My new OC, partially inspired by DARKSIDE by Neoni. Backstory:

Zaleria lived in a smaller, very conservative town, where magic was generally very disliked, if not outright despised. Then one day, she was attacked by some dudes from her town because of her love for knowledge and magic. Maybe she would have died there, if she hadn't been saved by a creature of shadow living in the woods named Valia. Due to this, Zaleria acquired some powers of her own. Although not comparable to Valia's shapeshifting and control over shadow, Zaleria has become, through years of studying, quite a powerful mage of her own.

As time passed, the two became close friends, and, eventually, lovers. It didn't take long for the two to start thinking about how they could see each other in public as well, without having to hide from the other villagers because of their respective powers and magical abilities. So they settled on telling the villagers that they had been cursed, that they couldn't spend long far from each other without being in pain. Most villagers accepted this story and very reluctantly let Valia into the village. Some other people don't want to accept the fact that Valia, a shapeshifting creature of shadow, is allowed into the village and do everything in their power to make life as hard as possible for both Valia and Zaleria, going as far as physically attacking them.

Zaleria, once a kind and gentle person, starts to lose any respect she once had for the people she knew all her life and starts to learn offensive spells and the art of combat, so that she could get revenge on the people who have treated her and her beloved so badly all their life.

When those same douchebags tell lies about Valia in front of the entire village, Zaleria decides that she wouldn't tolerate this anymore and unleashes all her might on the townspeople who spread those lies, showing them exactly what happens when you mess with them.

She made sure that those who survived her rage would never forget that day.

Not long after, Zaleria and Valia decide to leave the village and explore the lands in search of knowledge and a place where they would be accepted.
