Gilbert froze in place when he heard the voice, recognizing it immediately. He motioned for Alfred - who was hidden beneath a cloak - to continue walking, turning to face the General in the same motion so it was unnoticeable that they had been walking together. He took a deep breath, forcing a smile as he tried to ignore the stares he got from being singled out.

Gilbert glanced over his shoulder, though in the opposite direction of where Alfred had gone. He knew there was a tavern in the direction he was looking. He cleared his throat, adjusting his coat. “It’s been lovely to see you again, but I really must be going.”

Have you found more business for my father?” He tried to change the subject, waving off his choice of dress. He could tell Remus was getting suspicious, which was the last thing he wanted. Gilbert kept an aura of calm, though he was panicking on the inside. He knew better than to show any weakness in front of the devil in front of him. He noticed Remus’s eyes move and he mentally cursed, knowing he looked nothing like he had the last time they met. But he kept his face calm, carefully choosing his words.

“Can I not enjoy a day out on the town by myself?” He adjusted his coat, making sure to flash his family’s ring. “I can see you eyeing my clothes. You are familiar with the problem I have with the sun, aren’t you?” It was hardly a secret that he couldn’t be in the sun for very long without getting sunburnt.
