I really like different Owl House art, in which the characters are made dark-skinned. I think it's quite interesting and original. I decided to fantasize what would happen if I did the opposite. Ladies and gentlemen - Luz Noseda, but with an ideal Aryan appearance. As they say, Heil Hitler (a joke if anything)

"200 pages of Jantom" part 2
Well, after the first half you didn't kill me, actually here's the second one for you
Remember, I gave the author a social loan at the end of the last part? I was in a hurry. Because further along the plot is the same 12 series. And you've probably already guessed what I'll say about her - yes, she's taken out of the context of the comic. In the comic, we see Janna and Tom in a pretty good relationship - they don't mind spending time together, they had a lot of moments that brought them closer, for Janna, Tom is really dear, because he caused changes in her during which she overcame her selfishness in the form of reflection. And in the series, Janna, on the contrary, behaves like an egoist mixed with a rowdy and tries to change for the worse the one she loves dearly (but still uses). And Tom, as you remember, was reluctant to communicate with Janna at that time. Of course, I understand that he with Star, but Janna hardly means little to him, after everything that happened between them, he had to show her at least a drop of interest. And so the level of the relationship of the characters in the series is the level of the second chapter of the comic, and even the story is similar - involuntary interaction, actions purely in the interests of each individually and the realization that life comes first. So Mark once again flew by comparing his comic with the canon
Okay, what's next for us? Tom's journey. In fact, a very important part for me, because when in episode 17 Tom reported that after the trip he decided to part with Star, I asked myself "What kind of trip is this after which he decided to do it, what was there". Let's see what Sir Moringmark tells us
And his version is this - after a quarrel with Star, Tom decides to take Janna with him. In fact, this is logical - as I said, she is also dear to Tom, and why not go with her, since Star does not want to. It's more fun together! And Janna doesn't mind. She doesn't even mind looking at the kingdom of Hades and, once there, she immediately goes for...
Stand, THE KINGDOM OF HADES?!?!??
I'm sorry, but why? Remember the frame that I asked you to remember in the first part. Yes, where was the joke about Dante. So, it doesn't seem to bother you that in the same universe there is both a Christian hell and the world of the god of pagan Greece? It confuses me, it's strange that Moringmark Helheim didn't add for more beauty.
Well, fuck with him, Jenna goes shopping, buys a bunch of stuff there, including all sorts of potions and accidentally spills a truth potion on her head. Tom decides to take advantage of this and asks Janna all sorts of tricky questions, among which there is such a:
Tumblr media
Aaaaaaaaa! So that's it, comrades, it turns out that she wanted to write off her homework all this time. And I, the fool, think why is she just climbing up to him from the whole class, he's the only one doing homework. And she praised his fragrance before her date with Jackie, hoping that he would let her write off her homework. And when she spoke about the call in case of divorce, she meant the divorce of chemical elements. And when Marko wrote in the "guide to dimensions" that Janna was flirting with him, he made a typo and wanted to write "He wants to write off my homework"
So, that's it, I raise a huge sign with the inscription "Sarcasm" because my limit of sitting with a serious face is simply exhausted. Well, in short, you understood, either this potion was Chinese, or the potion "I say what the plot needs"
Well, the last question from Tom is who he is for Janna - a friend or a tool to use. Janna almost confesses, but stops herself in time. Then there is a scene with a necklace - local hooligans steal it from a backpack, Janna chases them, almost dies, but Tom still saves her again and tells her not to risk her life for such a moronic thing. And then it turns out that it turns out that this necklace (ah, I didn't say some that he was looking at before telling Star about the breakup) Janna bought him, thinking that he would like it. That is, she took care of him. Again, she almost confesses, Tom gets tired of this concealment of information about Janna's attitude to him and he leaves. Janna is also not thrilled that her relationship with Tom has reached such a misunderstanding and still finds the strength to tell everything about her feelings. She also says that she didn't talk about it before because she didn't want to interfere with him with the Star, kept her feelings to herself and couldn't forget about them (the base is sitting on the base and driving the base). Well, the fact that I'm glad that I told everything, because it would still torment Janna for a lot of time and would eventually become a problem. So why wait when it will be like this - it's better to tell everything at once (a wise thought, respect for it). Well, Tom is already traveling alone, because now it's awkward to do it together.
And according to the canon, after returning from it, he breaks up with Star...
Listen, guys, I may not really understand something in this life, but let's imagine such a situation. You're a guy. The most ordinary, but at the same time with strong emotional problems. You have a girlfriend with whom you once broke up because of these very problems and because of this decided that it would be necessary to start fighting them. With great difficulty, you cope with this and find that girl again. And your relationship with her is basically good - she loves you, you love her too, of course you quarrel sometimes, but where without it? And you have a friend. You also seem to treat her normally, but worse than a girlfriend - you think she is strange, you spend time with her only when the girl is busy. And for good reason - it has a bad effect on you, forcing you to return to the old problems with anger. And now she declares that she loves you. What will you do? Think? Right. Reconsider your attitude towards her? I don't rule it out. But I somehow doubt very much that you will break up with a girlfriend with whom you have a great relationship for the sake of this friend with whom the relationship will be obviously shitty. That's the same with Tom. Why the fuck did he break up with Star for Janna. I repeat once again - if someone loves you, then you don't have to love him too and meet only with him. You are you, he is he, you have just different paths
Yes, someone will say that Tom broke up with Star not for the sake of a relationship with Janna, but because she just said that it's better not to wait until something explodes and immediately speak out. So, smart guy. First of all, show me something in Tom and Star's relationship that could explode. Does one of them dislike someone else? No, both love each other and love each other very much. Maybe someone has previously expressed the idea that they are too different? Not either. Then what are you going to blow up in their relationship? No, episode 15 doesn't count. It was the only breakdown in two seasons, before that Tom had never been upset by Star's fault. And the point there was not in the relationship itself, but in the fact that Star was confused and could not decide on her path and perhaps even in a forced Starco. So no, there could not have been any explosions in the Startom.
Secondly, even if they were, we will fast forward to the next chapter where our company is going to Mewni and Tom and Janna are talking in the back seat. Tom declares that he did not reject her then in the kingdom of Hades. Janna naturally understood what he was driving at, you also understood it, well, I also immediately realized that Tom was offering Janna a relationship. Oh, my God, really? Let me remind you that only a day has passed since he broke up with Star - and he is already spinning a new relationship. Of course I'm not an expert in love, but I have a lot of friends who broke up. And you know, they spent months retreating after all this, it was morally difficult for them to meet someone else, it's like cheating on a lover. And then, as if it wasn't hard for Tom to part with Star, since he was so quickly ripe for a new relationship. Janna is of course a smart girl and also understands this. And you know what Tom says
Tumblr media
Fuck, this comic is going to drive me into a coffin soon. What does unicorns have to do with it, you stupid head? How are they related to your relationship? In my opinion, even where unicorns live, there are laws of logic in relationships. Therefore, please do not confuse the madness that is associated with the ent of your world and the madness that is associated with the dementia of the comic author, who sleeps and sees how to set you up with Janna, not caring how you treat Star. Seriously, this act of Tom is very indifferent to Star - he pursued her, dated for a long time, cherished her, she became almost the closest person to him - and he breaks up with her so easily, as if he didn't love her at all, which, of course, is not true. And for the sake of someone - for the sake of the one to whom his attitude is worse. Before Janna confessed to Tom, he was just friends with her. And this friendship did not even reach the level of Marco - Tom did not appreciate her, considered Janna not cool, but strange, for him she was just an acquaintance with whom you can hang out while there is no Star . That is, there was no very warm relationship between them, and then Tom himself offers Janna a relationship immediately after she confessed to him without even thinking about the situation. Needless to say, it doesn't work that way in life.
