She shook her head hastily. “I didn’t mean it like that! Of course I’m not glad your brother went on a murdering spree…” She laughed nervously. “What I meant was… well, I’m glad I finally get to see them? I mean, look at that crafting! And the unique forging strategies…” Her eyes were glimmering again, fixed on the weapons in his hands.

Sasuke grunted. It was clear she didn’t care about his clan at all. Itachi’s actions, his clan’s downfall… It meant nothing to her. All her attention was solely due to the quality of the swords.

It was… different.

Tenten clapped her hands together. “But I meant it, you know! I’ll happily purchase them, if you’re selling… Well, how much are you selling for? Even if they haven’t been maintained, with the quality, they’re clearly worth a lot… I’d buy them all! Or… um… maybe just the bottom ones, I could fix them up…” She started to sound more and more discouraged. “Oh, but with the rent payment… and the cleaning… Maybe a discount? For a friend!”

“We’re not friends,” Sasuke said bluntly.

Tenten pouted. “Don’t be rude.” She suddenly perked back up. “But we could be! Why don’t we have a competition? Then we can be friends, and you can give me a half-off discount! Or we could compete… for prizes!”

“…prizes,” Sasuke repeated skeptically. None of this sounded like Tenten actually wanted to be friends. He felt mildly insulted at being used like this for his clan inheritance.

Then again, he hadn’t actually wanted the weapons to begin with. He glanced down at the shining blades, and the stench of rust and rot seemed to seep into the air.

His eyes swept back up as Tenten leaned casually over the counter. “C’mon,” she said lightly. Her eyes sparked. “What’s wrong with a little competition? You don’t think you’re going to lose, do you?”

Rin Nohara is definitely normal

I read some amazing Rin fics on ao3—dragged me into this rabbit hole of her character I never even considered. Her character is barely touched upon in canon, so Rin being portrayed as being fundamentally alien to the rhythms of existing is so interesting. Ahhhhh she’s so normal, I love her so much 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
