(A/N: Part 6. Time for Betty to face reality and prepare to be a mother while somehow also trying to cure Simon. She'll never learn. Good thing she's not alone in this.)

♡ My AU where pretty much everything is the same as in canon except Betty is unknowingly pregnant with her and Simon’s daughter when she jumps through the portal.

Magic, Madness, Sadness, and a Baby

♡ By the time she becomes a full Wizard, Betty is already five months pregnant.

♡ She teleports from Magic Man’s house back to her tree and sits there in absolute silence as her brain tries to process everything.

♡ There was a time when this was all she wanted. This was something Simon wanted so much, too. And even if their child wasn’t going to be born under the circumstances they initially planned, it was happening. It was here, it was real, and it was the only part of Simon she had left whether she liked it or not.

♡ Normal Man goes to check on her every once in a while to make sure she’s taking care of herself and bring her supplies. Now that his MMS is gone, he’s a little more compassionate than before. He feels bad that she’s pregnant and feels so alone. He wants to be there for her in more ways than one if she’ll allow it.

♡ Betty wants him out of her sight, but she’ll still take the supplies he gives her. She has more than herself to worry about now. She can’t afford to be picky.

♡ Betty still hovers above the Ice Kingdom to watch Simon, except now she doesn't need to ride a magic carpet, anymore.

♡ She still does odd jobs for other wizards and still struggles with suicidal tendencies and risky quests. She has doubts that she’ll be a good mother, and wonders if she should just end it all to spare them both of the pain.

♡ Despite all of this, Betty has a few people to lean on for help.

♡ Finn and Jake figured out the situation when Magic Man turned them into bread. Even though they’re a little put off by her madness, they round up their friends and agree they should all be there for her. It’s what Simon would want if he were in his right mind.

♡ Even if Finn has no advice to offer her on the matter, they still bond. He has so many questions for her about human culture. His curiosity helps Betty forget all the bad things in her life for a while. He’s also. . .extremely invasive when it comes to asking questions about how a human pregnancy works.

♡ “Sooooo. . .when the little guys done growing, where does he come out of? You're belly button or something?”

“You're serious?”

“Yes. I'm using my serious face. Can't you tell?”

“The baby comes out of the vagina, Finn.”

“Out the va-where now?”

♡ Jake and Lady Rainicorn are more than happy to answer any of her questions about pregnancy or being a parent. Lady even asks if Betty wants to stay with her in her barn.

♡ Jake gives her his old camera phone so she can keep in touch with everyone.

♡ Tiny Manticore flies by every once in a while, just to talk. They would be great drinking buddies if Betty weren’t pregnant. They agree they should have drinks when she’s no longer pregnant or breastfeeding.

♡ He should open his own bar. He’d be good at it.

♡ Huntress Wizard helps keep her grounded, teaching her mindfulness and proper breathing techniques. She’s seen and helped lots of animals give birth, so she knows what she's doing. She also finds a way to recreate Magic Man’s elixir and tweak it so that it's also beneficial to the baby’s development.

♡ Marceline checks in on Betty every single day. She knows how important she is to Simon, and she was so excited to basically be gaining a little sibling! She usually comes by at night time. They visit whenever Betty's insomnia is acting up.

♡ Betty takes a break from doing favors for wizards. In her downtime, she still researches magic while continuing to explore her new abilities.

♡ After drawing up her plans to kidnap Gunter so she can hack into the Ice Crown, Betty recruits the fox colony to help her. One particular fox catches her eye, though; a vixen named Spark, who offers to be her familiar. She accepts.

♡ By the time she puts her plan into action, Betty is six months pregnant.

♡ When she kidnaps Gunter, she can immediately tell with her wizard eyes what he really is. As they wait for Ice King to give up his crown, they talk. She asks him about being an alien, how he came to be a penguin, and what Simon is like under the curse of the crown. He’s pretty wholesome for an alien hellbent on destroying everything. He thinks of the Ice King as his dad. Betty thinks it’s sweet.

♡ When he comes to rescue Gunter, Ice King is fascinated by her. Even when Betty looks like she's about to pop, he still calls her beautiful.

♡ She didn't realize how much she needed to hear that from him. It helped.