So there's a double combo - and a violation of the canon according to which it was still difficult for him to throw the Star, and the most trivial love line. I thought it was impossible to do more crooked than the creators of the series did - but no, Moringmark surpassed them. It took Star and Marco at least some time to understand, and then Janna fell in love with nothing, that Tom didn't give a damn about all his relationships for her. And for some reason, only I notice it, the rest are like normal, right? Nonsense...
Okay, let's move on. The eighth chapter starts with the fact that Star announces advice on what to do with the warriors of Solaria, and Jannа finally remembers about Tom. After a pretty decent amount of time. Well, thank God she remembers at least, and not as Star - "don't worry, he's probably already coming here." That is, the disregard for the fact in the final here has been preserved in full.
We also see a small flashback - Tom gives the necklace to Janna before he goes to the world of magic, because he is afraid of damaging it. This shows that it is still dear to him, and I will not deceive Janna, who gave it to him, is also dear to him.
And Eclipsa decides to take a little poke
Warriors of Solaria... Murders... Destruction... I'm sleeping.
Janna quietly steals her wand and opens eye with it, depending on where Tom is. First of all, I can't help but note that the marks on Janna's cheeks look like a tattoo on Tom's shoulder. Well, it's kind of great. And I also want to express a small complaint about the wand.
Tumblr media
(Are the Olds here?)
Janna returns Tom's memory with the help of a necklace (at the same time, the comic emphasizes that it returned his memory to him, but the appearance of Janna herself does not. So I was wrong, only the necklace is expensive to him) and together they decide to stuff the muzzle of a dark unicorn. But do you remember Janna in the magical dimension put a unicorn under her hat? So, he jumps out from under her and spoils the spell. And then comes the second good scene in terms of drama - the spell is closing, Janna is worried about Tom, he says he can handle it, he didn't get into such scrapes. And Janna, still worried about Tom, returns the wand to Eclipsa...
But as in the case of reflection, this drama was spoiled by the canon. After all, it is logical that after this, Janna had to open the eye again, like if it was spoiled once, it shouldn't open anymore, should it? Or, as a last resort, go to a meeting and raise the issue there that Tom is stuck there in the world of magic, we need to get him out as soon as possible. But Janna doesn't do any of this, because there was nothing like that in the canon and the negligent creators remembered about Tom only at the end of the series. And as a result, it turns out that Janna is not so worried about Tom, although the author clearly wanted her to do it, but he was not given the events of the original source.
So, the last two chapters. The penultimate one happens literally only after the destruction of magic. And how long do you think it can last after destruction? I don't know what you think, but Mark has it for a whole bunch of time for which
1) Tom manages to find Jannа in the big castle
2) They touchingly embrace
3) They sort out ways for Janna to get to Earth and understand that there is no way
4) Janna says that even if she is stuck here, she is glad that she is with him
And the magic disappears and transfers Janna to Earth only when Tom decides to take her by the hand. And for so long, the magic has disappeared. Of course, I understand that there may be some kind of magical vacuum when the magic has not completely disappeared after the destruction, but even if there is one, it lasts for seconds, during which Tom would not even have time to reach the castle. And so it turns out a plot blunder for the sake of a beautiful love scene
Well, the final:
(Sorry for the fact that the video is in Russian, I did not find the English voice acting of this comic. And at the same time, this video is too beautiful not to insert it)
Well, this is our comic. Many will think that I will now say that it is stupid and does not justify his assessments. Well, that's the way it is. Of course, when I started reading it, I didn't count on a fucking love story like Romeo and Juliet, but based on what they write about him, I hoped at least for a love line at least a little better than in the animated series. But in the end I got some crap in which the characters fall in love with each other just like that, for no good reason, literally in a few minutes. The development of the couple also remained behind the scenes and we can only blindly believe that it was due to scenes that appeared from nowhere. As for the plot, the canon is violated in many places - although the events are guessed well, the characters often behave differently, their relationships do not coincide with the canonical ones. Okay, the author would have left the canon in order to develop a couple normally (exactly normally, and not in a couple of minutes), or vice versa - he would have tried to keep in touch with the canon, while sacrificing a couple, I would then have cursed him for one thing, but praised him for another, but there is nothing to praise stupidly, because there is a puncture in both cases. There are no explanations for the inconsistencies. The only thing I found is why the Makie Hand went to hell, and not to heaven, but firstly, who didn't care about it, secondly, it is shown so stupidly that it's not even funny. On the contrary, there are more questions about the ent of the Moringmark world - the same kingdom of Hades or magic that exists after its destruction for too long. So I will neither reread this comic nor recommend it to anyone.
However, I will lie if I say that the comic caused me exclusively negative emotions. There is something to grab onto in it - for example, I really liked the growth of Janna as a heroine, who was initially a non-hero, and in the end was very worried about Tom. Jokes and references are quite good, many scenes from the series are also well integrated, the same separation of Janna or unicorns under the cap, the canon is observed in most cases (however, far from being demonically perfect, as it was written in one of the reviews), there are also strong scenes.
And as for me, the main problem of the comic is exactly what I talked about earlier - the barriers of the canon. For this reason, for example, the power of those scenes with reflection and with a unicorn is reduced to nothing, the relationship of the characters goes beyond its scope, too, only because the canonical ones do not allow the couple to develop properly. Yes, and the curve of love could not be avoided - after all, within the framework of the series, there is definitely no way to develop a Jantom, despite the fact that Janna and Tom were absent from the screens for quite a long time. Let's take Tom - in the first or second season, he loved Star and could hardly have a relationship with someone else, could be friends, but did not want to meet. At the beginning of the third, he began to meet with Star and was not free so often - only if Star was busy, he could start communicating with someone else and talk. And after he threw the Star, there was no time left until the final with bird's nose and then he sat in the world of magic. And Janna, judging by her character, would hardly like to be in a relationship with anyone at all, well, she may have fallen in love with Marco, but this cannot be confirmed (exactly as well as refuted). So Moringmark initially set himself a difficult task and, as expected, failed to cope with it. The comic could be better if it took place after the canon, when there is more space for creativity, but we have something. "Tom vs Jannanigans" is not a good, but also not a terrible comic, it's considered a well-drawn fan fiction - sometimes stupid, sometimes good and deserves its solid three with a minus.
