She leaned over and kissed him, holding his face in her hands. After pulling back, she rested her forehead against his. “She’s safe. Tori is safe. She’s with one of my friends that he doesn’t know about.”

Without thinking he picked up her. Carrying Justine inside Tanner shut the door with his foot. “I’ve missed you too,” He responded and set her down on the couch.

justine & tanner: meeting

                                      Justine was going to find him. She was going to do the thing that she had been ripped away from her parents to do: find Tanner, or… whatever his name was, she didn’t always listen to the little details. All she really knew was what he was supposed to look like. At sixteen-going-on-seventeen, Justine was a proper bloodhound. She was good at tracking people. Or at least, she hoped she was.

Something in her bones told her she was getting closer to finding him. She had been out on this trek for days, but she was going to find him, and complete her job. But what would happen after that? Would she get to go home? Her thoughts were interrupted when she saw someone tall, with a mess of brown hair. Something clicked in her mind.

There he was.

It was her time.

Justine hugged him back tightly, breathing in how he smelled and taking in how he felt. It had been so long since she had been held like this. “I missed you so much.”

Tanner didn’t really expect anyone. He was surprised to hear the knock. As soon as he had opened the door he pulled her into a hug.
