Felt like doing some ballpoint pen doodles, so I asked instagram what animal I should draw. As you can see, the verdict was seals~!

Of all these, the bearded seal was the most difficult. My pink pen did *not* want to lay down lightly. And then I couldn't think of a shape to put behind it...

Something different. When we tore our old house down in 2007 to put up our current house, dad salvaged some windows. He fixed two of them up and is having me paint them.

This one was his idea: Our kitty reaching for a bug of some sort flying off a tall flower. The next window will be my idea and quite different from this one~

Emil and selkie!Mary are finally finished!! I did this entirely with colored pencils, since I don’t have the right shades of blue and green in my markers. I also decided to try out using the pencils to do colored lineart and, while I’m not entirely happy with how that went, I’m overall pretty proud of how this turned out.

Now i need to do pieces with Emil and Fitzy as well as Mary and Fitzy…

And yes. That kelp was a pain in the ass to do.

Emil and selkie!Mary being underwater cuties in a kelp forest. Mary's a ribbon seal selkie, so to differentiate her from a normal seal, I gave her extra bandings on her flippers, plus her size. All selkies are bigger than their animal counterparts~

Will be inking and coloring this with traditional mediums~

This was both a challenge and a great deal of fun to do, as I normally focus on characters and then the background, but in this case, I got to do the opposite. I played around and learned how to use a bunch of new brushes, I got to toy around with layer effects, and I learned that I need to better organize my layers when there's 50+ of them LOL

Tiny Thranduil and Tiny Maereth are probably one of my favorite parts, though, just because of Tiny. But the greenhouse is definitely another favorite; that took some finagling to look right.

Since I have the approval to begin inking+coloring, I can now post the WIP sketch of the piece @sotwk has commissioned me to do~! Thranduil and Maereth's home before corruption seeped into the Greenwood and forced the realm to go below ground for safety~

The final version will include the big ol' oak tree up front; I just wanted to show off that castle ;D

So I spent yesterday + today reading through my old Mulan fanfic trilogy, which I call Zhu's Tale. No idea why, but man. I had somethin' good going on there. Too bad burnout hit me so bad for it, I never finished it.

But after reading it, I felt like going through my old fanart folder for it and now I'm going to subject ya'll to it as well.

Here are the covers for the trilogy's three parts: You can see how much Zhu's design changed between Daughter of Death and Daughter of Rebirth--I made her look waaay more like her uncle, Shan Yu. She also got about a foot taller and broader....

Middle is what was endgame, though: Ling x Mulan x Zhu. And then a sketch from Zhu's teen years, with Roua, Rouga, and Mundzuc cheering her on as she practices her wrestling.

After 25 hours...the Dullahan highwaywoman and her beloved Bess are finished just in time for Valentine's Day~! This is a redo of a piece I did back in 2016, loosely based off the poem 'The Highwayman' by Alfred Noyes, but I was first introduced to it by way of Loreena McKennit's lovely rendition of it. These two get a happier ending than the folks in the poem, though.

More Fourth Wing brainrot. Sorry not sorry.

Maddie had plans to join the healers' quadrant, but due to a father who despised her, at the last minute, she was forced to join the riders' quadrant. Not very good for a cadet who's 4'5'' and who really doesn't know how to fight. People love it when she's on breakfast duty, though, because she actually knows how to cook and makes good food.

She manages to survive well enough to make friends and eventually lives through Threshing, where she bonds with Gwyndd. She and Liam are also an item. Through the joys of AU roleplays, she nearly burns herself out saving Deigh (and, as a result, Liam as well).

Anyway. Not sure if I'll do more FW oc stuff, but depending on roleplay shenanigans, I might one day draw Emil and Maddie hanging out with my friend's two FW ocs.

Hi. Yes. I have Fourth Wing brainrot and since I already drew Maddie as a rider, I figured I'd draw Emil as one, too...only, it turned into a whole sheet plus her dragon, Jeaic. I suppose it's mildly spoilery, but I don't get anywhere near enough viewers for it to matter.

Anyway. Emil’s mum was part of the Tyrrish rebellion, having been a key part of stealing goods from Navarre and sending them to Poromiel while her dad (who was not married to their mum, and is still alive) was key to keeping communications with certain islands…anyway. Emil doesn’t like her own squad much, given that most of them hate Marked Ones, so she sit with Ridoc’s squad for breakfast, which is how they meet. And yes, they eventually become an item.

Now to do a proper sheet for Maddie…

So, I told myself I would never do fanart for Fourth Wing due to a variety of reasons, but...I saw one too many AI-generated whitewashed fan'arts' of second-best boy Ridoc Gamlyn and got pissed off.

He is only second best because Liam Mairi is first best boy.

The troll siblings are finally finished xAx

It doesn't quite look how I pictured in my head and I somewhat regret putting Ormr smack in the middle, given how fuckin' pale he is compared to his siblings, but I'm pretty proud of it regardless. I've been working on this thing since October, though most of the work was done in late December. The only reason I stopped working on this was because there were just too many layers of color to allow any more color to be put down.

Materials used were: Sepia strathmore sketchbook paper (also have regrets about that but oh well); Prismacolor pencils; derwent graphitint, watercolor, and tinted charcoal pencils; brown sakura fineliners; rubbing alcohol.

My 2024 art in review thingie.

2024 has not been the kindest to me, as it's given me a bad case of burnout in basically all aspects of my life (or maybe the burnout of the last few years just finally caught up and became Ultra Burnout?) but I did get to do some experimenting with ballpoint pens, oil pastels, and procreate.

I also opened up commissions and took on my first one back in October.

So here's to hoping 2025 is better, at least in regards to art and commissions.

WIP of Thora with her brothers brewing a large batch of some sort of medicinal potion~

Left to right (and, oddly, youngest to oldest): Thora, Sindri, Ormr, and Ulfr. Ulfr and Sindri are mostly there for moral support and fire tending, as Thora and Ormr are the ones who are best at medicines and potions.
