one of the things i cant wait to change in sunbreeze is just not mentioning magic at all

i know that’s going way off the basis of the Source Material but tbh i just don’t enjoy writing about magic personally, im a melee/weaponry man at heart, plus it means i get to come up with fun, special fairy weapons

like what do you mean the 20 year old book series about kitty cats brutalising each other that’s also so poorly written the fanbase does most of the heavy lifting in crafting theories and aus has had a death grip on me since i was eleven

People think being self aware cancels out mental illness. That when you realise your thoughts or behaviours are irrational you just stop having/doing them

Instead what happens if you're extremely self aware and mentally ill is that you just think in a resigned kind of way "I'm being really fucking crazy right now" while being very loudly mentally ill

Sometimes you are able to tell the people around you "oh, you can ignore me rn. I'm just being extremely mentally ill rn. It will eventually pass" and then continue your erratic behaviour. But mostly it's just privately thinking: "well this is embarrassing but I can't turn it off so just gotta deal with it I guess."

soooo we just got done playing Lisa the Joyful and I forgot how much I hated Buzzo’s little speech at the end, blaming Lisa for everything

Take all the swearing and the dick jokes and whatnot out of the equation and Painful is actually so competently and well written, ESPECIALLY considering the incredibly heavy themes it covers.

Joyful just.. ughh. Having the literal only two female characters both be victims of severe CA and CSA and then portray them as forces of evil while portraying the men around them as the real victims because witnessing their abuse made them sad or w/e

It almost makes painful seem worse by association too bc you start wondering if that game really was as self aware as you initially assumed

im trying a different narrative style on a random old chapter of sunbreeze to see if it’s easier to write and so far the answer is: a lot easier aside from getting used to phrasing things in past tense again

it’s still first person, but yea

i’ve already asked my partner to compare and give feedback after dinner, but if anyone wants to offer an opinion i’ll be happy to drop both versions of the chapter once i’m back at my pc
