What I think Lucky Day was aiming for: fake news is bad.
Where I think Lucky Day actually ended up: the secret police exist to keep you safe and you should be grateful for their efforts. They shouldn't have to justify themselves or be subject to democratic oversight. If you challenge them, you're a coward and it's only right that you should go to prison for the rest of your life.
#the more I think about it the more things I find I don't really like about the episode#not sure I like how UNIT seem to be increasingly positioned as unequivocally The Good Guys™ by the narrative#while their actual actions would seem to indicate otherwise#like...there are plenty of very valid reasons to criticise the shady vaguely military organisation with no real oversight#but maybe that's just me#idk the episode's politics seemed kind of incoherent to me#Doctor Who#Doctor Who spoilers#text posts
