going through the ordeal it took for him to regain his sight. Molten amber eyes scanned his form, committing it to memory. After a short time, his eyes snapped to his face, noting the small frown and the furrow of his brow.
It suddenly occurred to Angelus how Arikos had approached him, knocking on the doorframe and announcing himself, like Angelus was still blind. The Greek blinked, smiling gently before meeting Arikos’ eyes.
“I was correct to assume you had been pulled away to right some injustice...” He paused. “But imagine my disappointment when I came back and you were not the first person I saw when we opened the door. Unless...you have forgotten whey Hektor and I went away in the first place?” Another small smile.
“You need not apologize for Cassandra’s mistake. It was an accident, and I imagine she is feeling poorly enough for the both of you. I would have, however, liked to have heard from you when you were gone...at least that you were alright,” Angelus looked both worried and disappointed for a moment, brow furrowing.
“It is so good to see you.” He broke into a smile.
Surprising Return

Dear People I have Threads with;
Just because I start another thread with someone playing the same character as you, doesn’t mean that I hate you, I’m getting annoyed by you, or I’m bored with you; I’m most likely in a different scene, and nothing I send you both will be the same.
Just because I take a while to reply to you, but not others, doesn’t mean I’m ignoring you; My muse is picky, and I can only write what I’m drawn to. I want my replies to be well written and fun, not forced and horrible
Just because I shorten a reply doesn’t mean I’m bored with the thread; I’m probably tired, thinking of something else to continue with, or giving you the chance to set up our next situation.
Just because I drop a thread doesn’t mean I will never come back to start another; When I drop threads, I’m usually overwhelmed, without a muse for that particular piece, or bored with it, and I’ll ask to start another.
Don’t assume because I’m picky/tired/museless, I’m not happy with you.

“No, no. Angelus would never forgive me if I turned you away.” Hektor knew that it would be better in the long run for Angelus to see Arikos again, despite Hektor’s own misgivings.
He opened his mouth to begin to explain how Angelus had received the mail himself each day, looking through it even though he had still been learning to read at that point. He had even waited by the phone with the hopes that Arikos might call, only to remember that he couldn’t recall ever giving the man the phone number for the house, or if Arikos even had the means of making such a phone call. But, his own words died on his lips when Arikos mentioned leaving a note.
“No, we didn’t see a note when we had returned from our journey. If you recall my telling you about it before we left, the only people who would enter here while we were gone were my children, who had been given the chore of keeping the place dust and dirt free in our absence, and they—“ Hektor was interrupted by a young girl—his daughter—shooting out from the living area just off to the left of the entry way and wrapped her arm’s about Hektor’s legs. He looked down at her, eyes narrowing slightly as he wondered how long she had been in there and how much she had heard. His silent question was answered as she proceeded to look rather guilty and attempted to hide her face from him.
Hektor let out a breath through his nose, giving Arikos an apologetic look. He proceeded to extricate himself from her grasp and crouched down to her level. “Cassandra,” he said quietly, the girl’s face turning red with a blush as he father used her full name. “This here is Arikos. You remember me telling you about Arikos, hm?” She nodded. “You may not have seen him when you came to do your chores with older brother. Did you happen to see a note from him in the kitchen when you did that? He had left it for Angelus.”
“I d-don’t remember,” she mumbled, looking upset. “We dusted the living room and the l-library and then took a break and made us a snack in the kitchen...and when we cleaned up after eating we threw a b-bunch of things away...” She looked devastated at the possibility that she or her brother might have thrown away. “Is...is that why Uncle Angelus got sad again? Why he took that trip? Was he mad at us that we threw away that note? Was it important?” She glanced over at Arikos with big, sad eyes. “I’m...I’m s-sorry.”
“It is alright, Cassie,” Hektor whispered, smiling. “It was just an accident. No one is mad at you or your brother, I promise. Now, I have to talk to Arikos, so go on back to your room and pack up your clothes. And do so quietly. Remember that Angelus is still sleeping.” The girl nodded scampered off down the hallway and disappearing around a corner.
“Well...now we know where the note went,” Hektor sounded apologetic. “We assumed you had been called away. That much was apparent to the us, but we thought we might hear from you after a period of time had passed...When we didn’t, Angelus started to make certain assumptions became understandably upset. Some of that was directed at you, but if I am being honest, most of it was at himself.” Hektor sighed a little, shaking his head, and lead Arikos a little down the hall and up the set of stairs that would lead to Angelus. “Angelus struggles with technology, I should have known that with you being like him, you might too...to a certain extent. I apologize, I suppose I became used to his friends not needing anything...”
“Angelus does not hold onto his anger for long. It is simply not his way.” He explained quietly as they walked toward some double doors. “He does, however hold onto his sorrow and bottles it up. He keeps the despair of several lifetimes in his heart. With the help of his friends and well, your sudden appearance into his life, he was starting to get better about letting go of his woes, but he is still very much prone to bouts of despondency.” He paused here, looking at Arikos before looking back ti the door. “As I told you on our sailboat those months ago, Angelus has the heart and hopes of a young man. I’ll go in and wake him now, and explain about the note. Give me a few minutes.”
Hektor disappeared into the other room, quietly closing the door behind him. He didn’t emerge until several minutes later, giving Arikos a small smile. “He‘s on the balcony. Make a right as soon as you enter the room.” And then with a wave, Hektor departed back down the hall.
Surprising Return
Arikos tried to tell himself that it had only been a few weeks, but still, for some reason he’d grown far too attached to the other Greek immortal and his little mortal family, and he was eager to return.
