Tartaglia, Childe, Ajax or whatever name he decided to go by that day trailed behind you as your nose was buried in an ancient tome Kunikuzushi had brought back to you a week ago. You knew that if you didn’t come to him with at least 10 pages of a deep dive into the intricacies of the writing and a summary, you’d face his absolute wrath (which usually just lasts a day in your case) so you couldn’t afford to pay attention to your junior at the moment.

“I told you to call me by title, Tartaglia. I would beat that rule into your head once more if I didn’t know how much you’d enjoy that.”

He gave you a dopey smile in response, “Sure, lil bud~”

You sighed.

A peck. Just a little off from the center of his lips but contact was made nonetheless. For but the briefest of moments, you let your thorns dull and give him a chance to witness you at a full bloom.

And then you leave, rose petals scattered through the air and fade into nothingness. Your form nowhere to be seen.

The man you left behind in a daze that lasted at least a week. Just enough time for you to write a comprehensive review on that dusty book.

BACK TO SCHOOL STUDY LIKE + INSPO W/ GENSHIN [ I ]

The best study partner would most likely be the Sumeru characters, surprise surprise.

The worst would be Kaveh. Poor dude will try his best to help you but end up giving you wrong info, messing with your notes, or stressing himself out instead.

The best would be Cyno. Point blank. He can read your emotions incredibly well, and knows when to pressure or relax you. If you happen to hate his jokes and explanations thereof, he’ll utilize those to keep your head in the game. He mostly quizzes you but if he you happen to catch him on vacation then he’ll be there to write and organize notes for you.

Next to him would be Tighnari. He’s a lot more softer but can cut you with words if you happen to get distracted. You may even touch his tail and ears if you manage to meet or exceed his expectations.

Nahida is on his level. If she especially cares about you, I’m sorry but you ain’t getting her to use telepathy to cheat. Rest assured she’ll make sure you pass at the very least though. She has the cutest, bubbly handwriting and always leaves a doodle or message wishing you good luck.

Faruzan is also in the same tier but with added old lady ramblings. I headcannon her to be a lot like Bachiko Barbatos in the case that she’ll be loud and haughty af, and might even order you around. But you’re guaranteed to be the top of your class one way or another. Especially if you study in the same area as she does.

I’m putting Al-Haitham and Collei lower because the former would most likely help you but with a lot more cheek and sass that if you’re impatient might not work out, and Collei is not as well-versed in her own field as the people above are.

Al-Haitham would leave random posts its around where you frequent as if he doesn’t care about how you do when this man is invested. You do not want to know how he got into your shower and you should never mention it unless you want his help to completely disappear.

Dori would just help you cheat with the right amount of mora. Heck, she’ll plant some people in the exam room or even steal the answer sheet for you.

But it was too much. You see, you first met your boyfriend a bit later in life. As such, you never saw his fantastic hairdo back when he was little. It was as if he styled it so it’d impale once he headbutted them.

Even so, Scaramouche could not help but view it as an vile monster. How would anything else brutally seize someone as magnificent as you from him?

His hands held unto yours so tight and desperate that if you could feel anymore it’d hurt.

“Shut up!” He yelled. Yet his eyes were never filled with anger.

And so you continued, “I promised. . .”

“I said shut up!” He was sure that talking in your state was hell. So why did you keep going on and on. Why were you always so stubborn?

“I promised to be different—“ Ah. It was because you were stubborn that he loved you so much. It was because of you persistent nature that you decimated the walls around his heart. Accepted him as who he was. “different from all those who hurt you but I…”

The light began to fade away from your eyes. You wanted to look away because you knew the image of your death will haunt him for as long as he lived. But his grip on you never loosened. “But I couldn’t keep it.”

And it was because of him. His stubborn memories that forced him to push people away — that in your final moments, all you could say weren’t the words ‘I love you’, but strings of apologies and regret instead. Him, the discarded puppet, was never worthy of you love. It was all his fault and yet —

“I’m sorry.”

even as you leave him to a paradise he not once can get to, even if it was not by your own choice, even as you spent the last of your life to beg for his absolution
