Octavo's Ode as a time loop.

Octavo smells incense. Barely a moment to rest in the darkness before he's awake again, inhaling a lungful of warm and cloying air. The old woman's knitting needles click rhythmically. She does not even look up at him. The coppery tang of blood lingers in his mouth. Octavo swallows.

Last time, it was... different. Octavo remembers that much, stepping out of the hut, finding Hyrule laid to waste, but everything beyond that is a blur. His ears are ringing slightly. He rubs at one, frowning.

The old woman speaks. "Well? Isn't it about time you got going?"

Octavo doesn't respond at first, looking blearily around the hut. The shadows quiver in the candlelight. "...what happened, the last time?"

"Whatever do you mean?" Click, click go her needles. "Everything that has happened up to this moment is all there has ever been. The future is not here until it arrives."

Octavo's lips twitch into a sneer. "Don't play coy with me, hag. You're an oracle."

"Do you believe the Fates have nothing better to do than watch your charade?" She scoffs. "Even the best performances grow tiresome the more you see them."

"No. No, something was wrong. What did you do?" Octavo slams his palms on the table as he stands, rattling the crystal ball. "Why have you chosen now to make it go differently? You're keeping me here, you may as well answer me!"

"Nobody is is keeping you here, Octavo," the old woman answers with a pinched smile. "Nobody but yourself. You know what you must do if you wish to rest."

"If only you could see the tangled web that is your future"

*coughs* This one's been sitting in my drafts for a while as a WIP. A little self-indulgent drawing on my phone that I decided to finish today because I'm running off half an hour of sleep and needed something to color/shade and keep my attention. It's based off of a personal concept where Octavo's thread of fate is nearing its end. Shadow, desperate to keep both of them alive, grabs this invisible thread that keeps him tethered to this earth and begins tying knots wherever he feels the thread start to fray and break as a means to strengthen it. The end result is him getting tangled in a mess of a thread. Not exactly his best work, the Fates would laugh at this incredibly sloppy attempt at trying to mend a broken thread.

...I've got this whole concept where Shadow needs to be summoned by someone (usually a villain) in order to exist in a timeline and if his summoner dies, then he likely also dies... It's a very long explanation ough. The Goddesses HATE this bastard like he's a roach he keeps REINCARNATING.

Expect a lot of imagery/concepts that are loosely based off of the red thread of fate soulmate legend when it comes to how I portray Shadow Link/Dark Link. I imagine a summoner and a demon would experience something similar to this but a bit more messed up.
