Unmounted Stones teaser
Hi, my bad for inactivity here!
I've been working on an original animation project. This short will be part of a larger story about crime and debt.

I'm convinced it was a tragedy that tumblr learned the phrase "bury your gays" at the exact same time it decided that any fictional media darker than Landlord White was pearl-clutchingly problematic. Pouring one out for every creator of earnest LGBT+ media wanting to explore the themes of grief loss and tragedy who then got subsequently hounded by mobs of terminally online users brainrotted on nothing but conflict-free coffee shop AUs.

This is actually a pretty good opportunity to talk about how I choreograph my action scenes with Elster!
In my action animations, Elster is fast and "John-Wicky" (if that is even a real word) because I see it as a representation of the gameplay mechanics that you can do with her in the game. When you play as Elster, you often dodge and juke the enemies, or try to draw them into an attack and circle around them with a well-timed run. She can also melee to a limited extent, pushing enemies away from her with her weapon, and of course kicking them while they are down. My animations represent that sort of movement that she and you would and could do in the game. Of course, it has to be more exciting because it's an animation, so the cinematography makes a point too.
But I make it a point so that she never does anything outlandish. She never kicks or jumps or do backflips or any other elaborate martial arts moves. She is pretty static and grounded, and when attacking usually stays in one spot. I try to represent that too. However, I think the most outlandish offender of this rule was the one with the machete, where she spins and twirls around, but that's also more of a "what if?" scenario, since that weapon never made it in the game anyway.
Also Elster is a combat engineer model. She can fight. She can even strafe albeit very slowly unless your definition of strafing is like, Quake 3 Arena. All item descriptions are written from her perspective and she's very wordy with her descriptions of the weapons she gathers too. Her original pattern is one of a soldier.

Hi, is @lizcaingcoy an alt account of yours? I've just seen one of your Signalis animations uploaded by them without any mention or credit of yourself.
liz is a friend of mine! we both use the same character assets for our animations. her animation has a transparent watermark of her handle. mine will usually have SIGNALIS FANART watermarked on the top left. i've been seeing people confuse our animations together, lol

all this doesn't really upset me, hahaha, again, i just thought it was funny. i still am gonna make fanart, but as of late it's been kind of like, "how can i make this fit the tone of the game, instead of being self-indulgent?" kind of way. it does take time and effort to make something like that, so it's not as frequent as it used to be. and i'm also busy with other things recently. cheers
it is weird and funny to me that sometimes, i see people say "arainydancer's cute yuri animations ruined the signalis fandom" because when i made those cute yuri animations, there was no fandom. i just made them for myself and shared it for people who might be interested. THEN, the fandom started to form. it's hilariously unfair in a way, to have your own work be retroactively assigned to be a problem. if there was a fandom i wouldn't have made those cute ones. and i've kinda stopped making cute fanart too
