I am from the dusty, down trodden streets of Anytown, USA, the ashes of a ruined relationship, the family that reeked of mental illness, and nine-to-five alcoholism that was always swept under the rug. It’s ok to beat your wife and kids as long as you pay for the house they live in. I am from the oppressive religious cult know as Christianity, raised and abused by Jesus Christ himself, taught to fear the unknown and question nothing while conforming to insignificant dogmatic principles. What's with all the unfair gender politics I've been witnessing lately?

It is 2013, and I, for one, still witness the gender battle being fought. Currently, I am in the process of writing and recording with a band. I sing in the band. I am the "face", if you will, of the band.I am tired of reading and hearing the same question being asked to women who want to rock; "So, what's it like being a woman in (insert hardcore scene here)?".

Are you fucking kidding me? I am a woman everyday, not just when I am in a band.  As long as questions like that are being asked, the same misogynistic undertone will be running the show. It's hard enough to find members for a band influenced by Riot Grrl and the Sword without people thinking I'm nuts (I am)

Just so we're clear-because I know some asshole is going to read this- I'm not a feminist because I hate men. I am a feminist because women deserve equality in all parts of life.

Fuck the patriarchy. Don't be silent.

It's just one of those days. The weather in Seattle has officially turned. It will be dark 15-18 hours per day and constantly rain until March.
