2 Months Without Veganism
Beginning in August I will be attending college, 18 hours away from my home. Even when at home, it is very difficult for me to maintain veganism because of our difficult financial situation. A few months ago, my mom broke down crying because she was so stressed about whether they would be able to support my dietary habits when they're also paying for room and board, books, etc.  Although there are some vegan options in the school cafeteria, it wont be a substantial or healthy option. Although it broke my heart, a few months ago I started to ease myself back into vegetarianism rather than veganism.
And I hated every minute of it.
Immediately I could tell a difference. I felt so weighed down and sick after meals. I've had chronic abdominal migraines for about 10 years, and they occurred much less frequently when I was vegan. Lately I've been getting sick at least once a week. Not to mention the fact that I've gained almost 10 pounds.
I also could not stop thinking about the fact that I was supporting such an awful, awful industry. The burden was starting to take its toll on me both physically and mentally, and it was too much.
After 2 and a half months of not being began, I've decided to return to veganism. I've gotten  second job in order to assure that I can support my diet in college without putting the burden on my family. And although its tough, I couldn't be happier. Sure veganism is hard. But it is so worth it. This has absolutely reaffirmed in me how passionate I am about animal rights.
I know ill probably get a lot of criticism about having a blog dedicated to animal rights while not fully committing to it, but I really felt like I needed to share my story to show how incredible the difference veganism makes.
I knew I could never see myself eating meat again, but now I know to never let my circumstances determine what I value. And being vegan will always be something I value greatly.
I'm so happy to say I am again, and permanently, vegan.

You perpetuate a corrupt system by participating in it. End the cruelty, don't just look away.

Quote
Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals.

Quote
Right now, at this very moment, on American highways, there are no less than five thousand concentration camp trucks. Trucks that we’ve constructed. Inside these trucks, there are living, terrified, innocent beings. Cows, pigs, chickens.. These trucks are being driven to concentration camp slaughterhouses that we’ve carefully constructed all across America. When the trucks arrive, the animals are so frightened they won’t even get off the truck. They’re not stupid. They know what’s next. So people go on the trucks with electric prods and force them to walk down the shoots to their own death. Or if the animals are small enough to man-handle, like chickens, we’ll just grab them off the trucks and toss them inside. INSIDE these innocent, living beings are hanged upside down, fully conscious. In other words, they go in ALIVE, against their will, and come out CHOPPED UP into hundreds of pieces. Do you know what’s more insane than that? Meat eaters. Walking around like their lifestyle isn’t causing any harm. Like it’s normal and natural to be consuming violence and death.
This is the BEST speech you will ever hear! (given by Gary Yourofsky)
Yes yes yes.
