This Season almost end

So, this season almost end. A lot of good anime. ｡ﾟ(ﾟ´Д｀ﾟ)ﾟ｡ but at least EschatoLogy and Mekakushidan will begin. (｀・ω・´) So, today I have watch... Noragami, eventhough you made Hiki look like a little bitc* (she is my favorite character only second to Yato) but at least the animation's good so I forgive you. Buddy complex. Hi there anon!

You’re my first customer it seems :3 I’m really flattered that you like to hear my opinions so I won’t disappoint! But of course, if we’re talking about Hamatora, we just HAVE to talk about its theme of inequality, it’s the best thing ever! 

If you don’t mind I’m going to be using some of the events presented in Ep 11 so a little spoiler alert for those who haven’t watched it yet!

First, I’ve always been interested in its theme of inequality with minimum holders vs non and I love how in the end it boils down to the “weak vs. strong” , the same concept that’s been part of human construct for years. Contrary to what Takahiro’s mother believed, it was never even about the existence of minimum holders. 

It was all about one’s own ego.

In previous episodes, the author presents to the readers a concept of inequality. However, this episodes states that this whole issue, is based on a person’s desire to compare themselves to others, to society. 

Even if everyone was a minimum holder there would still be no equality because people are fixated on this mindset of comparison. In their eyes, unless they are accepted by a vague definition of “strong” in society, they will never be happy. To breed this concept, the “strong” rub in their strength to the “weak”, the weak affirms it. Similar to what Moral said, the strong have the “right” to make that comparison, not because they are right, because society puts them on a pedestal for being right. If society didn’t create this construction then perhaps things would truly be equal. However the reality is that in any world, things are unfair. 

So Hamatora then presents ways people cope with this inequality. Here, there are two main ways: escape, or struggle.

Those who escape are portrayed as relying on drugs to forget about their troubles, living in alternate realities where they are free. They are also the internet haters, looking down on others to elevate their wounded egos, and those who fixate themselves on how minimum holders are the source of everything that’s gone wrong in their lives. As Moral stated, they are those who “don’t deserve to be saved, masking themselves in a veil of egoism because they cannot even accept their own weaknesses.” 

To some extent this is true, but Nice still went to help save Takahiro’s mother because the possibility for change is not so rigid like Moral’s beliefs. In fact, Nice’s ideals favor the struggling type, those like Takahiro who change from the escape type, to become people who empower themselves.

The thing is Takahiro is a wonderful character that represents both categories as well as Nice and Moral’s beliefs. He started out similar to the escape group, thinking that if he had power like minimum holders he would be stronger, boosting his ego. But after he did, he realized he wasn’t strong at all. He became strong to try to get his mother to approve of her, he did it for her expectations. He constantly compared himself to the minimum holders, the people who he thought had her attention. But what really changed him, got Nice to call him “cool!” is when he felt that it didn’t matter, whether his mother’s expectations, the reason he did all this mattered. Even if she would hate him, he turned into a “monster”, became grotesque to society because he wanted to do what he truly longer for—he just wanted to protect her.

That, according to Nice, is being strong, struggling against not the “strong” but the societal concept of “strong vs. weak” as a whole. Do not worry about those around you. Just do what you want to do. You are your own being, don’t pull yourself down because of others.

That, I believe is the moral of Hamatora.

Here’s mine (Also include a few crazy self-talk and ideas):

Hamatora Art treated Nice like he was a little kid. Treating him sweets and dealing him like dealing a kid with temper tantrum. Eventhough Nice totally didn't like that. Not one bit. (end of headcanon)

Brain: psst remember Art used to have little brother?

Brain: (whisper) Nice wore his lil-bro's vest.

Me: Please no...

Brain: Art saw Nice as otouto-kun~

Me: Godf*kingdamnit!!!

Crazy ideas began here (don't blame me, my fantasy is uncontrollable): 

Art saw his little brother in Nice. He tried to stop it, but it's getting difficult not to.