♡ Even after being rescued, Gunter still goes to visit Betty. He thinks of her as his mom, now.

♡ He'll bring her little presents for the baby. He once brought her a little stuffed penguin.

♡ Now a skilled wizard, Betty gives Spark the ability to shape shit as she pleases, in order to complete all her supply runs in any circumstance.

♡ When she's a cat, she likes kneading biscuits against Betty's baby bump. It makes them kick.

♡ Spark doesn't speak much around others besides Betty. And even when she does, she's very soft-spoken.

♡ At some point, Betty became extremely paranoid. Maybe it was just a bad case of pregnancy brain, but she doesn’t go outside her tree. And even when she does, she tries to be as stealthy as possible. She’s convinced somebody wants to hurt her or her unborn child. Spark runs errands for her during the day and keeps watch over her at night.

♡ Not being able to stand it anymore, Betty goes to the Ice Kingdom. Instead of just hovering like she usually does, she actually visits with the Ice King. Even if it still hurts to see him like this, it's just nice to hear his voice.

♡ Ice King is absolutely fascinated with Betty's pregnant belly.

♡ “What do you mean ‘there's no stork?’ Of course, there's a stork. How else would you deliver a baby?”

“. . .with a doctor?”

“Well. . .Dr. Princess was there when Gunther pushed out his egg, so. . .”

“He did what now?”

“Are you sure there's no stork? That's what my Grand-Daddy told me two-no, wait. . .One thousand years ago. . .I think. I don't really have a lot of memories before the age of a hundred.”

♡ Betty dumbed it waaaaaayyy down for him.

♡ “The. . .stork already delivered my baby. I just have to wait a little longer for them to grow inside my tummy before they're ready for me to meet them.”

“Oh, okay. That makes more sense.”

♡ Obviously, she doesn’t tell him it’s his baby. That would make things even more complicated and confusing for him.

♡ She won't let the Ice King touch her belly unless it's covered in something warm, afraid of the effects of his ice powers.

♡ On Normal Man’s weekly visit, he tells her he’s finally going to retrieve his brother from orbiting in space with the help of Tiny Manticore and become the king of Mars. He tells her his house is now hers since he won’t be needing it anymore before he offers Betty a choice; to come with him to Mars.

♡ Before she can tell him how much she hates him, how selfish he is, and how she never wants to see him again, she goes into labor six weeks too early.

♡ Normal Man is no help at all, complaining when she squeezed his hand ‘too tight.’ The only good thing he did was call everyone on her phone to tell them the news.

♡ “Are you fucking serious, dude?”

“What? It hurt.”

“YEAH?! AFTER YOU GIVE BIRTH TO SOME GROSS MARTIAN EGGS, OR HOWEVER THE FUCK YOU REPRODUCE, THEN WE’LL TALK ABOUT PAIN! YOU WANNA GO THERE, JACKASS!?”

“. . .no?”

♡ Betty kicks him out as soon as Huntress Wizard arrives.

♡ It hurt his feelings a bit. Who even knew he had feelings?? Nonetheless, they were there. He thought maybe he meant more to her than that. Apparently not. Either way, Normal Man knows better than to argue with her.

♡ Lady and Jake arrive not long after that. And for some reason, they thought it was a good idea to bring Finn along with them. He just wanted to see a human birth sooooo badly that they couldn’t tell him ‘no.’

♡ Again, he asks lots of intrusive questions while Huntress Wizard and Lady help her through the pain. Every new question or comment just ends up pissing Betty off even more. Jake has to take him outside until he agrees to behave himself.

♡ Spark stays by Betty’s side the entire time, letting her lean on her for support as she and the other ladies in the room coach her through the whole process.

♡ It’s times like these when Betty really wishes her mother was here with her.

♡ “HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO DO THIS FIVE FUCKING TIMES!!??” she asks Lady Rainicorn.

Lady says something in Korean that Betty can't understand. Jake translates for her.

“It was a litter of five puppies. And since she's fifteen feet long and quadra-pedal, it didn't take long at all.

“Greeaaat, Jake. I feel waaaaaayyy better now. . .”

