I honestly hate interest checks in arpgs. So many people I used to chat with got kicked out and there’s just no reason to bother. I only draw for them now. No point in trying to make a community. Rocket Hideout does give you a get-out-of-not-being-kicked-out free card but I was in it BEFORE they did this. The damage has been done. The people who got kicked out only talked with me about the arpg too so there’s not much to really go off of conversation wise- i didn’t know them very well, but I enjoyed roleplaying and drawing characters but there’s just no point in even trying when people you know may just get the boot. I actively DISLIKE the staff too. I’m just doing stuff to keep my progress incase I want to come back.

also thanks for having this blog, let me get something out i’ve been stuck with in my head for a while. Not at the forefront of course, but every time I try to participate in that arpg.

activity checks are such a pain as a concept yeah. i get not wanting to have inactive members but..life happens? people get busy, they'll come back to it when they get the time if your arpg's good enough

Gotta love an active arpg where 15% of all the characters created are owned by just 5 people. Who refuse to interact with the rest of us peons in the same community.

I appreciate 15% doesn't sound like *a lot* but its at least 200-ish characters in this particular arpg.

Wolf arpg groups like DOTW and wolvesoflunarforest are toxic as fuck. I don't know how they still keep going. The staff of these groups tend to be bullies behind closed doors.

There is a wildly popular artist in dARPG that pretty openly supplies his patreons with fetishistic feral / zoo art and it kinda sickens me that he is as prolific as he is in the darpg community.

Ik dracostryx is on hiatus but its crazy how the current owner made shit up to ban me for. i asked multiple times for proof of what i was being banned (because it didn't happen and never happened), was ignored and then had my items/stryx dumped despite being told i had like 2 weeks to trade things. scummy behavior. (i can provide proof of this happening if i need to mod)

I'm interested in making my own fandom-based ARPG, what would you say makes a good one, in your opinion? I apologize if this isn't the right blog to ask. ^^"

Yeah I wouldn't say I'm the best person to ask, especially for fandom-based things - the only fandom based ARPGs I've ever been interested in have been those pokemon mystery dungeon ones, though I've ended up dropping off pretty quickly thanks to a short attention span.

I'd probably take a look through @cspraise in your shoes? See what people are saying about the arpgs they like, y'know?

Generally what I'll look for in an arpg is fair rules and exp/currency/w/e system, interesting upgrades if it's an upgradeable species, fun events, and I'll also consider how easy it is to obtain the things I want. For fandom-based I guess I'd look for how faithful it is to the source, what interesting changes you make to stand out, etc? I dunno if that helped at all but! That's my general thought process.

I actually really like Paperdemon but I use the desktop version, makes it easy to see if I've submitted something and they recently added a thing to see the amount of points my character got. My only gripe is it can be a pain to search through my inventory for something.

I want to be more active in Tokota but I like to write way more for my arpg stuff and they set the word requirements so high. Not sure how I'm supposed to write like 1.5k with such a simple prompt. It's frustrating :(

(Dracostryx) I really don't get why they had to move to Paper Demon, why not just make a Lorekeeper instead? I wouldn't even mind so much if it wasn't basically impossible to use the site on mobile without text formatting issues. It used to be my favourite group but I really just can't tolerate the Paper Demon website. Haven't checked in with the species for at least six months so I don't know how it's going... Nor do I care. Just, sad man.
