So did I watch five seasons of The Dragon Prince in a day and a half? Yes. Yes I did.

Sometimes when you're scrolling through Tumblr you'll spot a character that makes you stop and go, "Whoa! Who is that?!" And when you're halfway through bingeing the show they're in, you ask yourself, "Okay, is this character amazing because you want to marry them, or be them?" And, of course, by you I mean me.

And then you see her future wife.

Yep! I definitely want to be General Amaya so that I can marry Queen Janai. Look at her! She is beautiful!

I have like 3% of a voice left, and it hurts to use it. Unfortunately I have to use it when I'm conversing with my mom because she is unwilling to learn ASL.

Oh, and the hearing in my right ear today completely cut out again briefly. So weird. It's the same ear as my ceaseless tinnitus. Oh snap! How much would that suck? If the only thing I could hear out of one ear is "eeeeeeeee".

The good news is I built a new stone patio this afternoon.

I had COVID last autumn and I think it's still fucking with me five months later. Tonight I had my ballet exercise class and I experienced a really intense bout of vertigo toward the end of class. It started over the weekend culminating in my inability this evening to do basic pirouettes. I even had to get a ride home after class because I didn't feel stable enough to ride my bike.

Anyway, is the combination of tinnitus, dizziness, vertigo, and short-term hearing blackouts a thing? Or is it just my body recognizing that it's nearly half a century old now and it has decided to start spontaneously deteriorating?

In more fun news, I saw my ASL teacher this evening and we had a brief chat about how gorgeous this spring weather was today before he headed off to teach his evening class. Then afterward I smiled at the delight of being able to have a conversation with someone entirely in ASL. Like, wow! I really know how to do this! So cool!

Wait... Not thinking about something until it's right in front of me sounds a lot like my ADHD. If I put something in a drawer, it may as well cease to exist as far as my brain is concerned. That's why I have to have things in sight. That's why my computer desktop is a disaster. That's why my room is a cluttered mess.

Oh, but if something stays in one location for too long, it becomes a part of the natural environment and I stop thinking about it in almost the same way as if it were no longer in sight.

Look! A project I stopped working on ten months ago, still sitting on that table over there. Hey! A drawing I was working on parked squarely in the center of my desktop. Last opened ... five weeks ago?! Oh no!

Maybe I'm aromantic because I just don't have the attention span for romance. Consider this hypothetical:

Her: Why don't you ever buy me flowers like you used to? Me: I do buy you flowers! I got you those purple ones. Her: That was a year and a half ago. Me: … Me: I'm sorry! I didn't realize it has been so long! I don't understand how time works. Her: I know. It's okay. That's why I got you flowers!

The primary reason why all my clothes are black is because I don't want to waste precious brain cell coordinating an outfit. (The secondary reason is because I'm still in my goth phase.) Similarly, romance is a bunch of social rituals that I will never be good at doing because I'm not interested in figuring it all out. But if I could do one thing, and a prospective romantic partner recognized that one thing as a romantic gesture despite it being the only romantic thing I did, maybe that would be okay.

One way I can tell I'm definitely aromantic:

Them: Hey! Have you ever considered shipping [this character] and [that character]? Me: … [processing] … Them: Oh. Obviously not. Me: Well, I am now!

Seriously. It's only because of Tumblr that I finally learned about Kya and Lin. And now I've discovered Peach and Samus.

Wow. I really don't think about dating or romance at all until it's set down in front of me. Who else will Tumblr introduce me to?

I love the pink and teal (red/blue sapphics!), the pirate lass and her long dark hair, and the long flowing silver white hair of the merm. They remind me of Sumitra and Asta.

They're Both Hot Witch Wives, Actually

Of course I'm going to have my witch wives do the Hot Witch Wife meme! What's the spell being cast? I think it's something about mermaids, since it'll be May next week.

I learned some things about the Witch Wives this weekend.

Sumitra doesn't like raw tomatoes, but Asta loves them. Asta doesn't like dill pickles, but Sumitra does. So when they have sandwiches with those ingredients, they always swap.

Asta communicates with sign language because she can't speak (just like me). And Sumitra uses a wheelchair sometimes when she's not using her prosthetics.
