I recently came across the Montreal-based literary journal, Yolk. Editor-in-chief, Josh Quirion, and Managing Editor, Curtis John McRae, have put together a strong collection of work, and I've enjoyed reading the latest issue. They also have an interview section, ARS POETICA, and I listened to the interview they did with Mikhail Iossel, where he speaks about his life as an underground writer in the USSR, among other things. Well worth the listen.

A Monthly Look at the Arts - 03/22
Where I look at the work of photojournalist Lynsey Addario, artist Garo Hakimian, photographer Mika Goodfriend, and a quick peek at the pages of Yolk, a literary journal, specifically, at a poem called "VENDÔME" by Jerome Ramcharitar, and an interview they did with Mikhail Iossel.

First review in for LOVE, GUNS & GOD IN AMERICA.
Firenze Books, June/22.
"Ultimately, LOVE, GUNS & GOD IN AMERICA is a study in reality, adversity, shifting perspectives, and the courage to change. Its literary inspection of the American milieu will especially appeal to readers of contemporary American literature, both modern and experimental, who will find in these observations nuggets of insights for surviving modern times." - Midwest Book Review15Mikhail Iossel, Nathalie Guilbeault and 13 others2 CommentsLikeCommentShare2

"Twitter, after all, is the place to find all the worst conversations about what art ought to be."
- Jessa Crispin, observations, and asking good questions...
"The more interesting question isn’t who is allowed entry into this canonized space but what new ideas and forms are being allowed to proliferate and grow beyond its walls. Behind every genius is a group of crazy supporters and admirers and socialites making sure the artist is getting fed, read, inspired, and circulated. Whether we have any writers and artists capable of genius now is unclear; we won’t find out until we reestablish the communities that allow us to see them."

MyArtWorld - 01/22
In poetry, there is always, Cynthia Atkins.
I loved her book, STILL-LIFE WITH GOD.
This is classic Atkins ... "There's a reaper in the stairwell, listening at the doors, key-holing all the despair."

One of those nights ...
Handbags at night, hanging, whispering in the dark, of the stories they hold; forgotten ones, remembered, and are there others there, still, lingering, and will it hold? Will they stay there? Or do they wander the long quiet dark halls of time at night, like I do? Will we meet there, upon creaky floorboards, and will I recognize you, yet? These forgotten secrets of handbags, whispered in the dark. And what am I to do with that? Speak your truth to me.
