I was born and raised in Gaza, a place that has always been my home 🏡. I grew up surrounded by my family, my friends, and the streets that I knew like the back of my hand. Rewatching IT ch 2 and the Jade scene with Richie and Eddie means so much. The “wait Eddie you got married?” From Richie feels like a punch in the gut. Like Richie who just remembered everything, remembered how in love with Eddie he was and all the terror is his childhood queerness in Derry. Of finally having an understanding as to why he never settled down because it always felt like his heart was taken, like the finger on his left hand was waiting for someone specific. Then he sees Eddie and he’s like OH! Oh. There you are.

And Eddie’s like I got married and Richie in some capacity is like you didn’t wait for me? Like I waited for you? You didn’t feel that? So ofc he has to spin it to a joke. He has to because he has to know as much as he can from the conversation without seeming like he’s falling apart so he goes “wait to like a woman?” With a laugh and Eddie goes “fuck you!” Cause that’s easier right? And what’s even easier than that is to put everything he has into two words back, ones they’ve used in replacement of three other words for years.
