His world exploded into gold, regeneration energy bursting out of him. It took everything he had to keep it relatively contained, to keep from hurting Rose.

His thoughts drifted apart, and then knitted themselves together again. Different, but still him. Sort of. Weeeeellll. You know, mostly. Different hardware, same software, as it were. 

And then it was over. 

The Doctor blinked. 

Huh. No colours. That was a bit rubbish. "Hello, oka-" He cleared his throat reflexively. New throat, after all. New everything. He ran his tongue over his teeth. "New teeth. That's weird."

His eyes roved over the interior of his beloved ship. She looked so different in greyscale. Bloody hell.

"So, where was I?" he muttered to himself. Oh, muttering was new, too. "Oh, that's right," he said. "Barcelona!" And at that, he turned to look at Rose again. 

Colour flooded his vision.
