Kim really told Alan "Stop putting other people's happiness ahead of your own, and stop keeping all your pain inside... Or you'll end up like Kenta."

Kim really said "I see you, and the reason you're miserable isn't because you deserve it, it's because you don't think you deserve to be happy, so you don't reach for happiness," with full sincerity. Casual as you please, before breakfast, even.

But he did it with the distraction of Alan and Alan's problems, so the focus wasn't all on Kenta. He's letting Kenta know that he deserves happiness, if he'll stop getting in his own way -- while using Alan as an illustrative example (and still being a great friend to Alan! Because our Kimberly is the real deal!)

Anyways, I'm going to go stand in traffic about them.

*Also, I really love that Alan went to Kim to bitch about X Hunter being a mess. He knew Kim wasn't going to come back, but he needed a friend, and you can't go to your kids to complain about your other kids, so he went to Kim, because he's the only other reasonable adult be knows that will let him whine, but won't let him be defeatist. I love their friendship.

Regardless of everything else that happened in this episode, my favourite part was still Alan coming to Kim’s place to vent and receive sage wisdom from the resident Sensible Guy and Kim going, “don’t bottle stuff up, you’ll end up like Kenta!” And Kenta’s like

btw. kim didn't simply say "you're bottling up too much. be careful or you'll end up like kenta."

he said it right after he said "you care about everyone so much you forgot your own happiness". right after witnessing and observing kenta take care of alan without a second thought.

it's not just that alan and kenta are bottling up too much - it's that they care about everyone else so much that they forgot their own happiness. both of them.

You cannot convince me that Kenta doesn't already clearly feel something for Kim. That heartbeat scene, like the drifting donut scene felt only like it was primarily Kenta's perspective. He's falling y'all.

and in case you're wondering, yes i am so incredibly normal about kenta strolling into kim's living room and leaning against the table (in a *grey* tank top!!) btw. i'm totally normal about kenta immediately supporting alan when he was in pain and helping him sit down. i'm very normal about the casual light-hearted way kim speaks to kenta now. thank you for asking.

Kenta being protected for the first time (someone actually put in the work to keep him safe?) and Kim checking in on him because he knows Kenta now and knows that he's another member of the Self-Sacrificing Posse that makes up most of X-Hunter. And he's grown attached to this one, this repressed man in black who loves someone who barely seems to care about him but also looks at Kim with those eyes and shares food at his table.

What if after Kim and Kenta sleep together for the first time, Kenta gets out of the bed and starts to put his clothes back on and Kim asks “What are you doing?” And Kenta, confused, says “Letting you sleep…” What if Kim looks at him for a moment then says “I don’t want to sleep alone. I want to sleep next to you.” and Kenta says “You do?” What if Kim crosses over to his side of the bed, gently pulls his t-shirt off and says “Come back to bed.” And Kenta has heard the words “Come back” before but they were always barked at him, the way you yell at a dog to remind it of its place, and he didn’t know those words could sound soft and safe. He didn’t know “Come back” could sound like “You’re home”. What if.

The real question burning in my mind is how did Kim pin down Kenta on the table?

Like I had a suspicion that Kim is stronger than he looks. He easily kicks Winner's ass a couple times in s1 and Winner is bigger than Kim too.

I know Ken has all those big fabulous muscles but is Kim stronger than he is???? That's my burning question.

Or does Kenta just allow himself to be pinned? Like it looks like Kenta is resisting until Kim kisses him.
