Summary: When a portal transports our heroes to the era of Echoes of Wisdom, the Chain gains a new Link! Everyone is keen to welcome Rift to the fold, especially Wild, who takes on the role of the new kid’s mentor. But as he settles in, Rift begins to realize that his adventure wasn’t quite like everyone else's: compared to the others, he barely did anything! Zelda was the hero of his tale, not Link. This realization leaves Rift feeling woefully inadequate, his self-esteem crumbling until it reaches a breaking point. Can Rift’s new brothers, particularly his mentor, help him pick up the pieces and convince him that he truly does belong?

Or: Wild gets a “cub” of his own, Warriors and Time are the best big brothers anyone could ask for, and Rift finds a family.

I think the Mask has some common traits regardless of who wears it (everyone gets a middle part lmao) but I think the style of the face tattoos should shift for the person.

Warriors: I tried to emulate some of the Celtic-knot-adjacent details in his outfit and yes he keeps the scarf

Wild: I leaned into Zonai elements cause what a flawless aesthetic

Wind: His markings are related to King of Red Lion’s teeth

Legend: Definitely could wear the mask, too smart to actually put it on

Additional note: when I say “cannot wear” I mean that they cannot use the powers of Fierce Deity. The mask is just a mask if they try to wear it.

Minish Meeting

Written for @legendoflinkficfight for @rebornofstars’s prompt: Link takes Zelda to meet the Minish!

The transformation is harder without Ezlo, and that always makes Link's heart ache. Today, the ache is quickly overcome by excitement. Link rolls out of the stump and lands on his feet with his hands on his hips-he wants to show off, and who would blame him. This is Zelda's first time seeing the Minish! He has to make it special!

Zelda leans down with her magnifying glass and gasps in awe. "You're tiny! And adorable!"

Link blushes. "Wait here!"

He scampers off to find the closest Minish. Convincing them to reveal themself to Zelda isn't hard.

"Any friend of yours is a friend of mine!" The minish squeals. Link is honored by their trust in him, and he vows to himself that he will never, ever break it.

Link jumps and twirls in joy, and flaps his hands—paws?—excitedly all the way back to Zelda. The minish joins in the fun, skipping and singing and laughing alongside Link.

Zelda is looking around the forest in wonder when they return. Link has to jump on her lap and tug on her dress to get her attention. "Zelda! Over here!"

The minish is hiding behind a mushroom. Link waves them over, then slides down Zelda's dress to hold their hand.

"It's okay," Link reassures. “This is Zelda. She's my best friend! And she's really, really good at keeping secrets."

The minish chitters approvingly and follows when Link gently tugs their hand. Zelda holds the magnifying glass above them and leans over to see.

"Hello, little one," Zelda says.

The minish waves. "Hello!"

"Oh, you're so cute. I absolutely adore your hat."

The minish trills and preens. They let go of Link's hand to hold their hat out and describe the details in the stitching. Zelda listens intently.

Out of the corner of his eye, Link sees more minish approaching curiously. Link giggles and goes to collect them. Everyone will want to meet Zelda, and he wants to make sure she loves them all.