♡ Finn decides to spy at the worst possible time, getting more than he bargained for when he gets a clear shot of Betty’s baby crowning. He throws up before passing out. Jake lets him lie there.

♡ After six more grueling hours of labor, Betty and Simon’s daughter finally arrives in the world of the living.

♡ She came out silent, not crying like Betty expected her to. Thankfully, Huntress Wizard and Lady use their magic to help clear her airway before it was too late for her. Betty was so frightened that she might lose her before she even got the chance to hold her. She ended up crying alongside her daughter in relief as she held her for the first time.

♡ Juniper Grace is the perfect combination of both her parents; she has her Dad’s skin tone and soft, dark brown hair, also inheriting her Mom’s emerald green eyes and freckles.

♡ After grieving the loss of her and Simon’s first child over a year ago, Betty wasn’t sure if she’d ever have another chance to be a mother, or if she’d even want that chance, again. Thankfully, she was wrong. She just wished Simon was here to share it with her.

♡ Betty had a million worries wracking around in her brain about how she was going to handle this from here on out. All she was certain of was she wasn’t going to let anything happen to her and Simon’s little treasure.

♡ Spark now guards them both as they sleep.

(A/N: Part 5. Finally, we've gotten to the events of the main show. About to get really spicy, so I hope you eat it up like I have been writing this.)

♡ My AU where pretty much everything is the same as in canon except Betty is unknowingly pregnant with her and Simon’s daughter when she jumps through the portal.

Part of the Madness

♡ Betty’s whole arrival in Ooo is such a blur for her: jumping a thousand years into the future, beating the absolute shit out of Bella Noche, and finding and losing Simon again all in one day. It's all pretty overwhelming.

♡ Also, MAGIC IS REAL?

♡ She finds refuge in Wizard City. She's gained a bit of a reputation since defeating Bella Noche and bringing magic back to those who it was stolen from. Also, Finn was the only human in Ooo up until now. So where exactly did she come from?

♡ As fascinating as this new world was, Betty had bigger problems to worry about; all her meds were back on the bathroom counter a thousand years in the past. Without them, her intrusive, and often dark thoughts returned frequently. The need for more repetition and counting was more strong. Her mood rapidly changed like a game of hot and cold. And the withdrawal symptoms hurt like hell.

♡ She takes shelter in a tall, hollow tree, not far from Wizard City. The entrance is hidden by curtains of leaves and moss. Huntress Wizard helped her find it and gave her a few things to get her settled.

♡ To get by, Betty goes on quests for lazy wizards. They're the wizards who are too weird, cowardly, or stubborn to get ingredients/artifacts for spells and whatnot. They pay her either with money, favors, magic lessons, or trade items she needs.

♡ Betty briefly crosses paths with the main cast; Finn and Jake, Marcy and Bonnie, etc.

♡ Without her meds, Betty is sometimes too adventurous and borderline suicidal whenever she goes on a quest for someone.

♡ She spends a lot of her free time in Turtle Princess’ Library, learning all she can about the history of this strange world she found herself in. Betty gets so lost amongst all the books that she sometimes spends the night or multiple nights there.

♡ Sometimes, she'll catch Simon loitering around. Betty avoids him at all costs, hiding in another room or section of the library. It's too painful to face him. She finds herself breaking down if she looks at him for too long.

♡ After being in Ooo for a month, she's close to completely going insane. Huntress Wizard mixed up an elixir for her to help her mental state when they first met. Unfortunately, it's difficult to make.

♡ She asks each wizard she works with and observes if they can help her cure Simon. Everyone turns her down, saying it's impossible. That is until Magic Man enters the scene.

♡ MAGIC MAAANN!!!

♡ He knew next to nothing about who Betty was. Of course, he had noticed her around other Ooo with other wizards and going on quests and junk. Beyond that, all he knew was what others had been saying about her through gossip.

♡ Wizards LOOOVVE to gossip, btw.

♡ Magic Man finds out for himself one day what this mysterious human is actually like. Her general demeanor and personality reminded him of Margles; she was also impulsive and stubborn. A little bit crazy, too.

♡ But when he finally gets the chance to speak with her, Betty's brain is basically attacking her; she's talking non-stop about things that don't make sense to anyone, keeps laughing every once in a while for no reason, and scratches her arms so much that they bleed.

