Back on the grind with the new iPad and procreate as I try to get used to them.

This is jinx braiding my hair. My hair is actually just to my thighs so it wouldn’t be this long but it’s definitely long. Because of that, and my favorite color being blue, I picked out jinx to be my main league champion to play whenever I hopped on the game with friends. Arcane has been fantastic to watch and see it progress. I’m excited for what else happens.

I showed my boyfriend this drawing and his reaction was “wow you’re do gay for jinx”, that’s not the intent! Lol. Actually it’s more like I resonate with her and as cringy as it could come off, I see my old self in this version of her. I see current me in AU Jinx. So, not gay, at most twins or reflections.

Yuletides came early this year. My mom, after me talking about wanting one for years, bought me an iPad. Specifically an iPad gen 10. If you follow me on any other social media you are most likely aware of this already. The past three nights I’ve been working on setting up the iPad and getting used to procreate (I bought the app). I didn’t realize how much of a learning curve it was going to be using the iPad and all the apps that I’ve put onto it. I’m sure I’ve watched over 100 TikTok’s, over 20 YouTube videos, and read one or two articles on how to make the most out of the iPad and what are the best apps to be using on the iPad.

Personalizing devices is always so fun and I’m still thinking of what I should name this iPad. My laptop is ‘Venom’, my Chromebook is ‘spiderman’, I think I’m goin g to name the iPad ‘Carnsge’ because it honestly is more powerful than both the Chromebook and my other computer combined (Chromebook’s don’t do much, my other laptop is a Lenovo that’s about 8 years old now).

I digress. Getting and having this iPad, Carnage, is a very big and positive change for me and I’m super excited to see that. I’m so excited to be motivated and not feel worn down because I have old tech and stuff that’s not fast enough to keep up with me. Now I do have something that will keep up with me. Two big positives is 1) quicker passed creation and more art being produced that I can post to social media, 2) the option to start commissions.

With all that being said here is my new dungeons and dragons character for the campaign I’ll be starting at the end of the month (dec’24). As you can see from the image she is a gloom stalker ranger ork. I have no idea what the real plan is but when she hits around level 5ish she can move 100 feet in one turn. Wild.

My boyfriend and I watched House of the Dragon with his parents as a way to bond. I’ve never seen Game of Thrones so this was a good start for me. It’s on of my boyfriends favorite shows. I agreed because for YEARS this was the show my mom watched but I was never allowed to watch because of nudity and many other reasons I’m sure you can figure out. So I’m using it to bond with her too and a way for she and him to bond since she doesn’t connect well with others. Always just past arms reach with a foggy glass wall between us, is how I would describe interacting with her.

I digress. I got into it! HOTD was super good, in my opinion, as someone who knows nothing about the series. I got very pulled into it, in which I made these two characters.

All I have is she was born first and they are twins. She should get the crown but it’s on its way being passed to him. Epic dual they have. I forgot the rest lol.

I suppose I’ll have to spend some more time fleshing them out.

I wanted to give a little history to this piece.

Back in 2019 I was a senior in high school. I was looking for a group to play D&D with. I didn’t find one until I was in my second semester of college. A classmate complimented my necklace and then he asked if I wanted to try D&D with his group. Little did I know that these folks would become lifetime friends and my first ever D&D character would become legendary.

“The gay adventures of Marsibil.” Was what we referenced the game as once we ended it.

Marsibil is a High Sun Elf. A Rogue Assassin multiclassed into Wizard Necromancer. Though we only made it to level 7, it still consisted of a year and a half-ish of time. In a current game that we are close to finishing is years in the future, Marsibil is lvl 20 in the alternate universe and is a npc.

(I would love to post stories in the future about that campaign.)

The most legendary thing about Marsibil is how any time she would use her bow or dual daggers she often hit a nat 20. It was so funny as a new player. Maybe the universe wanted to make sure I had a good time with these folks.

I digress. The computer this piece was drawn on died. Something broke and one day it never turned back on. It was in the middle of a semester of school right as covid hit. I *had* to buy a new laptop. With $700 I bought a new laptop and grieved over the loss files. I lost the original piece of this art. Until today!

Out of all social media SNAPCHAT sent me a “hey remember what you did back on this day?” text and it was the original file! Wasn’t even from the camera roll. I’m shocked and excited. In my pinned post is when I posted it to instagram in ‘21. I’ve been using that screenshot to show people. I’m so glad I can show the og file now. So here I am showing it to you!

Marsibil means a lot to me. Not just because she’s my first character but because she led me to some amazing people. Additionally a few years later I ended up dating the DM of the campaign (we’re still together) (it wasn’t the person who invited me to the game, that one stayed a friend).

This friend group still jokes about Marsibil. “That’s Marsibil coded.” “That character reminds me of Mars.” “Are you attempting a Marsibil?” “This song is Marsibils theme.” The comedy that has come from this character is thrilling and I want to share it with anyone to make them laugh and have a good time too. :)

Now it’s coming to almost 4 years later and we may be going back to that campaign with new friends and new characters. I hope I can make more art soon :) Otherwise I’ll have to give her an Alternative Universe.