Nice wore his little brother's vest because he and otouto-kun used to be so close and Nice felt responsible for his death, it was a reminder of his past fault and as his punishment or he wore that so he didn't repeat the same mistake (reminding him constantly). Either that or he wanted to be otouto-kun's replacement, living his live to the fullest because otouto-kun couldn't do it. Nice acted like him and be the happy-go-lucky boy like otouto-kun eventhough he used to be a quite boy and a loner. Nice knew deep inside that he can't be otouto-kun's replacement because nobody can replace another person, each person is special and unique. Nice wasn't that stupid. but still

Scene: They were eating together at the cafe near the beach. Art spot a cake frosting on Nice's cheek and he used his handkerchief to wipe it while smiling in mirth at Nice's antics. Nice held Art's hand in place and didn't let it go. "Stop treating me like a little kid, Art." The way he said his name held a certain weight in it. Art stiffened. He felt the energy to keep his face neutral escaped him. Nice's eyes was smoldering with...something. Something. Something which he couldn't quite pin point but it left uncomfortable feeling in the pit of his stomach. "N.." he gulped and cleared his throat. Art tried it again. "Nice." Good, his voice came out natural or as natural as he could. "Nice, what are you talking about?" "You knew what I'm talking about." This was bad, Art's mind alerted him. He didn't actually knew which part was bad but his mind had been telling him to get away from this place, this atmosphere, this. "I'll pay the bill." Art had standing up. Cowardice act, he knew. But right now he lacked the resolution to conform it. later. later.

"Chasing the shadow." After the black cosmos and Moral incident, Nice disappear. Art passed a person who looked like Nice on the busy street but he didn't know whether that was Nice or his mind just playing trick with him. "Nice, you're there, aren't you? Somewhere in this world." As long as he was alive, it was enough for Art.

Fic Idea

Spoilers to the entire Valvrave series (or just the first episode in season one and the last episode in season two), Hamatora episode 7, and Buddy complex episode 1. 

For the Infinite Universe and Possibilities

  This universe wasn’t that bad. Their first meeting had been...interesting. He just talked about sharing the court in half with his childhood friend and ‘that person’ just butted in, saying that happiness couldn’t be shared in half and all that jazz. Truthfully, he didn’t exactly agree but at least it was a good start. Just a normal school life, yep, good start.

Scratch that, it was a bad start.

‘That person’ had stabbed him with a knife right at his heart. A knife wasn’t enough too, he added it by shooting him, multiple time. That bastard. Thankfully in this universe he was an immortal vampire robot pilot.

......

That actually sounded a little silly.

Their relationship was a give and take one. Despite ‘that person’ kept insisting that sharing in half was ridiculous, they unconsciously did it anyway. Sharing in half. In many ways.

They win, probably. He wouldn’t last to see the end of it.

Along with memories which slipping through his hand like sand, his life force also dimmed out. With his last strength he managed to pull back the last memories before it completely escaped him and punched ‘that person’ weakly. Heh, finally it hit, serve...you...right...

In the next universe he met ‘that person’ earlier in his childhood. They managed to be a proper friend this time. A normal one. As normal as ones with super power could manage. Well, ‘that person’ didn’t have a super power but capable to secure a high position in the police force even among all odds. That was quite admirable actually.

Eating cakes together, visiting a new pancake shop, Even though he had the job which automatically invited trouble (to solve it) and ‘that person’ was a busy police officer, he would like to say that their friendship was as good as he could wish.

It was bad luck. That was the only answer he had managed to come up with. He died fist in the previous universe and so in this one it was ‘that person’ turn to die first. Why couldn’t they stay together until old? Just spend their life peacefully? Why? He was starting to get tired.

Another universe. Another life.

He was already a high school student but ‘that person’ still hadn’t appeared. It’s still alright since he was sure ‘that person’ would pop up in his life sooner or later. Because their fate were always, in every single universe, interconnected.

Maybe he just needed to focus less on ‘that person’ outer appearance. Perhaps ‘that person’ was really the transfer student girl with purple eyes and black long hair. If that was the case then whoa dude. He too had kind of different outlook from the previous universe but he still retained his brown hair, and still male, which was good. He liked brown hair. And being male.

So it was another robot-pilot universe.

The transfer student disappeared when they got sucked in that vortex. He started to get worried. He had his suspicious that the transfer student was ‘that person’ but something feel...off. Strange.

Maybe she wasn’t ‘that person’.

He needed to meet her again. If she really was ‘that person’ he would know it once their relationship was close enough. Bond was very important after all. First thing first, he needed to find the person that the transfer student mentioned before. She said this person was waiting for him. Waiting...His heart ached a little at that word. Who’s waiting for him? Who?

So the transfer student wasn’t ‘that person’.

He hoped this time, in this universe, none of them died too soon. ‘That person’ and him. This time together. Stayed.

Dammit! He thought he hit the perfect universe. The next one better be good. Godammit!

I actually think it's ironic because in Valvrave anime L-elf stab and then shoot Haruto multiple times and then his counterpart in Hamatora anime (Art) get stabbed and then shot multiple times too. Karma?

And I have no hope for Buddy Complex. It's sunrise....come on...the main character in sunrise tend to die (okay, maybe lelouch isn't exactly dead but still...)