♡ He can tell she's pregnant right away with his wizard eyes. But more on that later.

♡ Completely weirded out (which is a hard thing to do to him), Magic Man suddenly decides he needs a little character development and NOT behave like a total dingwad for once. . .at least at first.

♡ He knocks Betty out with a spell and takes him to his house, putting her in a straightjacket and chaining her ankle to the floor of his bedroom just in case she does anything to harm herself again.

♡ Understandably, she freaks out when she wakes up. Magic Man lets her wear herself out when she screams and cries for like an hour or so before coming back in. He tells Betty he'll only let her out when he's sure she's not suicidal, anymore.

♡ After she calms down, he unchains her and takes off her straightjacket before offering a shower and fresh clothes..

♡ “Why?”

“Whaddya mean ‘why?’ Because you stink, dipstick! I traced your stench from Wizard City all the way to that Glob-damned tree of yours. That's why.”

“Fuck you, man!”

“Promise?”

♡ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

♡ All the clothes he gives her were once Margles’, by the way. He thinks Betty's really cute and he’s kinda trying to get laid, okay? He's a weird fucking creeper like that. Don't act like he wouldn't do that.

♡ They spend three days together until he decides she's no longer suicidal. Magic Man plays therapist with her and teases and jokes about all her problems.

♡ When he learns about her connection to the Ice King (or is it ‘Simon’ now? He doesn't care which. He's a jerk), he agrees to help teach Betty magic. Not that he believes it's possible to cure him, although he is curious. It's fun to watch her try. And he likes having her around. My dude may be an ass hat, but he's lonely.

♡ After the three days are up, he gives her some supplies and sets her free. He even gives her a more enhanced elixir that lasts longer for half the dosage.

♡ Now that Betty has an okay lead on fixing Simon, she has hope again for the first time since arriving in Ooo.

♡ Oftentimes, Betty hovers over the Ice Kingdom and observes him. Even though it hurts, she pushes through it like she's punishing herself.

♡ She goes back to Wizard City to observe other wizards and do her own research on magic. Magic Man meets her for lessons once a day.

♡ Tiny Manticore tries to warn Betty how dangerously insane Magic Man really is. Obviously, she doesn't listen. They do become sort of acquaintances, though.

♡ After a couple weeks of teaching, Magic Man becomes a little too. . .comfortable with her.

♡ “Sooooo. . .I'm not sure if you noticed, but Ooo’s human population is in the single digits zone. But Ive read all about you and I heard you guys are. . .pretty sexual creatures.”

“What the hell is that supposed to mean??”

“It's whatever you want it to mean, Princess.”

“I’M NOT GOING TO SLEEP WITH YOU, YOU FUCKING WEIRDO!!”

“Yeah. . .we’ll see.”

♡ Even though he knows he's taking advantage of her vulnerability and her fragile state of mind, he still pursues her. He misses Margles'. Betty misses Simon. It would be beneficial for both of them to use each other in an attempt not to feel so lonely anymore. Right?

♡ Betty would be lying if she said she hadn't thought about it. She missed Simon so much. She missed being touched, too.

♡ Within a day of their last conversation, Betty experiences an intense drop in her mood. Overwhelmed by everything that she has been through lately, she turns to Magic Man in need of comfort, craving to be held and touched. He's more than glad to ‘help.’

♡ He lets her ride him before testing the waters further, pulling her hair and treating her like a ragdoll. she begs to be used, to be fucked harder and harder. It helps her forget everything bad for a while.

♡ This becomes their regular pastime.

♡ Since Magic Man’s also a total goofball, it shows during sex. Completely unprompted, as Betty’s close to cumming, he’ll wave his hands and say “Hey. Wanna see a magic trick??”

♡ He uses magic to make her orgasms more intense.

♡ Their relationship is. . .it's complicated. Let's just leave it at that.

♡ Betty's hair is a shade or two darker than the sand on Mars. It reminds Magic Man of home.

♡ Yes. Tiny Manticore can hear and occasionally see everything they're doing.

