The spear slammed into her side once more and she gasped in pain. Felix smirked, but didn’t back down.

“Show me what you’ve got, lost girl. There has to be some reason that Pan chose you.” he sneered.

She tried to get up, but he kept her down on the ground with the point of the spear placed on her stomach.

“What did I ever do to you, Felix?” she asked quietly. She didn’t understand why the boy let glaring at her or beating her to bits as soon as they entered the training grounds.

“You’re a girl. We don’t let girls come onto the island. You’re distracting everyone.” he snapped, poking her a bit harder. It sliced her shirt even more than it already had, but she ignored it. “Especially Pan.”

“Pan could care less about me. Don’t you see how he treats me? I’m scum to him.” she groaned as she tried to back away from his assault.

“You don’t know him as well as I do. He’s falling in love with you, and that cannot happen. You have to go one way or the other, and if Pan won’t make the shadow take you, then I’ll take care of you myself.”

“Do you even hear yourself? You’re going to try murdering me?”

“It’s what’s best for the camp. We don’t need you.” he sneered.

“Felix!” a voice snapped, and he turned his face to see their leader standing near them with his arms crossed and the hardest glare that she’d ever seen. “That’s quite enough. Go to the camp and await my orders.”

“Of course.” he muttered angrily, taking a harsh sweep across her chest with his spear.

She cried out in pain, tears welling up in her eyes.

“Felix!” Pan yelled, pushing past his right-hand man to kneel beside his only lost girl. Blood seeped through the front of the tattered remains of her shirt, and Pan ripped the rest of it to find the bleeding.

“Pan, I—” she sobbed, almost blacking out from the blood loss. Felix had done a number on her, and the pain was horrible.

“Don’t cry. Just don’t fucking cry.” he mumbled before placing his left hand on the wound. “This might hurt.” he warned her.

She nodded, and suddenly his hand glowed with a strange green energy that spread all over her chest like a burn. She groaned in pain before closing her eyes and slumping into the ground.

“Is she dead?” Felix asked, a smirk evident in his voice.

“No, she’s not, and you better be fucking glad that she’s not or you’d be spending a few dark days deep in the echo caves.” Pan snapped. “As far as I know, you’re still going to be punished severely because this was uncalled for. She didn’t do anything to deserve this.”

She laid on the ground, the blood finally stopping and the wound starting to heal itself from the magic he had put on it.

“Now go. I don’t want to see you tonight. If I see you, then you’re going into a cage.” he warned the boy without looking at him.

“Yes, Pan.” he mumbled.

As soon as the boy was gone, Pan sighed and rubbed his face with his bloody hand and took another look at the mangled girl in front of him. He instantly moved them to her rooms and set her on her bunk.

“Pan?” she mumbled quietly, and he hummed something incoherently to her. “Can I go home?” she whispered.

“Maybe it’d be best.” he replied. “We’ll talk in the morning, okay darling? Sleep well.”