And you know, despite such a low rating, I was waiting for the continuation of this comic. A very good plot has matured in my head - Jannа and Tom looked around the newly-made world, realized what Star and Marco had done and began to fix everything, continuing to develop as a couple in parallel. Agree, it would make a good story and maybe even Moringmark would agree with me, but there is one problem - he does not consider the ending bad. He laughed at the problems of unification purely in one comic and that's it, and so we have only the unfinished "Another World" and "The Tale of Two Butterfly" from the post-final comics, where everything is fine by default. Well, short comics of course, which were firewood in the furnace of toxic Jantom shippers.
The second comic that will be put on trial here is "Explosion from the Past". It was released already at the sunset of Moringmark's work on SVTFOE, is his second completed major comic book and coincidentally, also about Jantom and also has 100 pages in its composition. Since we have such a bunch of coincidences, why not take it apart?
It all starts like a very ordinary comic - Star, Marco, Tom and Janna are playing volleyball on the beach of hell, but then some pale lady appears.
Naturally, I have a question in my head who is this, since you can't just take and introduce a character into the plot and not explain where he is from. They explain to us that this is a vampire named Avila, Tom's ex-girlfriend, whom he briefly met after a quarrel with Star. And then another question is why no one has talked about her before. I understand of course that I don't really want to, but at least in a negative way it could be mentioned. And this applies not only to Avila alone - why haven't we heard about vampires in principle in the universe? That's right, because they have never been there, and Moringmark decided to play popularity in the wake of the release of the TV series "Food Hall". Okay, I'm joking about the series, of course, but the spirit of some other vampire works is felt here - "Twilight" can certainly be remembered, and the author decided to add vampires to his universe probably because why not.
And you know, a little later I even deduced a possible history of Avila and Tom's relationship. After the split with Star, Tom realized that he needed to look for someone who looked like his then - that is, the same evil and selfish girl. And then our vampire caught his eye, they liked each other and it would seem that everything, but Avila (as it will be seen later) dominated the relationship and Tom did not like it, so he began to miss the kind and gentle Star and therefore began an operation to return her, breaking up with Avila
Well, that's my idea. The comic itself raises the question of a relationship with an immortal. Janna asks Dave about this and he tells us about the transfer of souls, actually what we knew from TVSJ. However, Mark decided to complicate everything and added a law that if a mortal lives to a hundred and ceases to receive souls, he quickly dies, but until Janna leaves Tom, it won't work. And like - why was it necessary to introduce this? That's a hell of a lot of questions. If Tom leaves Janna, will it work? Do you need to live up to a hundred "with your own years" or with these souls? If there are souls left after parting, will it be necessary to live them out or immediately death? How will the body understand that it was you who broke up with the immortal and not just quarreled there or made fun on the first of April? And what's there by the Star? Tom probably also gave her souls during their relationship, so Marco will also need to worry about not dying ahead of time. In short, this law was not needed and its only purpose was to develop a drama with dependence on relationships.
Well, then you know - Jannа is trying to catch Avila, while not going to Tom's birthday and starting to doubt whether she should meet Tom at all, the plot twist is that Avila is actually good, then there is a split of Jantom, then there is another sudden disclosure that Avila is actually evil and she set everything up, then an action scene, during which it turns out that it's better not to spoil with Janna, just to stay whole... Well, you understand. Plus, the author cut off each part at the most interesting place, which fueled the intrigue. In general, everything is fine.
It was great until this happened
Tumblr media
Then I thought - what the fuck? Of course, Janna is inclined to do stupid things and loves mysticism, but she is clearly not an idiot and understands that what will happen to her will be what Tom will tell her later and what I was thinking about - from light intolerance (which for some reason Avila does not have, by the way - she is comfortably on the beach, in a well-lit church, in the houses of Marco and Sabrina, under the searchlight of a helicopter. Why is that? She doesn't seem to wear a pioneer tie like vampires in the "Food Hall". Stupid blunders again?) before the thirst for blood, because of which not only she, but the whole city will suffer, it is necessary to drink this blood from someone. And why would she need to be a vampire then? The answer is obvious - for the sake of immortality and life with Tom.
And that's when I realized that everyone has arrived, Hans, bring a flamethrower. Janna in the series is one of the few heroes who kept their sanity and adequacy at a time when almost everyone spoke through the mouth of the screenwriter so that the plot was. And Moringmark just instantly turned her into a complete fool who is ready to do any swinishness for the sake of love. It is clear that Janna would never have done this in the series, since she knows how to weigh the pros and cons and certainly would not put love above everything that was seen from the same comic when she made a choice not in favor of Tom and went to catch a vampire. So almost the last bastion of common sense in this love madhouse Moringmark just took and leaked. But I was hoping that Tom would arrive soon and talk some sense into her.
Tom arrives, but the further into the forest the more firewood. First of all, he suddenly has wings. It's beautiful, of course, but what the hell are they doing to him? After all, he flies perfectly without them, he does not need them from a purely biological point of view, I am silent about the fact that they would not fit inside his body. And even if he had them, why didn't he let them out before? In general, again some nonsense for the sake of a beautiful scene.
So, Tom defeats Avila, throws her out into the street, where the police are waiting for her, to whom she surrenders for some reason. What for? She could easily engage them in battle, run away at the very least-why would she give up? Well, then I hoped that she has a tactic and she adheres to it.
And Tom approaches the dead Jannа and shows another of his horseradish knows where the ability to resurrect people with the help of the transfer of souls came from. And here exactly the same questions - from where and where was it before? I understand the wings, they are not particularly needed, but the resurrection could be applied, for example, when he and Star tried to bring Marco back to life at the end of season 3. And if Tom can do that, what's the problem with Janna's mortality? Tom can, as soon as she died, give her a soul, she will live it, die again, he will give her a soul, she lives it, and so on in a circle. And there will be no oversaturation of souls, because of which the law on a hundred years works.
And in general, to continue the relationship, you don't even need to give a soul - after all, Janna will still go to the underworld to Tom after death.
Tumblr media
Or do you also have problems with how Janna looks, Moringmark? Did you think I wouldn't beat you? That I won't destroy you? I will destroy you!
Oh well... Tom expectedly asks about why Janna took it into her head to become a vampire, she replies that she wanted to be immortal for the sake of their relationship. And Tom at first correctly condemns Janna for such an imbecile decision from which there are more minuses than pluses, but at the last moment something goes wrong and he hugs her, saying that he does not believe that she was ready to do it for him
Tumblr media
Tom, what are you doing? I understand Janna is a crazy madman, but you're kind of an adequate guy and you should understand what the transformation into a vampire entails. He understands and says this to Janna - so what happened next? Why did he suddenly move so abruptly to hugging? Does he even care about the fact that Janna wanted to break her whole life? Or is he rolling back to the egoist who doesn't care about others, as long as he feels good? Someone will object to me that Tom should be grateful to Janna for what she wanted to do for him. Yes, because apparently for all sorts of nonsense now you need to thank and probably still fall at feet. Well, since you want him to be grateful - with your permission, I will change just a few lines in the comic
Tumblr media
THAT'S IT!!! Now Tom is glad that Janna is trying for him, but at the same time he has retained his adequacy. And in order to come up with this, I did not graduate from the institute, is it really so difficult, author? Or is there again the principle "I don't care about anything except Jantom?" Well, then, well done, you keep the bar.