♡ He finds it hot in the beginning, just watching them like a total perv. Eventually, he gets tired and annoyed by it. They're both horny freaks, we know, but. . .how the fuck do they have that much stamina????

♡ No amount of therapy will ever make this bullshit okay.

♡ It’s no secret Magic Man is the biggest Jerk in all of Ooo. And he is just as bad in the sheets. He gets off on the power he holds over Betty, and how dependent she is on his company since she can’t be with Simon.

♡ Magic Man doesn't say anything to Betty about her unknown pregnancy until a month after they started their whole ‘friends with benefits’ dynamic when he saw her throw up for the first time.

♡ “What's the matter, Betty? Did the plague finally come back and take you as its first victim??”

“No, you asshole. It's just a stomach bug. Eating wild fruit will do that to you.”

“Yeah, sure. It could be a big. Or. . .”

“‘Or,’ what?”

“Maybe. . .you got knocked up???”

“That's. . .that's not funny.”

“Was it supposed to sound funny?? Am I laughing??”

“Nope. Nuh-uh. No way. Can't be.”

“Are you suuurre?? When's the last time Mother Nature visited and spilled red wine where the sun don't shine, Bethany???”

♡ Even though they're both irresponsible and nasty AF, they take precautions. Magic Man never finishes inside of Betty. But he's only genetically compatible with other Martians, so it doesn't matter either way.

♡ Over the next few weeks of studying magic, MMS, and fucking around with each other, Magic Man teases Betty at least once a day about being pregnant. She always brushes him off, thinking he's just messing with her like he normally does.

♡ At the same time, she can't deny that her mood swings are more intense than usual, her breasts are swelling, and she's craving odd combinations of food.

♡ Just the very thought of having a baby without Simon beside her was enough to send her into a panic attack. She couldn't be a parent if she wasn't properly medicated like she was a thousand years back in the past. What if she hurt her baby? What if she accidentally killed it? It hurt too much to think about. So, she didn't.

♡ It isn't until after she does the ritual with Magic Man to make him the king of Mars that she realizes he was telling the truth.

♡ Having MMS suddenly forced upon her, along with the overwhelming amount of knowledge of the universe now in her head didn't help. With her new Wizard eyes and awareness of her body, Betty could no longer lie to herself about what was happening to her.

♡ “LATERS!!!”

(A/N: Part 4. We're getting into heavy angst territory, so be prepared. Sorry to put you guys through heartbreak.

A Bump in the Road

♡ When they got to the Emergency Room, the nurses immediately wheeled Betty to an examination room once they saw the trail of blood behind her and Simon. But they needed him to stay behind. They needed help from the hospital security to practically pry them away from each other so they could treat her.

♡ After an hour of waiting when Betty was finally stabilized, Dr. Olson, came out to give Simon the bad news; Betty experienced a late miscarriage. But during their treatment, they had to strap her down to the bed and give her a sedative so she wouldn’t worsen her injuries.

♡ Betty’s situation was time-sensitive. She was in danger of getting an infection, so after updating Simon, Dr. Olson performed a surgical evacuation immediately.

♡ "Princess, we can have another baby. But I can't have another you."

♡ Given Betty’s medical history, a recorded suicide attempt when she was 13 years old, and how she was so distressed that they had to sedate and restrain her, Dr. Olson put her on Suicide Watch, just to be on the safe side.

♡ Up until this point, Simon didn’t know her struggles with her mental health were this severe.

♡ In the meantime, he called Betty’s mother and told her what was happening. She was at the hospital within five minutes.

♡ Alice Grof had trouble warming up to Simon from the beginning. She never liked how he stopped Betty from going on that trip to the Outback. But her daughter was happy, and that’s what mattered the most. And while their relationship wasn’t the warmest, they respected each other. She comforted Simon whilst Betty was still in surgery.

♡ Betty recovers in the hospital for five more days, drained both physically and emotionally. When she first wakes up following the procedure, she’s unresponsive, almost catatonic, and withdrawn from reality to process all the trauma of the whole situation. Simon and Alice make sure she’s never by herself during those five days.

♡ Alice stays with her daughter one day so that Simon can go to their apartment and bring some of Betty’s stuff to the hospital to help her not be as anxious during her stay.

