I saw a post going around a while ago (including from a non-US moot) about getting comfortable lying to law enforcement

Here's the thing. In the US.

DO NOT TALK TO LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

If you are in a situation where you're lying to law enforcement, you are already interacting too much. STOP TALKING.

You can ask if you are free to go. You can keep asking.

Per the National Lawyers Guild, ESPECIALLY do not lie to the FBI. Do not say things to them that could be construed as lying. Those are serious charges. The best way around that is NOT TALKING.

This is gonna seem like an odd time to say this because a lot of the negativity feels very justified right now but I'm sitting here reading how some of yall post and wondering like. I'm gonna need some of yall to THINK before you post

Yes we live in what feel like inescapable circumstances but do you REALLY think your defeatism and your constant catastrophizing is really doing you, personally, any good? All you are doing is feeding into these thought patterns of misery and helplessness. STOP telling yourself (and others!) that this is the end of the world. STOP telling yourself (and others!!!!) that the only way out of this is with violence against yourself and others. Stop it!! Just stop!! It really is just that simple. Even if you genuinely, truly believe that we're all royally fucked and we're all going to blow up and die on January 6th, stop feeding into it! You're not doing yourself any good. You're not doing the people around you any good.

There is such a thin line between logical analysis and sensationalist garbage and I feel like there's a good handful of you who consider yourselves so level headed and logical that you don't consider if your logical and empirically correct hot political takes are actually USEFUL.

Some of yall I have followed and unfollowed multiple times because I love yall, I really do, but I don't think I've seen some of yall post a single positive thought in the however long I've known you. Hope you get better soon. Like, I'm not saying stick your head in the sand and pretend nothing is wrong, but yall need to make the conscious effort to surround yourself with better things, even if it feels like pulling teeth. For your own damn sake.
