WIP Wednesday!
This scene is the beginning of Athena and Pallas' long journey to rescue the rest of the Olympians. They've gathered as much information about the people that are holding them, found all the locations and now they're ready to rescue them...and kill everyone in their way, well Athena is ;)
Almost a week, a frustrating week, of training, resting, and planning, later, Athena and Pallas were perched on a rocky outcropping above a small valley somewhere in Russia. Athena wore a bright white tunic under the aegis, with a helmet, leather bracers and sandals that gleamed gold. The frosty air nipped at her bare arms and steamed her breath but she took no notice of it. The spear in one hand was braced against the rocks. Pallas was dressed in a similar outfit, with a darker gray tunic, and equally unbothered by the temperature.  They were both laser focused on the small squat building in the center of the valley. It was rather uninspired, the same color as the rocks around it, with only a line of thin windows around the top to let in natural light. It was surrounded by three layers of barbed wire fences, and dotted with bulging camera eyes. Armed guards made their rounds between the fencing. Alone this building would seem rather unimpressive for all this security, but the treasure worth guarding was hidden below the surface. There were nine additional levels, each housing more potent information, until finally the last level, the active experimentation floor, where the king of the gods was being kept.
I'm still not 100% on what they would wear into battle because I still need to do some research. If anyone has some educated feed back it's welcome just please be nice about it.

WIP Wednesday
This scene is in the second chapter. Athena has escaped and killed those who kept her captive. She flew to where Pallas is living in owl form but she was pursed and attacked by a murder of crows, with something odd about them....
This is told from Pallas' perspective. Content warning for blood (sort of a little bit) and hostile birds.
Pallas jumped, startled by the noise. It was horrible, it sounded like something was dying. She went to the window and tried to see what was causing it. There was nothing in the alley right outside her window, it was too dark to see deeper into it and as far as she could see there was nothing on the street either. But then the screech came again and Pallas looked up. A furious battle was being fought in the air above the next house over. An owl, white and brown feathers stark against the dark sky, was fighting against what seemed to be a whole murder of crows. The crows were much harder to see, black as they were. She could only make them out when the light off the streetlamp gleamed off their shiny feathers, flashing a rainbow sheen.  The owl was losing, it was 10 to one, the crows coming from all sides, not giving the owl time to counter attack. Why were the crows out at night? The owl was already bleeding from two cuts. One across the top of its wing and chest. The other across it's lower belly. Instead of normal blood the cuts seemed to gleam gold…  A faint tug started up in Pallas' gut.  It couldn't be… No she hadn't been seen in centuries, they were all killed by those creatures.  But then the owl twisted in the air and Pallas could make out the markings at the center of its chest, the faint but definite outline of Medusa's head. She threw open the window. "Athena!" She shouted. The owl heard and turned its head, locking eyes with Pallas. She stepped aside, giving it an opening. The owl dove.

WIP Wednesday!!!
This is my first wip Wednesday of hopefully many more to come!
This scene takes place in the first chapter when Athena is escaping the facility she has been held in. She takes great joy in finally being able to fight again, and bringing as much pain to her captors as she can in the process.
Content warning for killing and, psychological torment, sort of, neither is super graphic.
Athena blinked and the room was filled with owls. They weren't real of course, the illusions swooped and dodged, a flurry of feathers. The guards though, could feel the sharp beaks and gleaming talons slashing their skin and pecking at their eyes. The wings brushed their faces as they screamed and fired, but their weapons did nothing.  Athena moved up behind the first guard, ignoring the pain in her hip she reached up and snapped his neck with a swift movement. The other guard turned and rushed toward his fallen partner, eyes wide in horror. Athena stepped up and around and the guard only got halfway there before she delivered a swift kick to his knee and he fell. With another quick snap his life was gone.  The owls disappeared, the room was silent. The sound of the strange weapons echoed in Athena's mind. She bent to retrieve the one in the guard’s hand and inspected it. She tossed it aside with a sneer, not a weapon she could use, nor would she, it was a coward's option.

things i am learning now that i’m finally actually watching avatar the last air bender part one:
1) not everyone is a bender 2) it does appear to be inherent to some extent, because katara seems to be partially self-taught 3) however, there is a learning element, because you can improve on your skills and the avatar has to learn how to master all four elements where i thought aang just had inherent skill 4) the element of the bender seems to always match the element of the tribe they’re in, which makes sense if they are taught by their tribe but raises some questions if it’s inherent. is bending ability passed genetically? what happens if two benders of different elements have a kid? i can’t google this because i don’t want anymore spoilers than i already have 5) uncle iroh is prince zuko’s uncle?????????? i thought he was like an earth bender who owned a tea shop this entire fucking time how did i go into this series knowing almost everything but THAT

Introduction
Hiiiii!!!! This is the official sideblog for the book I’m writing. It's called Athena’s Revenge. My main is @furiouswritingbiologykid
The blurb as it stands:
The Olympians have been held captive by humans for centuries. Now Athena has escaped and is out for blood. With the help of the reborn nymph Pallas, Athena sets out to rescue her family, and take vengeance on those who would dare keep them trapped. But while they were gone the world was changing, and an ancient malevolent force is behind these audacious humans.
Writing that made me cringe but oh well I’ll re-write it later.
Here I’ll mostly be posting/reblogging incorrect quotes, cool art, fun thoughts, basically anything that relates to the story. I might do wip Wednesdays sometimes but probably not super consistently. Honestly don’t expect super consistent posting in general because my enthusiasm for this story waxes and wanes but I’m 99% sure I won't give up on it entirely. Mostly because it's the only story I actually have (almost) fully plotted out.
Once there's enough I’ll start grouping post categories and linking them together.
Feel free to ask me anything! (the button says: Speak Mortals)
Thanks for being here!!!