Then Tom asks why she didn't tell before, then at the party. And Janna shows how, in her opinion, Tom would react to her words. And she shows him as a selfish don't care who doesn't care about other people's problems. But Tom stopped being like that in the second season, he already became worried and caring and was like that in season 3 and in season 4 and in TVSJ and in short comics, and even here when Janna left, Tom was worried about her, and then he flew to save her. So Moringmark, you are now contradicting not only the canon, but also your own comics. Guy, damn it, drink the pills already, I beg you by Christ-God!
Well, how does this circus end?
Tumblr media
I don't know about you, but after Tom's words that he has an idea, I got ready to develop the plot into an interesting story where Tom and Janna will solve the problems of their relationship, and Avila will interfere with them. But how damn naive I was. No plot for you, no interest, just for another sudden ability of Tom and shut up. But from a similar concept with this problem for a hundred years, it would be possible to build an interesting plot, but the author decided to sort everything out in just a few minutes by asking the right heel for a solution to the problem that he himself came up with. Bravo, the author, just bravo and I'm still talking about the fact that it turns out Avila didn't have a plan and she stupidly merged didn't say.
Another problem is the stretching of the plot. The whole comic is the same in volume as the TVSJ, but I'm not the only one who feels that there is much less eventfulness there. In fact, the whole comic could be put in 5 parts, maybe in 10, but not in 50. For example, the battle scene in the church could easily be shortened, and not do the part whose essence is that Avila hit Janna twice. Or combine part 47 with part 48 - let Tom first thank Janna, and then immediately ask why she didn't say it before, it can all be put in one part. And there are many such examples of reduction, but Moringmark seems to have decided to play Lev Tolstoy and stretch the events of literally one day into a whole epic. Even keeping the intrigue turned into just stretching the pieces
Well, fuck it with the plot and eventfulness - the main problem is that Moringmark solved the completely wrong problem. After all, the split in Jantom did not happen because Janna is mortal, and Tom is not, it was all perfectly solved, but because Janna thought about whether she should meet Tom at all, she found that she was gradually getting bored with him. Without this uncertainty, she would have met him calmly, there would have been no reason to part and everything would have been fine. And just the fact that if she left Tom, she would die quickly did not interfere with their relationship, but on the contrary, saved them (Janna's words "Sooner or later I will get tired of him and I will stay with him just to live"). And now this factor of sudden death has been removed, but the doubts have not gone away, so it is logical that Janna can now leave Tom without fear for her existence. In order to save the couple, it was necessary to discuss just Janna's doubts, perhaps then they would have decided something and then it is unlikely. And so Moringmark tried to save the pair, but in the end he himself showed its non-viability.
Tumblr media
And by the way, he destroyed not only the couple, but also the life of Janna herself. Because for the reasons above, Janna will break up with Tom. Not necessarily immediately, maybe it will happen in a year or two, but it will definitely happen. And if Tom had not made Janna immortal, then she would have quietly lived out her years and without any problems went somewhere to Valhalla. And so she will part with Tom and will live for a long time, but not happily, because immortality is not such a rosy thing as it seems - first of all, she will see a bunch of deaths of her friends and relatives, consider that only Tom will remain from her acquaintances, so such a gesture can even be regarded as a betrayal of everyone for the sake of love. Secondly, although she has a lot of souls, her brain is quite human and it is not capable of perceiving such an amount of information that will accumulate over a very long life, therefore Janna will go crazy. Based on all this, she will naturally lose the point of living (and someone has already seen subtle hints of self-loathing and suicidal tendencies in her character), but she will not even be able to hang herself to get rid of these endless souls. And everything will end with the fact that Janna will be left all alone in an empty universe, where everyone died except herself. And sitting alone somewhere she will think "And this is all for one horny guy?" Janna, my girl, how sorry I am for you - the author not only leaked you, but also found eternal torment. Aren't you ashamed, Moringmark? Shame on you!
Bottom line: "Explosion from the Past" is the shittiest comic I've ever seen. Even if I want to justify it, I will not succeed. What not to do - everything is bad - the characters are merged, the plot is stretched, the problem is sucked out of the finger and solved for once or twice, the villain just gave up himself - and all this for the sake of just one couple, and even that will not last long. It would be possible to praise the comic for the plot twists in relation to Avila - but also not, we were shown at the beginning that she drinks blood
Tumblr media
Of course, there is also drawing, jokes, a good design of Avila and her friends - but all this is so small. So, Moringmark, one point to you for the comic. Unfair? I agree, but this is the lowest rating that can be given, I'm sorry.
Well, the overall result. Someone may, based on my swearing, think that I am a Moringmark hater. However, this is far from the case, as for me, he also has good interesting works - I still remember the same "Ship war" with some warmth, and I don't mind rereading the "Tales of Two Butterfly" once again. And I would also tell you in detail about their awesome, but both comics were interrupted at the most interesting place, and only the weak ones turned out to be finished, the ones that I sorted out today. His short comics are also quite good, interesting, funny, and it seems to me that it was them that he had to continue drawing. It doesn't work out in his global plot, it turns out either badly or without continuation, what can I do about it?
And I would like to wish Moringmark good luck in his further work, and also to say - don't try to make big comics, you can't do it, the fact is the fact, sorry. The fact that you make an interesting plot, and then interrupt it, only spoils the impression, so if you're not sure, don't take it. I repeat, you have great short comics, make them. But not often, otherwise you'll burn out. We are not troglodytes, we don't need so many comics, so we can release a comic book a week somewhere, that will be enough for us. It's your business, of course, but he's quite a good artist and I don't want you to get tired of your work and you did it for show, which often happens with the same type of activity. So of course try, but not to your own detriment.
And by the way, finally - if you have nothing to do on SVTFOE, then catch the idea. Do you remember how you once asked subscribers through a Glossary to throw off ideas for different AU? So, I think that this cooperative with fans should be restored, it's not bad. You don't know what to do - ask the fans for ideas, we have a fantasy, we'll come up with so many things for you that you won't have time to draw everything. Think about my offer, okay?
That is all. See you soon, write how you like my analysis.

"200 pages of Jantom" part 1
Hello everyone. Surely many of you have heard about such an artist as Moringmark. Yes, the one who drew comics on Gravity Falls, Owl House and many other fandoms. I'm sure you know about this. I know about him, too. And as for me, despite the variety of universes on which he draws his works, he distinguished himself most of all in drawing comics based on "SVTFOE". Agree, in his work this is quite a long period, during which he managed to do a lot and become famous so well. He is considered a genius, his comics are loved, and some even compare with the canon. And based on this love, I decided to make a small analysis of Moringmark's comics on "SVTFOE" and see if they are as good as they say they are. Without further ado - go ahead!
