So wait if Fabia isn't adopted, and assuming she and Lucia aren't twins, does that mean Fabia has a different father than Lucia, and they just never knew? Or did something happen (like a birth defect or an illness) that caused Fabia to be different from the rest of her family?

Fabia: Well, I faintly remember the day my mama introduced me to papa, or at least what mama told me to call him. Othello Vargas, the mafia boss in Venice. I don’t know much about how mama got involved with him but I remember walking into a new house and mama telling me it’s my new home.

“Papa” was never nice to me, I wasn’t her daughter. Nonna was never nice to me either, I wasn’t her perfect granddaughter like Lucia was. I was different, il Tedesco is what they called me. A white blonde haired little girl in a family of tan and brown haired people. I never knew why I was so different from my family or why only my mama cared for me.

I don’t know who my real father was, mama never told me about who he was or anything about her past. It didn’t come into my attention that I wasn’t really the daughter of my father until I got curious enough to search, and found my own birth certificate. No one ever said anything, and I’m certain Imelda and Lucia don’t know I’m not truly the daughter of my father. I’d rather not tell Lucia anything.....
