Pete gets reminded of a time when heroes and villains existed in his world

Since the Secret Santa Tumblr event has officially been concluded, I'm super happy to share the gift I created for the lovely @artfreaksmeout. Thank you so much for giving me the excuse to write this, I am so thankful and relieved you liked it! The idea for this one came to me as a result of seeing this post made by @vegasandhishedgehog, so thanks for the brainworms, I appreciate it :3 Huge, huge, HUGE thanks to my lovely beta @wretchedamaranth without whom I wouldn't have even managed to conclude this weird, little fic. I am super grateful for your help in the form of suggestions, edits, grammar corrections and long, thorough meta discussions about our boy. It was painful, it was a blast, I wouldn't have had it any other way <3 Happy Holidays everybody! I hope 2024 is better for all of us.

...wh*n I w*s a li**le g*rl, Gr*ndm* ta*ght m* a pray*r: acc*pt the th**gs you c*nn*t ch*ng*, h*v* the c**rage to ch**ge the thi**s you c*n, and h**e the w*sd*m to kn*w the d****rence. The sound from the TV startles him. It's not loud or clear at all but, despite that, there’s something recognizable about the words, like he's heard them before. Like he's spent a lot of time hearing them on repeat, memorizing them.

He blinks and stares at the small screen, movements and colors blending together, making the final image an incomprehensible mess. The rest of his surroundings aren't any better either; everything is fuzzy, like he's seeing it through a filter, but it doesn't matter because the familiarity of the room makes it easy for him to understand where he is.

It's the place he used to live in, a long time ago. It's the place he hasn't been to in years.

Hey there, I'm the lucky person who will gift you your Secret Santa fic :3 From my understanding, you really like Pete, since you made art for a Pete-centric fic for the Big Bang event a couple of weeks ago. Would you like a fic that's centered around him and specifically, touching upon his past a little in regards to his love for superheroes and his friends? It won't be that straight forward but I plan on making it a mix of fluff, hurt and comfort in the end. I would love to know your opinion. Hope you're having a great day <3

Omg!! Hi!!! I actually just really love Both Pete and Vegas equally. I think they are both really interesting characters but I do really enjoy Pete centric fics because I enjoy his perspective on morals and people (especially on Vegas).