To begin with, I'll tell you why I think Moringmark distinguished himself in the "SVTFOE" fandom. The fact is that basically his work on any fandom consists of short sketches in two pages about which you can't say much. They were not much different from the same other authorship. Maybe there was something interesting in them, but not enough to do a review. It's simple - they are good, but not stand out and it makes little sense to talk about them for a long time.
However, recently (a year ago) they became somehow too much to go out and because of this, interest in them has lost. No, of course it's good that Moringmark tried to please his viewers with new content as often as possible, but this frequency was harmful. It's just that when new art comes out from someone from whom it hasn't been out for a long time, you sincerely rejoice at it and begin to appreciate it as something that can be rarely seen. And the release of Moringmark comics has become for me personally equal to the daily consumption of tea - it's nice, of course, but it's already commonplace. And none of these comics had any value - after all, there is still a whole bunch of the same, take it and smear yourself. The only emotion that his comics have caused me lately is surprise. It's amazing how one person can produce new comics every day. Isn't he getting tired?
Of course, he gets tired, and this became evident from the quality of his comics' drawing. Here's what part of his comic book from 2017 looks like
Tumblr media
And it is 2022
Tumblr media
Yeah... When did we descend from a more or less acceptable style to this anime with triangular mouths? Although I can understand how it happened. I have already made the first assumption - the man was tired and was already drawing on the dump without any desire to do it. The second assumption is that he didn't even try to do well. It is more likely, because in the Owl House comics, which he also rivets now even more often than one a day, the drawing did not slip into such diarrhea. And this can be understood - TOH is still a lively and active fandom where there are a lot of fans and spaces for creativity, therefore there are a lot of good artists in it and you really need to compete for audience sympathy. And in the case of SVTFOE, this need has disappeared. After all, the series ended a long time ago and very few people do something really interesting on it. And taking advantage of the lack of competition and his ideas in his head, Moringmark began to scribble his comics like an automaton, because he has so many fans - after all, where there is no fish, not only will she have cancer, but also a jellyfish. So why try if the audience so grabs everything and the main thing is to do it often so that interest does not fall. This is Moringmark's cunning strategy for increasing popularity by counting the number. For me, this is wrong and it's better to do less, but it's better, but again, here as anyone likes
But in the Star vs the Forces of Evil fandom, in addition to sketches, there were also large comics with a plot that can be disassembled. However, to be honest, not all, but only two - "Tom vs Jannanigans" and "Explosion from the past" as soon as their author finished. The rest he threw halfway. For example, "The Dark Side of the Moon" and "The Other World" got screwed up on 7 parts and there's nothing to talk about. And the more famous "Ship Wars" and "Tales of Two Butterfly", although they have 70-plus parts and quite an interesting plot, I still won't speak about them until the end, even with all my desire, because it's unclear whether they will be better later, worse, whether heroes will appear there which were in those parts (for example, in "The Tale of Two Butterfly" was like a Set.
Tumblr media
- did Mark plan to introduce it further?), what will this or that storyline lead to - all this is lost, and forever, since Moringmark said that his AU is bottomless abysses to which he is afraid touch. But I don't swear for that - often the one who starts writing some story doesn't know what to do with it. This is especially the case when the plot of the story is very well twisted, everyone is waiting for an interesting denouement - and you simply don't have it, you're not able to come up with something really interesting, because you didn't have a plan when you wrote everything. The creators of the series had such a problem when they introduced a global plot in the first season, and subsequently they had to periodically depart from it due to the fact that they did not know how to move it further. And there are two ways - either to write a denouement on the dump, like figure out how and what yourself, or just fuck up and give up, admitting his inconsistency, which the author actually did. And he wrote only two comics, and actually we will now give them a fair verdict.
Let's start with "Tom vs Jannanigans". I got acquainted with this comic thanks to inadequate shipers. That's how it turned out. The fact is that the post-final content that I found usually consisted of different shipping art, most often Starco and Jantom. Both of these performances were also actively promoted by the fans themselves. To say that it really pissed me off is to say absolutely nothing. And if I could understand why everyone was so fixated on Starсo after the finale of the animated series, then with the second pering I have some misunderstanding why? What's wrong with him? If there is something I hate Jantom, and this happened precisely because most of the fandom of the series consider the second canon to be almost the most terrible couple of the animated series. And here it is probably worth explaining why I consider it such. Well...
Тo begin with, there is only one episode dedicated to this couple in the series. Otherwise, their interaction boils down to small moments that you will see (like Janna looks at Tom with surprise as well as everyone he passes by, they hold hands together when they are grabbed by a stump, but this is also just not to die and all that stuff). And I would finish with that, since it's obvious that you can't open a pair to the right level in one episode, remember how much time it took for Star and Marco to be together, but the problem is that even in this notorious series about boots, they don't seem to want to develop a pair. When I watched this series, I couldn't imagine Janna and Tom even as just friends, the chemistry between them is zero.
And they hung out together just because Tom wanted to distract himself from communicating with Star (at first he wasn't even interested in Janna, he was stuck on the phone), and Janna called him purely to kill the crow, i.e. both acted within their own interests, and Janna was also a real fanatic who for the sake of his own whim, he is ready to take someone's life, and with someone else's hands, and at the same time return Tom to his demonic past, which he has been getting rid of for a long time.
And that's it, this couple didn't have any more scenes in common, they shouted at each other for the rest of the series. However, I was usually answered to such claims that yes, they certainly shouted, but now they are at an early stage of friendship, they still need to communicate and there is ground for this - Janna can help Tom survive the breakup with Star, and Tom can help Janna with her internal problems related to pretending to be cool and learn to communicate with people. My God, I'm only in favor, the development of a couple is great. But where? For the remaining 9 episodes, the pair did not advance a millimeter and remained stagnant
But the question is, why did she rise so high then? Why do so many people ship it at all? The author of the blog "Make some Manna" put it very accurately here. He writes, "The existence of Jantom is proof of a superficial understanding of personality and relationships, and its popularity indicates that for many, shipping is more important than storytelling and character development." And I agree with him. Because let's be honest, despite the lame chemistry and the lack of history, Gentom is shippered for only three reasons
1. They both love to tease Marco
Nonsense! Janna does it, but not out of spite. She has such a flirtation, even Marco admits it in the "Guide to Dimensions". It is a common practice for children to express affection in this way and Janna, let me remind you, has never learned how to do it and she has to attract Marko's attention as it turns out. And Tom has stopped bothering Marco since season 2, they have been strong friends
2. Janna will be better than Star to put up with Tom's anger
Firstly, Tom's anger passed even before they met Janna, and she only provokes it from him on the contrary. Secondly, you have pity on Janna, she is not iron to withstand everything, it was evident from the series "Jannanigans"
Tumblr media
Look at her, I think she's going to cry soon
3. Janna loves all kinds of mysticism and she will be interested with the demon Tom
Not, well, this is the base. According to this logic, Janna can start a relationship with Tom's mother or grandfather. No, well, they're demons too, why not? I repeat for those who are in Panzervagen - a couple cannot have only one point of contact. It can begin to develop with one thing, for example, with a common interest (a great example is Kellco) and the characters can begin to communicate after learning that they are fond of something together, but in the course of this both should learn more about each other - about character, other hobbies, attitude to others, something else and on based on this, to understand whether they should meet, be friends, or never see each other again.
