i don't think they put him in drag tbh i think he did it himself. like pre-res i think a— maybe had some of what he called latent homosexuality but scoffed at the idea of ever doing drag and then like half a myriad post-res when everyone was likely getting a bit freaky with it he unintentionally reinvented the concept of a drag queen and developed a little persona & then for like seven decades in a row john would have him dress up as augusta cuntsway & sing happy birthday mr president like that scene in breaking bad. then he stopped doing it for the next few centuries after john got too touchy one time and it got weird. and like i think maybe 600ish years pre gtn he and mercy definitely fucked while he was in drag to spice things up, and she was KIND Of INTO IT but he was still feeling a bit awkward about it & so they did it once and never brought it up again. now see the vital part of this is that i absolutely think he had to have used the clothes of the departed lyctors & cavaliers for this, because they're all ostensibly still in their wardrobes as per what we see in htn with ianthe and harrow's rooms, which to me means that at some point i think augustine-as-augusta-cuntsway ABSOLUTELY wore cristabel's clothes. you know what i mean?
