selkie magic!auuuuuu sasunarugaa where sasuke and naruto grew up super close before going on a school senior beach trip. they blow off their other friends to explore tidepools and caves, going in deeper to a cave when naruto hears weird noises. Sasuke thinks it could be a weirdo luring in people with a recording. Naruto thinks that's stupid. They stumble on Selkie Gaara tending to a wound on his tail flipper, shepherding him back to their hotel room with the other boy's in class for first-aid treatment before sneaking him back to their houses. Sleeping in Naruto's attic and swimming in Sasuke's humongous pool. The boy's bond with Gaara learning human socializing and Naruto and Sasuke learning that Gaara knows some sea magic. Eventually through the help of Giant Squid!Tsunade and Sea Lion!Kakashi, Gaara's siblings track him down out of concern with the lack of communication out of nowhere. They have a happy reunion but it soon turns to convincing Gaara to come back home to the sea out of concern of losing his magic entirely as he hadn't learned how to balance his nature magic while being in the suburbs, losing his soul to captivity. It's a sour sweet summer romance since it takes both Naruto and Sasuke to convince Gaara to go back home but they do in the end on the condition they have one last beach day to have a happy send off and grab sea water to create a way to communicate with the humans on shore. They meet again around the middle of Naruto and Sasuke's college years, but that hold's a different arc than the feel good teen romance ;9

Gaara goes through the list of god's to help him and ends up praying to Naruto on a whim.

Whose the only one who actually helps Gaara in exchange for his kingdom's servitude towards Kurama as the old fox god is weak from lack of active supporters, lying in a coma in the middle of the ruins of a massive Uzushiogakure altar and a massive field. It's a culture shock between feral fox god and prim, proper sand prince. Naruto uses fox magic and trickery to smooth over any dissent over two king's as Kankuro doesn't want to be roped into royal shit, his image of hanging around with the mother of the murderer of the third king doesn't help either.

Rasa and Yashamaru are the more negative aspects pushing Temari along to keep her remaining brother, Gaara, alive alongside her. Gaara wears Temari's old yukata. Before the incident Temari has longer hair and put's it up in her traditional canon pigtails but in training she shears it all off. Gaara puts strands in braids because he was used to it before he turned and Temari doesn't have the heart to take them out when he does. Karura is the one who teaches her kids the Dance of the Fire God, mixing traditional fan dances alongside it. Rasa's family has no ties to the tradition. Yashamaru admonishes his sister's dancing despite her declining health, taking it out on the kids when he hears she's doing it for them.
