Our Previous GoFundMe Was Closed, But Our Struggle Isn't Over‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Due to circumstances beyond my control, my original GoFundMe campaign, created to support my family’s survival and recovery, was closed before we could reach our goal. We were striving to raise enough to cover rent, food, and essential needs for my wife and our beloved son, Yamen. Sadly, we fell short of our $5,000 target.

But our need hasn't vanished.

That’s why I’ve launched a new fundraiser on Chuffed, with the same humble goal of $5,000. Every cent will go toward rebuilding our lives here in Northern Gaza—a place that has seen unimaginable pain, destruction, and loss. We are not asking for luxury, only for the bare minimum that every family deserves: safety, food, a roof overhead, and a chance for our son to live with dignity.

I'm Ashraf from the war-torn Gaza. I've lived an entire life under siege in Gaza, facing relentless military actions and life-threatening conditions daily. In October 2023, the conflict escalated drastically, devastating my newly built house, my neighborhood,my workplace, and jeopardizing the lives of my family.

My wife, Ghadeer @ghadeerarqan , and I live in Gaza with our baby son Yamen. My wife gave birth to Yamen during the war, and it is all he has ever known. Yamen has spent the tenth months of his young life without a stable home, surviving a genocide.

Facing Injustice Together

In the midst of an unforgiving war, my heart aches as I watch my family suffer. My wife, my lovely child, and I are enduring a life no one should have to experience. Yet, through it all, I try my best to keep a smile on my face for my loved ones. As they say, “Like father, like son”—I wear my smile like armor, trying to shield them from the pain that surrounds us.

There is a real shortage of donations flow ‼️

For the past eight months, my wife and I have been working tirelessly to raise 20,000 euros to ensure a safer future for our family and evacuate Gaza. We've made progress, but the road ahead is still long. So far, we’ve managed to raise 59%, which, while appreciated, barely covers our daily needs amidst the high living costs here. We are in desperate need of support to make this dream a reality.

Our 10-month-old son, Yamen, was born just three months after the war began. He has never known a peaceful day in his short life. The rising cost of basic necessities has reached levels that are beyond comprehension.‼️‼️

Families are facing an economic crisis like never before, and the numbers speak for themselves. Here are some of the staggering price hikes we are dealing with:

A box of Pampers now costs 100 euros.‼️

A carton of milk has surged to 30 euros.‼️

A bag of flour is now priced at 100 euros.‼️

Prices for fruits and vegetables have skyrocketed, with some items costing over 100 times their normal price.‼️

These price increases are not just numbers on a receipt; they are the daily struggles that families, especially those displaced by conflict or crisis like us, are facing. This isn’t just inflation—it’s a crisis that’s pushing families to the edge. 😔

In a world where basic goods have become luxuries, families are being forced to make impossible choices. How can we protect our children when even the most basic items are out of reach ⁉️ The suffering continues, and yet, it seems as if no one is paying attention‼️

Ashraff @ashraffamilynew and Ghadeer @ghadeerarqan live in Ghazzah with their baby son Yamen. Ghadeer gave birth to Yamen during the war, and it is all he has ever known. Yamen has spent the nine months of his young life without a stable home, surviving a genocide.

When the war began Ashraff and Ghadeer's home, neighborhood, and workplace were all destroyed. Their security, peace, and happy lives were cruelly ripped from their hands.

Now, Ashraff and Ghadeer fear for the life and future of their son. They want Yamen to have a happy and safe life, as all children should, free from hunger, cold, and pain. However, basic necessities like food, shelter, diapers, and medical care are extremely expensive and difficult to find in Ghazzah right now.

Ashraff and Ghadeer have been fundraising since April, but they are still only about halfway to their goal! They initially wanted to raise money to evacuate, but with the crossing closed, they instead need these funds to stay alive and care for their son.

Currently, they need money to pay rent for the room they are currently staying in, a tent in case they recieve an evacuation order and have to leave immediately, and milk and diapers for Yamen.

I would do anything—anything—to give him a life free from this violence, this pain. But how can I protect him from a world that refuses to see his suffering? No child should have to live like this. No child should have to grow up in fear. We need the world to hear us. We need your help.

No gas. No electricity. It's just the cold, empty space where a stove should be.

Another side of this war

It's a cruel irony that the war, which has already taken so much from us, has also taken away the warmth of a home-cooked meal. We are forced to rely on makeshift methods, the flickering flame of a makeshift stove fueled by wood or charcoal, a testament to our resilience, and our determination to survive.

The wood crackles and pops, spitting sparks that dance like fireflies in the gloom. It's a dance of desperation, a desperate attempt to coax warmth and nourishment from the ashes of our former lives. Each meal is a battle, a struggle against the elements, the hunger, and the uncertainty of the future.

We boil water in rusty pots over open fires, the smoke stinging our eyes, the fumes filling our lungs. We bake bread in makeshift ovens built from clay and debris, the aroma of baking dough a faint reminder of better days.

But even with these meager resources, we persevere. We cook, we eat, we share. We find solace in the act of preparing a meal, a reminder that even in the face of adversity, life continues. Yet, the weariness lingers, the weight of the war pressing down on us like a heavy cloak. We yearn for the simple normalcy of turning on a stove, of cooking a meal without the fear of smoke inhalation, of the comforting hum of a refrigerator.

The war may have taken away our electricity and gas, but it has not taken away our spirit. We will continue to cook, to eat, to survive.

We will continue to fight for our right to a life of peace, of prosperity, of simple joys. And when the darkness finally lifts, when the smoke clears and the city breathes again, we will remember the lessons we learned in the shadows.

We will remember the strength we found in adversity, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring power of a simple, home-cooked meal.