And based on that series, I realized that in the case of Jeanne and Tom, the latter is best suited, because Tom is not interested in Janna at all. Just like she is to them - it is clear that for her Tom is not a good understanding guy, as for Star, not a loyal friend, as for Marco - he is for her first of all a demon who fulfills her wishes and if she marries him, it is only to take the throne of hell, and not because he loves. Do I need to say how bad such a relationship is?
Especially the heroine, for whom his race is primarily important in a partner, looks stupid in a cartoon that shows that racism is bad
And the most important reason why so many people seem to ship a terrible couple is that it is convenient for the fandom. After the announcement of the Starco canon, not so many heroes remained free, so the fandom chose Janna and Tom by more or less similarity between the free heroes. That is, it turns out they could not get acquainted in the series at all or have something in common, they would have been brought together anyway, since they remained unoccupied. In this case, it generally looks like just to ship and the option that Janna or Tom would prefer to be alone, no one accepts without couples.
The bottom line is that Jantom is a terrible, overrated couple who only acts as an addition to Starco. And I actively defended this opinion, because it's still true, but in response I received something like "Yes, they couldn't at the time of the series, but everything is possible, have you seen the Moringmark comic on Jantom? There, in addition to Tom and Janna themselves, he tried to explain some inconsistencies"
Survived. We justify the perings with the phrase "Everything can be". How, for example, could Jackie and Tom also become a couple behind the scenes, could it be? And I was talking about the fact that they will not be a couple in the canon, the canon was originally the speech, what does some kind of left-wing fan comic have to do with it? And there were decent comments like that, almost everyone recommended this comic to me. Finally I couldn't stand it and decided - why not? Of course, I will not change my opinion about the canonical Jantom, since the comic, whatever it is, is not official, but if this comic is recommended, then it is still good and worth reading. Moreover, Moringmark was already known to me from "Ship War" - one of my most favorite comics, because there was no reason to doubt that this comic would also shoot.
I will say right away - the comic is drawn quite acceptably. It was the time when Moringmark had not yet slipped in terms of drawing, so the visual part is pleasant. But we are interested not only in the wrapper, but also in its content. And I had doubts about him. After watching some part of the comic, I understood its concept - the author added some moments to the canon of the animated series, which gradually brought the heroes of the OTP closer together. And I immediately realized that it was unlikely that the comic would be good. No, I have nothing against adding pering development to the canon, this is acceptable, especially when your thorn in the canon is not developed from the word at all, as it was with Jantom. The problem was that Mark chose the wrong time period for the narrative - the present canon. No, it's not illegal to write in it, of course, it's just very difficult. I'll explain why now.
If you want to write the development for a couple in the canon, and not in some separate universe with other events, then you face some restrictions imposed by the canon. For example, a character who is needed is already dating someone and you need to either wait for them to break up according to the canon, or somehow breed them yourself. And then also to develop his relationship with the right hero, taking into account their attitude to each other at this stage (are they friends, acquaintances or enemies?). You also need to pick out the moments when both the right characters were not in the plot, to know when they met and whether they are familiar at all... In short, you understand.
And usually canonical fan fiction is written either in the past tense (well, if of course they were familiar with the canon), or in the future. And in both times, if desired, it can be easily done, almost all events are in your hands, do what you want, fall in love with whom and how you want, write events what you want, treat each other the characters you will have as you want and you will have restrictions only on one side. And if you write about the present, then there are many times more canonical barriers, because all the events, the relationships of the characters, meetings, breakups - everything is already spelled out and you will have to maneuver between them, trying to kill two birds with one stone at the same time - and not get out of the canon and develop a couple normally. But again, since the comic is recommended, then the author has coped with this goal
(Spoiler: No)
It all starts exactly as it should - season 1, a series about the blood moon ball, Jackie and Janna catch some kind of scolopendra and the first reproaches the latter that she often uses others for her own purposes, to which she responds with her standard "I don't care". After that, they ride down the corridor on a skateboard and see first Tom, and then his carriage. Janna, overcome with interest, climbs into it. There she is noticed by the incoming Tom and naturally, since he is still evil, the essence does not incinerate her. But she manages to trick him, he leaves, and Janna gets acquainted with the beauties of the underworld. By the way, here is an important frame for further analysis
Tumblr media
That is, the underworld in this comic is a Christian hell (of course, Dante's works cannot be called a Christian canon, in fact they are fan fiction, but we will assume that this is what hell looks like). This is important, we will come back to this later. In the meantime, Janna notices that they say everything is completely rotten in hell, no one works and no one tortures (Janna, you haven't been to the hell of the Hazbin Hotel yet, there's paradise there at all). And all because one horned comrade does not fulfill his royal duties assigned to him by his parents who left for Hawaii. Therefore, our war girl takes everything on herself and raises hell in just a few minutes while Tom was at the ball. A few minutes, Carl! She would have been sent to Russia at the beginning of the XX century, she would have asked there!
Well, okay, what's what, and Janna is fumbling in hell, so I'm ready to accept this. But here's next... Then Tom returns from the ball in an ice cube, as Star actually left him. Janna unfreezes it and what does our demon do when he sees in front of him the one he was chasing through the underworld a few minutes ago? Did you continue to do this? Angrily asked what she was doing here? Maybe surprise prevailed over anger and he asked how she survived in the lava into which she, as he thinks, fell?
No damn, he pours out his soul to her!
Tumblr media
They barely know each other, and this unbalanced devil communicates with her as with an old friend, talks about his problems - as if another person completely. I accept that in some places the author could have moved a little away from the canon, but then he flew 100 kilometers away from it. And most importantly - for what? To show that Tom wants Star back? Good evening, Stirlitz, we knew it so well! To show that Tom is completely different and vulnerable at heart? Well, bravo, Maestro, I have not seen a more crooked display of such things. Did you want to make a joke? It's not funny, it's a stupid and rude blunder in a place where it's the hardest to do. So well done, F
But Tom's parents return and he sees how this stranger tried for him. After that, the parents go somewhere again (although they just arrived), and the main characters make a deal - Janna undertakes to perform duties for Tom that he cannot cope with, and Tom grants Janna the right to live in hell and do whatever she wants there. And the beginning, if you remove the moment with the outpouring, is very much nothing. It lays the foundation of "involuntary allies" for further dynamics, and it coincides with the canon. So I was waiting for the continuation.
In the second chapter, Tom's parents arrive , royal duties no longer need to be performed, and Tom throws Janna out of hell.
