It's like investing in a underrated bitcoin, knownig the person that runs it is going to at some point, give you so much fucking money.

At this point, I should call myself the #1 Ralph angst provider because I swear to god, it's like crack.

side note: it leans into the whump side since some of it's... a bit fucked up. though, i don't exactly feel comfortable torturing him, but rather writing about the aftermath of said... fucked up thing. aftermath, thought process, whatver the hell comes afterwards. the usual trauma response. yadda yadda.

I don't want to make this fandom my downfall. As in, I don't wanna make it negative. Which may sound insane for ME to say, but I do mean it.

It's a major flaw of mine, how I can't just ignore the bad and instead have to complain about it all the time. I'm not going to just stop not liking something, but I need to be able to ignore it best I can.

ralph being such a hopeless romantic. wanting somebody to love him as much as he loves henry. he's never felt like somebody has, not even henry.

this isn't to say that henry *doesn't* but rather how ralph never see's it since henry doesn't exactly show it off.

i say romantic but it can also be in a platonic way too.

perhaps henry feels like ralph doesn't need him to since he thinks that ralph being such a good best friend is already enough, he doesn't need anything back. nothing. just praise and friendship.

Finally, the fans were waiting for decades!

But, god, those eyes of Ralph’s. How the sunlight peeking into the fort light up his eyes in precisely the right places. He can never resist falling for them after all this time.

Henry remembers the first few times that Ralph would gaze upon him when they were kids, that despite behaving the most horrid anybody could possible act, there was always a dazzling glint in his best friend’s eyes.

Those round, soft, doe eyes that still to this day, make him fall in love over and over again with god damn Rude Ralph.

One day, something *shifted* in Ralph. Well, at least Henry imagined so. They were such tiny notices, but somewhere in Henry's mind, he knew something was off.

For example; how Ralph started closing in on himself more than usual. How he noticed these faint lines scattering his arms. They were light, less about potentally hurting himself, but more like trying to scratch off whatever Ralph thought was on his skin.

Even any slight dare to touch Ralph did Henry detect him flinching. Course, right afterwards, Ralph tries to cover it up with stiff relaxing and a shallow smile on his face. But Henry knew it was fake, he knew it was all fake.

By now, Henry has known there's loads of ways people hurt. Sometimes it's hardly there and temporary, or sometimes it's agonizing and everlasting. Or in some rare cases, it's in the middle. Coming and going, one moment you'll be fine, the next you're reminded of the pain you wish to run away from.

I'm just loving how much their relationship has progressed from the first season to the fifth. Before, they were just strangers living under the same roof, not allowing themselves to get to know each other. But now, they're inseparable. With their own space, still fighting, but above all, present enough to help each other when they need it most. Just "I'm doing this because you're my brother" is enough.

Peter purposely giving the wrong answer to Stuck-Up Steve so Henry would get it right? Peter buying all of Henry's toys even after Henry accidentally killed the worm he was excited to see, just because he knew how important those toys were to him, and yet Henry refused to ask for the favor out of respect for his brother's space? Henry comforting his little brother after he had a outbreak at school? Peter holding his brother's hand when he was having a nightmare, waiting for him to wake up? Henry deciding to take the blame just so it wouldn't make his brother so anxious and stressed? That's genuine affection. Despite how much they say they hate each other, in fact, they don't.

I think my favorite gag from this show is when Henry breaks the fourth wall with a bombastic side eye when he's really pissed about something, it's like he looks at us and says "Do you see this shit?"