♡ The day before they were ready to go back home, Alice offered to tidy the place up so Betty could recover in a clutter and stress-free environment. She cleaned the blood off their sheets and carpet, made everything neat, stocked their fridge and pantries with food, and made sure their bathroom had the necessary medical supplies to help the healing process. She also hid all items related to their lost baby in a trunk in their hall closet, out of sight, and waiting for whenever Simon and Betty were ready to try again.

♡ When they came back home, they took three weeks off of work so they could mourn their loss together.

♡ Betty returns to taking all her regular antidepressants and antipsychotics. They stabilize her mood and help keep her focused and ‘normal’ when she returns to work, but she’s still numb and withdrawn for a while.

♡ She visits with her mom more frequently, going over to her and her partner Suzanne’s house once a week. The visits help her in her grief.

♡ When Betty started getting her period again, her heart shattered all over again. Simon asked her mother to come over for a few days.

♡ Proceeding with caution, Simon asks her about what he discovered in the hospital. He wants to understand her past struggles with her mental health; the suicidal ideation in her childhood, the self-harm tendencies, the OCD, the ADHD, the bipolar disorder she inherited from her mother, her past of pain, all of it. He wants to know so he can fully understand how to help her if she spirals again in the future.

♡ It’s hard for her to open up about that.

♡ Betty avoids intimate and vulnerable situations with Simon for a while. He doesn’t mind at all and is willing to wait as long as she needs. The farthest she’s willing to go is cuddling with him in her underwear. Two months after coming back from the hospital, they graduate to taking showers together again.

♡ At night, Betty still holds Simon’s hand to her stomach as they sleep in bed.

♡ She can still feel their baby kicking from time to time, like experiencing phantom pain after losing a limb.

The Road to Parenthood

♡ A month after their risky Valentine's Rendezvous, Betty ends up sick with a ‘stomach bug’ that causes her to throw up after every meal for two days.

♡ It got so bad that they skipped their weekly lunch date at Captain Tasty’s. Betty had to throw up the minute they walked in and the smell wafted into her face.

♡ Simon has to convince her to let him take her to the hospital. Even when they first get there, she tries to run away from him in the parking lot. Simon caught her before she could fall from exhaustion.

♡ Betty’s doctor treated her for anemia and sent her home with pills that would help her keep down food. They also took blood and urine samples just to be on the safe side and would call her with the results within a week.

♡ When they do call Betty, they deliver her the news: she’s around eight weeks pregnant.

♡ The minute she found out, she called Simon into the bathroom to tell him

♡ “Really? You're not kidding? You’re serious right now??”

“Serious as a heart attack, Simon. You put a baby in me. . .”

♡ Sure, this wasn’t exactly how either of them pictured their lives going. Both of them were always just so caught up in their research and each other that they never really talked about kids. Maybe once or twice over the last four years that they had been together? Of course, they’d be lying if they said they hadn’t thought about having children with each other before. And both found that they wouldn’t mind at all.

♡ They both were so ecstatic that Simon picked Betty up and spun her around.

♡ When she’s 10 weeks, in the middle of their first ultra-sound appointment, Simon asks Betty to marry him; a little pressured by the presence of their future child. And while Betty knows she wants to marry Simon eventually, she recognizes that he’s doing it for the wrong reasons. After some talking, they decide to put their wedding on the back burner. They were already stressed about starting a family and they didn’t need the added stress of planning a wedding on top of that.

♡ Betty immediately connects her with OBGYN, Dr. Olson.

♡ She was on doctors to stop taking her anti-depressants until the end of her pregnancy, as they could cause side effects and complications for the baby’s development. Betty took an alternative in the meantime, but she experienced mood swings early in her pregnancy as a result.

♡ When she felt well enough to eat normally again, she started craving french fries and strawberry chocolate-chip ice cream.

♡ When she’s around 13 weeks, Betty and Simon start discussing names for their baby.

♡ Simon goes first. For a boy, he picks ‘Henry,’ ‘Silas,’ and ‘John.” For a girl, he likes ‘Grace,’ ‘Heather,’ and ‘Penelope.’

