Personally, this song and Craig Mack isn’t one of my favorite artist or albums, but as far as hip-hop goes, he deserves respect. And honestly, I’m surprised most hip-hop songs from the 90s didn’t chart that high. But besides that I do like the song, it’s just not one of my favorites..

Project: Funk da World is the debut studio album by rapper Craig Mack, released in 1994.[1][2] The album was the second release on Bad Boy Records, following the Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready to Die by one week.[3] Propelled by the success of the platinum RIAA-selling hit single “Flava in Ya Ear,” the album reached gold-RIAA sales status on February 22, 1995. “Flava in Ya Ear” also featured a successful remix (not included on the album), featuring guest verses from the Notorious B.I.G., Busta Rhymes, Rampage and LL Cool J.[4] The album’s second single, “Get Down,” was the rapper’s second top 40 hit in 1994 and achieved gold sales status in the United States in April 1995.
Though commercially successful and acclaimed at the time of its release, the album was overshadowed by the massive success of Ready to Die, and Craig Mack quickly lost public image, releasing only one other album, the commercially unsuccessful Operation: Get Down, in 1997.

Upon doing research for the song I discovered that Jay Z says he is embarrassed for these lyrics. But personally as an adult now this, it’s even harder than it did as a kid. I’m in the fact that I was less than 10 years old, running around singing, this explains a lot now. Personally, definitely up there with one of the greatest hip-hop songs, but not one of the most lyrical or hip-hop songs there is. Surprise that I didn’t go number one.

“Big Pimpin’” was the fifth and final single from Jay-Z’s fourth studio album Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter. The track is an ode to the “pimping” lifestyle, that is, sex with girls without becoming emotionally attached to them.
Produced by Timbaland, it is notable as one of the first songs where Southern rap truly broke into the mainstream with the appearance of Texas natives Bun B and Pimp C, known together as the Underground Kingz (UGK).
The track is one of Jay-Z’s most successful singles, peaking at #18 on the Billboard ‘Hot 100’ and spending twenty weeks on the chart. It ranked at #467 on Rolling Stone’s list of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time”. In 2004 the track had a chart resurgence when it featured on Jay and Linkin Park’s Collision Course mash-up album.
Despite the song’s huge commercial success, Hov nowadays seems to be embarrassed by the song. In his memoir, Decoded, he disavowed “Big Pimpin’” and its lyrical content:

The first time I heard this song my older cousins older cousin came up from Texas. I do really want to say it was 2004 before the music video came out. Only because I remember him saying how he was going to be the next big thing at a Texas. And he eventually did, but what’s ironic about the DEF jam icon video game is I was so excited to play it back then & and honestly I don’t care what anyone says. I like all of the DEF jam games..
The single became Jones’ most successful single to date, peaking at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single became a success on both the Hot Rap Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts where it peaked at #6 and 15 respectively, while becoming a moderate hit on the Pop 100 chart where it peaked at number 45. The song was also a moderate success on the Hot Digital Songs chart, where it peaked at number 26 and eventually went Platinum, becoming Jones’ second platinum single.

Whether you were a kid, an adult, or a baby. These songs really inspired the next generation of artist. And even to this day, new generations, get the same inspiration from these songs as we do. I personally like Juelz Santana better. But Dipset literally had all of us running around an oversize jerseys.
“Oh Boy” is a 2002 Grammy-nominated hip hop single by Cam’ron from his album Come Home with Me, and features Juelz Santana. The single was released through Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records and Cam’ron’s Diplomats Records. “Boy” is an obscure slang term for heroin.
Memphis Bleek turned this beat down, & The fable goes that Cam’Ron wasn’t feeling Jay’s verse on the “Oh Boy” remix, and hence deleted it. According to reports online, Jay Z claims that the instrumental was taken from him. But in reality, Jay, just really wanted to use it but currently wasn’t working on an album at the time and report say that apparently he’ll like a beat but a year later, when he’s actually working on an album, he won’t use the song. So with the instrumental originally being for Memphis Bleek just blaze, slowed it down a bit and it ended up like this.

From the class of 3000 show to ATLiens even back as an eight-year-old. This whole album was one of my favorites. I do remember having the CD case, but lost it somewhere along the way. And today this is definitely a song that I can play and enjoy it still. Personally from my perspective everyone at the time was wrapping completely different than this song so when this came out, it really changed the landscape of hip-hop forever.
“Roses” is the second single released from André 3000’s album, The Love Below, and the third overall single from the OutKast double album following the #1 singles “Hey Ya!” and “The Way You Move.” “Roses” is the only song on The Love Below to feature Big Boi. The song is about Caroline, a beautiful girl with an ugly attitude.
The music video is loosely based on the musical West Side Story. Andre and Big Boi are from rival high schools and come together to fight for the affection of Caroline. The single peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Hot Rap Tracks charts.
