We can be too hard on ourselves sometimes. We compare ourselves to others too much. We aren’t where we are suppose to be in our journey in life because others like us have more than us. But how often do we look back and see how far we have come in life. Life is like running. If you keep going, you will eventually be faster and be able to do longer distances. Keep going. Keep up the good work. I am proud of you!

“That’s the thing about running. Your greatest runs are rarely measured by racing success. They are moments in time when running allows you to see how wonderful your life is.” - Kara Goucher

i wish more runners understood how individual running is for every person. i know runners who go straight back to training the day after a half marathon, but i needed a full week off before trying an easy run. some runners do double run days, i typically only run 4 days a week. some thrive off of using fruits and veggies as their main source of carbs, but that leaves me hungry and unsatisfied.
running is a personal and intimate sport. it’s not meant to be the same for everyone. comparison fuels dread and unreasonable expectations.
honour your own needs. self-trust fuels joy and unrelenting passion.

Motivation today was pretty low. I say for about two hours cuddled in a blanket before finally convincing myself I needed to run today. But 1 hour and 15 minutes later, I’m feeling great! A good run always motivates! Keep Running.

My pace has been slower over the past few day. I’m not sure if it’s the hiatus that I took over the Christmas/New Years time or the fact that the track is full of people walking. I try not to be rude and do my best to squeeze past them. I mean everyone has to start somewhere. But it’s great to back to running again.
*Picture unrelated to today’s run. It’s way too cold out for me

The Beginning: I began running in January 2018. At the time, I had been in nursing school for about a semester and I needed a way to release stress and to prevent weight gain (you do a lot of sitting and studying in nursing school). But I told myself, “This won’t be just about losing weight. I need a higher goal than just weight loss because you will just quit once you achieve that goal. I should try to run a marathon someday. That would be cool.”   I started out modestly. I wanted to run a mile. That did not seem out of reach for someone who hadn’t run a day in their life outside of gym class. I was actually surprised by how quickly I achieved that goal. I wanted to participate in events, so my next natural goal was a 5k run. In a month or so, I was able to achieve that goal. Now I run a 5k on most days. If I have the time, I like to go for longer runs, my furthest run so far has been 17k. I still have not run a half marathon yet. But I am working towards that goal. Anyone else a runner and want to share your story? I would love to hear it!