♡ For a boy, Betty likes ‘Tobias’ or ‘Toby’ for short, ‘Casper,’ and ‘Theodore.’ For a girl, she picks ‘Alice’ after her mother, ‘Juniper,’ and ‘Willow.’

♡ Neither of them had a preference for the sex of their baby. They wanted it to be a surprise. Betty didn’t care as long as they were healthy, and that they existed in the first place. Simon agreed with her. Although, whenever he pictured their baby, he saw a boy.

♡ At 16 weeks, their baby starts kicking. Betty immediately calls Simon over to her to put his hand on her bump. They spend the whole day just sitting around their apartment fussing over her stomach, trying to get the baby to move again.

♡ “I felt that. Was that the baby?”

“No, Simon. It was just my bowel movements. Of course, it’s the baby, you dumdum!”

♡ They sing ‘Everything in You’ to her belly whenever it’s kicking and Betty needs them to calm down.

♡ At 20 weeks, it was getting harder for Betty to get comfortable enough to fall asleep. And the fact that the baby was kicking her almost constantly didn’t help, either. She started sleeping with a pillow between her legs.

♡ Having Simon’s hand on her bump helped calm the baby down so Betty could sleep.

♡ One night, she woke up in pain. At first, she thought maybe it was just something she ate. She had been trying out weird combinations of food to satisfy her cravings. But when she sat up in bed to go to the bathroom, she shook Simon awake in panic.

♡ “Simon? Simon, wake up.”

“Betty? What’s wrong, princess? Are you okay?”

“I’m. . .I’m bleeding. . .”

♡ Sorry for the upcoming angst, guys. It's gonna get worse before it gets better. Writing about my favorite characters going through terrible shit is how I cope, okay??? I won't leave you hanging for long, though. I'll post the next part soon

Finally, I buckled down and made a full character reference sheet. It took a while for me to figure out what markings I wanted her coat to have in a way that would be visually pleasing, but also not be too inconsistent and messy. I've come a long way from my first sparkle dog in 2010.

Astra is an old, wise deity; a witch of life and death, and the guardian of her great forest. She can take many forms, but her timber/dire wolf form is the most common. Rarely seen outside her domain of the Boltire Wilds, she spends her time amongst the many animals and spirits who call the forest their home.

The Boltire Wilds is a vast, lush expanse of tall trees, winding rivers, and shining stones. Magic runs deep within the soil and the creatures that inhabit it. Any traveler who enters with intent to harm and collect resources for selfish reasons is never seen again. Those with good hearts who wander through the trees injured or sick, looking for aid will always receive it.

Betty's Life After Meeting Simon

♡ Since their exact ages aren't really confirmed, I just took a guess and decided they met when Betty was 27 and Simon was 35.

♡ Babette was incredibly pissed when Betty decided to postpone her research trip to Australia to help Simon find the Enchiridion, going on and on about how dangerously stupid it was to go on a trip with a guy she just met. She even went so far as to tell Betty's mom on her.

♡ Her mom supported whatever her daughter wanted to do, as she was just planning to postpone the trip and not cancel it entirely. And she knows Betty can take care of herself. They took multiple self-defense classes together, after all.

♡ She knew her mom would support her, but just the fact that Babette would resort to something so childish pissed her off even more. They had a big fight before she left.

♡ Simon and Betty spend three weeks off the grid searching for the Enchiridion, getting to know every bit about one another's lives whenever they aren't working on their research. They both fell hard and fast for each other, with nothing else to do in the middle of nowhere.

♡ Spoiler Alert; NEITHER of their asses are thinking about finding that book. You could cut the tension with a knife.

♡ When they finally found the Enchiridion, they were both so happy that they kissed. They stayed in the middle of the cave, lost in each other for several minutes before turning back to the task at hand. The trip back was extremely awkward. Although they both wanted to move forward, they kept it professional.

♡ There was a part of Simon that felt guilty for letting himself get carried away, fearing that he was taking advantage of the power imbalance between them.

♡ That didn't stop either of them from fantasizing about what could've been. When they slept back-to-back in their tent that night, both dreamed of the other's tender touches and kisses.

♡ Betty definitely humped her pillow to that Polaroid she took of Simon and you can't tell me, otherwise. That picture was wrinkly for a reason.