Okay, I'm sorry. In the second chapter, Janna reads an interesting law in the book - a demon can prolong the life of a mortal by giving him a soul. And it goes to that. Meanwhile, Tom is trying to persuade Sir Crandle, his spy in Butterfly Castle, to follow Marco on Earth, that is, to fulfill the events of episode 2 of season 2. But he doesn't know anything about Earth and Tom already wants to kill him, but then Janna appears and offers Him another deal - she hypnotizes the spy so that he is suitable for this job, and Tom gives her one soul in return (why does she need it - and fuck knows it).
Tom agrees to the deal, but Crandle just doesn't give in to hypnosis, and so Janna decides to sneak into the magic department and take a crystal there, which enhances the effect of hypnosis. With the help of a Glossaryk, they go there, but the further they go deeper, the more scared they are, because they enter the lair of local spiders. And he tries to warn Janna, saying that it's dangerous next. And, I hasten to upset you, it hardly means that he is worried about her - she is not so close to him that he does it. After all, during the time that passed from the events of the first chapter to the second, he hardly talked much with her, since for him she was just a girl who performed his duties and it is unlikely that he would be interested in her when he aspires to Star. Again, it's all about the deal - there will be no Janna, there will be no hypnosis and his plan to return Star will fail.
And Janna doesn't care, she goes ahead, calling Tom a coward and first she is put to sleep by that little spider, which will later put Moon to sleep, and then catches the big one. And that would be the end of Janna, but Tom still returns to save her. And while Tom is fighting with the spider, Jeanne is trying to cut off the crystal, the cave begins to collapse and Tom declares that there is no need to be so selfish (firstly, whose cow would low, secondly, she is trying for you, you need to return the Star one). But the words affect Janna and she runs away, saving her life
However, the fact that they did not get the crystal does not mean that the deal is broken - Crandle is successfully hypnotized by the spider, and Tom tries to give Janna her souls, but this procedure breaks off when Janna finds out how it happens - through a kiss and she realizes that the souls are not worth it. But the most interesting thing is you know what
Tumblr media
Claims to Tom: are you sure you're canonical? It seems that you want to return the Star, but in parallel you are flirting with another girl. Blink if the author makes you do it...
To Janna:now you're disgusted, and then it won't be disgusting to kiss him. Are you also being tortured by the author, what kind of double standards?
After talking to Tom, Janna goes home, goes to bed, falls asleep quickly and soundly, she has good colored dreams and she never thinks about this stupid demon again.
That's how this comic was supposed to end. But it doesn't end like that. Of course, Janna goes to bed, but she can't fall asleep and remembers Tom lying with her eyes open. And here again the question is - what happened that made her think about Tom like that at night? After all, during the time between chapters, she also hardly communicated very much with Tom - he was for her a guide to the world of demons and someone with whom it would be possible to make a good deal, that is, as a person, she was not interested in him at all. She is not even interested in his drama with Star and she responds to his flirtation with disgust.
Then why? Because he told her not to be selfish? Well, Jackie also reproached her in a similar way at the beginning of the comic, did she also remember it like that? Because he tried to kiss her? She only remembered it with reluctance before going to bed. There was nothing between her and Tom at that moment that she couldn't just fall asleep and not think about him. So at this point I realized that the love line here is already crooked.
The third chapter. In it, Tom is preparing for his anger test.
And for this he studies the films of Mackie Hand. But the films about him have not been released on DVD, there is no information about him on the Internet either, so again, Janna speaks with a desire to help. And here she does not receive any benefits in return, so I dare to assume that she is going to help in a friendly way, that is, she no longer perceives Tom as a tool for use. This change happened somehow quickly, but more on that later. Tom is going to find out all the necessary information by moving into the actor's head, which Jeanne helps him with by reading a spell in Latin
Tumblr media
In his head they will know how he died. It turns out that during his last film, when the director told him to play more naturally, the actor suddenly thought that the villain in the film was real and promised him that he would send him to hell and follow him there too. And as a result of the jump, he died and because of his promise he went to hell, not to heaven. And this is of course good, but will someone explain to me how it works? Makie Hand went to hell because he wanted to before he died? And if I wish to get to heaven before jumping off the roof, will I get there? Don't make me check it out, Mark! And in general, why is it that Mackie Hand suddenly, after being asked to play more naturally, decided that he was facing a real villain, if before that he perfectly understood that this was an actor? He is evidently in a quarrel with his head, it is evident that he is an enemy to himself. It is necessary to invent such a thing - well, a fool.
And I'm not only talking about the actor, but also about the comic author, who with his light scripted hand made him say and do it. Moringmark is sometimes so brilliant that an adequate person cannot understand him with all his desire. That's what kind of drugs he came up with this story? Can I have the same, but twice as much? Because after all, Mackie Hand is not the most revealed hero of the series, it was possible to come up with something good about him, but the author came up with some illogical shit. That's how he gets to screw up in places where it's even intentionally impossible to do?
But in any case, Tom wrote down what he needed, but Janna does not know how to get them out of the actor's head. And after a while of searching, they find in his mind a section responsible for the present. And Janna matures a plan - she dresses Tom up in the costume of the villain from the movie and lets him into battle with the ghost of the actor. Where did she get the suit from? Yes, I just imagined it. It's not a bad reference to Gravity Falls, but it's nothing compared to this
Tumblr media
Also, this scene shows that Janna, despite the fact that she is friends with Tom, is still ready to let him be slaughtered, that is, she does not value him so much. Mackie Hand naturally finishes Tom in full, notices that this is not a real villain, understands that all this time everything was just a movie and lets the heroes out of his head. Finally, Janna tries to get his autograph. And it would seem - why would she need him? She doesn't watch karate movies and isn't a fan of Makie Hand. Obviously, she wants to ask for an autograph for Marco, who, on the contrary, is crazy about Makie. This proves that Jeanne knows perfectly well what Marco needs and tries to get it at every opportunity
(Yes, I just found a hint of Janco in a comic about Jantom)
True, the actor does not know that he died, but our heroes decide that it is normal. The chapter ends with them finding themselves holding hands.
The fourth chapter. Its events take place at the beginning of season 3. Tom is sad at the bar about Star, and Janna quarrels, and then reconciles with some demon, drinking a mug of pig goat milk with him. And here I want to mention a rather interesting hedcanon. The fact is that in the "Star and Marco's Guide to Dimensions", Janna says that she considers her body an occult temple, so she does not drink anything stronger than cranberry juice. Accordingly, she will not take alcohol in her mouth for any kind of cake. And Morningmark needs Janna to be drunk further along the plot. Therefore, he came up with, frankly, a strange but interesting property for pig goat milk - it acts like alcohol on everyone who is not a demon.
It's strange because pig goats are actively bred on the Mewni and probably feed on their products, so to speak, but I haven't seen any boozy Mewnians. And on the one hand, Mark is well done for not forgetting about the occult temple, on the other hand, he is again in a bad genius with these ideas. That's why milk? Was it impossible to come up with some purely demonic drink for this purpose?