♡ Betty genuinely didn't care about getting credit alongside Simon for the discovery of the Enchiridion. She simply saw it as a chance to get to know him in person after only knowing him on the page for years. For the first time in her life, she felt seen, heard, and understood; she just didn't know Simon felt the same way.

♡ She wrote the note at first with no intention of ever letting him see it. It was written out of frustration, and writing her thoughts out of her head always calmed Betty down; she had been using this coping mechanism for as long as she could remember.

♡ After some tweaking, Betty wrote down everything she wanted Simon to know that she wasn't strong enough to say in person and slipped it into the book before she returned it. It was too damn hard to say goodbye.

♡ Betty couldn't have cared less about missing her trip. All that mattered to her then was that Simon felt the same way about her; she found her person and she wasn't alone anymore. Simon and Betty spent the entire night together in her room.

♡ Of course, Babette was incredibly pissed to find out Betty missed her bus.

♡ She came home the next morning to catch them in the middle of having sex for the fourth time in 24 hours. They had a lot of time to make up for pining over each other that entire expedition.

♡ Her mom was beyond pissed to hear her daughter canceled her trip to Australia entirely. She gave Betty a whole lecture she was way too old for; "Don't throw away all your hard work for some guy, Bethany! An act like that can ruin your life. That's what happened when I met your father."

♡ That definitely hit a nerve. Betty and her Mom didn't talk for a while after that.

♡ While Betty pursued her master's degree, Simon continued his work studying and preserving the Enchiridion. They meet at Captain Tasty's once a week to exchange books for Books for the Bookless.

♡ After watching the two tip-toe around the corners of the University, Babette decided she had enough of only seeing her best friend/secret crush in between classes, bedtime, and the occasional lunch.

♡ So when Betty mentions nine months into her relationship with Simon that he asked her to move in with him, Babs just had to do something. Convinced it's the right thing to do, she reports Simon to the University for taking advantage of a student.

♡ When Betty finds out, they get into another big fight. She tells Babette that either she takes back her statement or they're not friends anymore. Babette agrees. (Fortunately, Simon doesn't work for the University. He left it for one at the Museum. So, it wouldn't have mattered anyway)

♡ Betty moves in with Simon after she and Babette finally graduate.

♡ At first, Betty just moves into Simon's apartment, which is a one-bedroom. They figured that was all they needed until they started working on their book about Mystic Rituals. It became crowded really quickly. Within six months of Betty moving in, they find a bigger place; a three-bedroom, two-bath with a great view of the Space Needle. It felt more like their home than the last place.

♡ They take regular trips together, exploring the world for themselves amongst also finding lost treasures for the museum.

♡ They still eat at Captain Tasty's every week, for old-time's sake.

♡ For three more years, Simon and Betty go through the motions, just enjoying their lives together.

♡ But on their next Valentines Day together, things get risky as Betty decides to ride Simon bareback in her new set of lingerie. And that passion they shared together that night led to Betty getting sick with a 'stomach bug' two months later.

Made my own AU/Reboot of the Smiling Critters franchise because they deserve to be happy.

Chapter 3 was AMAZING, guys! Mob Games delivered us with the lore we were all asking for and deserved.

Also, I got my CatNap plush I pre-ordered back in December as a birthday gift to myself! I love him! I'll definitely be ordering DogDay once I secure another job for myself.

So, I was thinking about all the shows I used to love as a kid; Care Bears, My Little Pony, Blues Clues, etc. I realized the whole appeal of the Smiling Critters was that it reminded us of being carefree kids. And I think that's why I find the atmosphere of Poppy Playtime so comforting despite the history of violent experiments. The entrance to the factory, the game station, even playcare feel like a childhood liminal space that makes me feel safe and like I'm a kid again.

The Poppy Playtime Fandom seems to have latched onto them and created their own sub-fandom like FNAF did with Sun and Moon. I don't know what it is about sun and moon themed characters, but I am here for it!

Anyways, I'll eventually be posting the other critters. I'm working on Bobby Bearhug and CraftyCorn for the next installment. My handwriting might be a bit hard to read, so the typed-up version of all my headcanons down below the cut.