Well, whatever it was, Janna gets drunk in the firewood and Tom first wants to throw her out on the street, but then he realizes that this is not manly and decides to hold a drunk girlfriend in his room until she sobers up. This shows that he has become less selfish towards people over the past time, which is quite according to the canon. Janna in Tom's room pukes on his turntable, which Star gave him on the first date, Tom naturally flares up and decides that he needs to undergo demoncism in order not to hurt anyone else with these fits of anger. And Janna takes offense at Tom, says that she needs him painfully, he went with his drama, I don't have to run around with him and in parallel (as Zadornov said, "Breathe air into your chest, it will be like this"!) goes to the store, buys colored paper there, goes back home, makes out of this paper the same turntable that she ruined and decides that she needs to apologize to Tom. And all this is unconscious
I understand it was another attempt to make a funny scene. So - just like in the first case, it failed and it looks not funny, but as stupid as possible. I don't know about you, but I can't look at how a character says one thing and does the exact opposite. She said in plain text that she would no longer go to Tom and at the same time makes a turntable to apologize - did it really not seem idiotic to the author? No, of course it happens that you do something unconsciously, on automatism, but such actions as going to the store and buying something is too long and requires reflection process. Does Janna have such large lapses in consciousness? So the scene is stupid and only needed to show that Janna somehow has a special attitude to Tom, not the way she shows.
Well, anyway, Janna is looking for Tom (in parallel, we find out that she put a beacon on his horn. What for? Like she's really wondering where he's hanging out or what?), misses the chopper, Tom finds it and this is what happens
And why did Janna suddenly burst into tears? Is it because of Tom? Well, then it's generally stupid. Well, she didn't want to see him an hour ago, now she's suddenly started crying. That is, the author himself cannot decide how Janna treats him - is he dear to her or is she not interested in him? Yes, the comic is good, there is nothing to say, it does not cope with the main goal - to show a normal love story.
The fifth chapter begins after a fairly decent amount of time after the events of the fourth. First, Tom comes home to Janna and asks for forgiveness for what happened before. Janna is still sulking at him and he has to leave. Well, Janna decides to spend the day at Britta's taco and, as expected, wakes up in Meteora's room. And this is of course great, except that the events of this chapter take place during the events of episode 8 of season 4, and Janna was sitting with a Meteora only in the tenth, therefore she has nothing to do with this place and could not wake up there.
Well, okay, it's just a little thing. Janna naturally wants to understand what kind of gypsy tricks these are and goes to the Mewnian library to look for information about sleepwalking there. But he finds a spell that can remove feelings for someone. And she decides to test it first on someone (to whom she herself wants to remove feelings, I hope you understood and I also understood, but it's too early to being evil about this). And then just at hand is Marco with disturbing feelings for Star. Janna takes him to the place where she actually hypnotized him and first of all asks what Tom thinks about her. Marco's answer is that Tom thinks she's weird. This must be remembered. And when Janna decides to start hypnotizing Marco and destroying his feelings, her reflection suddenly starts talking to her from the mirror. And it says this - it's better not to destroy Marco's feelings for Star, but to use them to destroy the Start. Of course, it does not say this in plain text, but the hint is clear. Janna is understandably shocked and says that this is low even for her and she is not so keen on this demon. And the reflection is like, "Come on, it's been 4 months, and you haven't forgotten about him. Just don't do anything, let's see what happens." And now I have an immodest question - how long has Janna been communicating with her reflection like this? What kind of trouble is this with the head? It really looks like some kind of crazy.
Then everything is basically according to the events of the series, the only thing is when Janna stops the elevator, calls that bridge guard and falling from the bridge Marco notices that Janna is too Janna. Do you understand anything? I'm not, apparently Janna is playing too much mischief probably to attract the attention of Tom (base). And when Star and Marco break the curse, Janna approaches Tom and apologizes for the chopper. Tom says that everything is fine, he is not angry, because from that moment his relationship with Star went uphill. That is, their four-month split is finally settled.
And Janna thinks, "Why not destroy her feelings as well as Star and Marco." With the help of a split, she is transported to the moment when she was riding a skateboard past Tom and tries not to look at him. But then the reflection reappears and says that does she really think that it was love at first sight and in order to forget about Tom forever, she needs to forget something else

Are you kidding me? Of course, I said that the couple should develop due to such joint moments. And I would praise Moringmark for giving Jantom something he didn't have in the series, but can he answer me before that where did he get these scenes from? They weren't in the comic, that's for sure. The development of the couple should take place not behind the scenes, but in front of our eyes. Here, Star and Marco have joint scenes in the series, which gradually brought them closer and formed their relationship. And here it looks like the author caught himself and thought, "So, Janna loves Tom, but I didn't have a normal couple development. And, shit, I'll throw random scenes where they spend time together like they were." And do not write that it would be uninteresting to look at it - you may not be interested, but I, reading a comic about Jantom, do not mind seeing those scenes where Jantom develops. And not only me - I'm sure anyone who missed this couple in the series came to this comic with the hope of seeing more scenes of their favorite couple together. Well, the author doesn't want to show it in the main plot - what prevented him from making some "Tom vs Jannanigans: shorts" and showing it all there? This was actively practiced with "Ship war" and "The Tales of Two Butterfly". So what's worse about this comic? Short stories about how Tom and Janna had fun together would ideally look somewhere between 2 and 3 or 3 and 4 chapters, when the relationship of the characters allows the presence of such moments. And the development of the couple, and the interest in the continuation warms up, and maybe there would have been more time to come up with a script normally without dummies.
And since I started asking awkward questions, then I guess you can also ask this one - what the hell is Janna's love for Tom?! From where? There were hints of it, of course, the same scene with the turntable. But it is not shown at what point did Janna do it, when she realized that she was in love? Like then in bed or something? Well, I already talked about the relationship of the heroes at that time, and in view of them, Janna could not fall in love with Tom, and there could not be all these moments of development either, therefore it is unclear why she fell in love with him. For being a demon? Again the old hurdy-gurdy, I thought Mark was struggling with it on the contrary
However, there is something to praise the author for - no matter how sudden all these moments are, Janna understands that they are important to her, as is Tom himself, who is the only one who started to cause changes in her and decides not to get rid of all this. But at the same time, when the reflection says that it is necessary to distract Tom from Star, its owner understands that even though she loves Tom, Tom himself is unlikely to share this love, he is happy with Star and it is impossible to interfere with this happiness for the sake of his own whim. Therefore, with the help of a split, she separates the hated reflection from herself. In fact, this is a pretty strong scene that shows that Janna has really grown up as a heroine, has become less selfish, has begun to appreciate someone else's happiness more and is even ready to sacrifice her own for him. And the integration of the scene, which in the original was purely for fun, is not bad. Here, as they say, + 5000 social credit to the author. But whether it will still be...

Someone will ask - how could the former mayor of Gravity Falls start the First World War? It's very simple - he was the driver of Franz Ferdinand's car and took the Archduke to where Gavrilo Princip was waiting for them
